Shelke and Morrow have a LM2 that gives them initial Haste + Instant Cast 3. They'll resolve their third action at the same time most party members are just getting their second turn, so with Ace Striker you can Wrath, Wrath, Entrust to a DPS character, who is able to do whatever on turn one and then use their USB or whatnot on turn two.

I think speed clears often have Shelke or Morrow carry Mako Might so they can go Entrust, Wrath, Entrust to get two DPS characters up and running quickly.

Speaking as someone who has Tidus USB + OSB + BSB2, I have largely replaced the OSB with the BSB2. With 0CT entry, 0CT next move, and the Atk/Def and Burst buffs to Tidus, it feels like a good trade. My Marilith runs (and my default plan for no-synergy strategy) involves Tidus receiving an Entrust on his second turn, entering USB mode, building up most of a bar with Sapphire Shot, and then receiving another Entrust for a 0CT string of BSB2 -> USB re-entry -> Sapphire Shot. It seems to work pretty well. With that said, I don't think I would use it often without Entrust, and the actual burst commands I've only used in endurance fights like the recent Demon Wall.

I guess dump the door keys into the convoy or something upon character death?

Doesn't it already work like that? Or do you have to wait until the end of the chapter to loot the corpses?

Edit: Hang on a moment. Doesn't that chapter have the walls raise/lower based on the position of your units?

Astra is a Swordmaster skill. Gaius can access it by reclassing into Myrmidon and promoting into Swordmaster. (Or by being high enough level to reclass into Swordmaster, that works too.) Gaius' child will always inherit Myrmidon access from him, so they will always be able to obtain Astra themselves. But if you've already decided to get Astra for Gaius, then you might as well do it before recruiting his kid, and save yourself some time and effort.

I dunno if its because shes a dragon knight now but the war machine things aren't taking most of her life with one hit now. Do the dragons have the arrow weakness or no?

Dracoknights are vulnerable to bows. However, the only ballista that gets the anti-flyer bonus is Arrowspate.

Seems like a bad burst unless maybe if you have his OSB to get Thundergod's Might. Is this accurate or are the extended delays actually balanced to the damage unlike... most things that have that mechanic in the game.

Ahh, for the days of pulverizing Torment 250s with Orlandu OSB -> RW Cloud USB -> double Orlandu BSB...

Orlandu's BSB commands are 4 x 1.0x Holy/Non with minor Atk/Def debuff and 2 x 2.0x Dark/Non with HP drain. So, if you have a way of dealing with the charge time, that Cmd1 can compete with Guardbringer and Assault Saber. If you don't, it can't. I would say they're balanced to the damage, but you have to remember that BSB commands aren't supposed to outperform 5* abilities.

If you do find yourself deploying BSB-only Orlandu, consider running Lifesiphon/Powerchain.

And before people complain about Republicans - the passage about removing the plank in one's own eye before complaining about the speck of dust in another's eye comes to mind. Right now, Democrats have lost credibility with a lot of people. When they've gained it back, they can complain about Republicans and make the complaints stick. Right now they just get ignored.

I intend to quibble with this, not to disagree. I think that "Republican voters don't trust Democratic politicians, even when evidence supports the Democrats" is a rational explanation for a fair amount of the Democrats' current political woes.

But I also think that if the Democrats need to be utterly free from sin before Republican voters turn away - if even you yourself say "well, the Republicans deliberately forcing families apart in order to cause them emotional trauma is foul enough that I won't support them, but even so l will only consider voting for a Democrat if they publicly excoriate Hillary Clinton" - then isn't Democrats losing control of the government for a generation kind of a foregone conclusion?

I usually find that Marth is so busy recruiting enemies, saving villages, looting treasures, and seizing thrones that he doesn't end up fighting very often. But if you're willing to wait for him to run around doing his stuff after the field is cleared, then I suppose you might as well beef up his stats a bit.

I really wish the game wasn't so stingy with ballistas (the weapons) themselves. The common one (Stonehoist I believe?) has horrid Hit so I don't like using more than one for that reason, you only have one Arrowspate for the longest time. They're a neat class idea though and I was a bit sad that Mystery dropped them.

Keeping them together means they can all pass their best weapon around! Of course, you'll burn through it pretty quickly, without assistance. I believe I usually employ a forged Stonehoist (with 60-65 Hit) as a backup.

My best guess is that ballisticians got cut because New Mystery was intended to be balanced in a way that Shadow Dragon's really not, and IS found spammable 3-10 range damage to be such a deviation from conventional FE options that they gave up on balancing it. If New Mystery's gameplay wound up being substantially less bland than that of Shadow Dragon, then I suppose that may have been a good trade. But ballisticians are one of the best parts of Shadow Dragon, if only because they don't feel like "every other Fire Emblem, only blander", and I too was sorry to hear that the sequel made the class non-playable.

The weapon triangle affects accuracy and damage. The magnitude is tied to weapon rank, so on low difficulties, it's a pretty marginal effect. It's more significant in high difficulties, where all of the enemies have A-ranks.

Skill increases accuracy and critical rate. It's not literally non-functional, just underpowered.

I love deploying both Ballisticians and making Xane copy one, so that I have triple ballistas.

okay I want some help. Trying to do the 4 star mote Dissidia raid solo and I am just lost on what I am doing wrong.

The problem is Cloud's Ultimate Blade Beam, a very strong, defense-ignoring, NAT-typed, ranged physical. It can essentially wipe your party at will, and you cannot prevent him from using it. Also, he will chase it with Ultimate Braver and Ultimate Cross-Slash, which hit even harder, although thankfully those are neither full-party MT nor ranged.

Since Cloud precedes UBB with Limit Break, which buffs his own Atk, straight Atk breaks like Steal Power are very useful only if you can reliably land them right after Limit Break (e.g. by having someone use Powerchain in advance and then idle.) Otherwise, look into stacking Atk debuffs like Multi Break, Enfeebling Jitterbug, and Mug Bloodlust. Stoneskin, Guts, and even the basic Defend command can also help you survive Cloud's attacks. Blink should also work, but with WoL and Firion around I'd hate to rely on it.

Also, you want to either use entirely MT attacks (to end the fight faster) or entirely ST attacks (to avoid triggering the 'damaged' AI scripts on Firion and WoL.)

They continue to beg Republican Congressmen for help and make appeals to their better natures, over and over and over, even though this never ever works. In between crises, they make zero effort to reach out to voters who might vote for them if Democrats actually tried to win their votes instead of writing them off as deplorable.

So, you think that Democrats have too high an opinion of Republican congressmen, too low an opinion of Republican voters?

red sox 777, I do agree that, coming from you personally, the statement "only religious people can make moral decisions" is meaningless, and that there is therefore no practical reason for you to make it. (Although I'll note that your "if you can come up with a distinction between [morals and religion], I'm all ears" comment, spoken to people who were expecting the conventional use of "religion" and not the one which you personally employ, is what kicked off this tangent.)

However, as you acknowledge, other people use the word in other ways. Some of these people may well be "incoherent" and "not able to articulate any definition of religion", but I believe that they also have you outnumbered. (Offhand, the only time I recall seeing the view advocated on this very board, the poster was citing their deity specifically rather than religion in general as a requirement for morality. We might conceivably consider that a distinct issue. But I think you'll find that I am not the only one in this topic who would say that "atheist" and "religious person" are mutually exclusive.)

OK. So you acknowledge that people can be less religious, or more religious. But what they actually believe in, and whether they believe in it or believe in not-it, is irrelevant to whether they are more or less religious.

Bluntly, I think your definition sucks. According to you, all people are religious. That makes the term rather useless. It isn't entirely useless, because you do at least retain the ability to distinguish between weak and strong beliefs, although I find that words like "zealous" suffice for that.

However, I also think that your definition differs enough from the typical definition that it will impair your ability to communicate with other English speakers. That if you were to say say "only religious people can make moral decisions", the rest of the world will not hear "all humans can make moral decisions". Do you agree that this is a potential conversational pitfall?

The idea that compelling others to get insurance is morally okay is a moral judgment.

And you don't need to make that judgment in order to support Obamacare. You can support it out of pure self interest, wanting cheaper bills and less risk of contagion, and never give a thought to whether the onus you place upon society is morally defensible.

If you're going to tell me that "refuse to judge" (or "never even occurred to me to judge") constitutes a judgment, then I don't think your definition of "judgment" is meaningful.

None of the reasons stated make sense if you don't make a moral judgment at some point.

I can pay for my own treatment, but would prefer to pay less than more. If the hospital is forced to treat persons who cannot pay for their own care - which is the case - then they'll charge me more. Compelling those persons to get insurance is therefore to my benefit.

(Also, fewer sick people with contagious diseases means less chance that I personally will get sick.)

It is United States law that a hospital ER cannot refuse service to someone just because they won't be able to pay. This provides an incentive for people to seek treatment at the worst possible time - and leave the hospital (and, through lowered wages or raised prices, the rest of society) to foot the bill. But if more people have health insurance, then more hospitals can get paid for the work they do.

Upon some research, it looks like I wasn't quite right:

https://www.reddit.com/r/FFRecordKeeper/comments/7utpqb/guide_all_about_offensive_boost/

Elemental buffs from Record Materia, Record Dive, Legend Materia, and Legend Dive are their own step.

Elemental buffs from equipment, En-Element, "one of the attack's types matches the type of the current chain", and Magicite in-battle effects are their own step. .

Elemental buffs from "one of the attack's types matches the type of the current chain, which is at X%" are their own step. (Yes, chains give two boosts, one fixed and one scaling.)

Elemental buffs from Magicite passives are also their own step.

So, returning to Beatrix. Since we're talking about RM choice, we can ignore everything except Record Materia, Record Dive, Legend Materia, and Legend Dive.

If you don't have Beatrix dived, she's at 0% for holy and sword, so it doesn't matter.
If you do her Record Dive, she's at 0% holy and 3% sword, so +holy is better.
If you also do her Legend Dive, it looks like she gets 9% holy (19% with LM1) but sword is still 3%, so +sword is better.

...If you don't want to have to bother working that out every time, and you're going to be hitting an elemental weakness constantly, just set Tyro's "+30% damage against weakness" RM. That effect gets applied separately from element/weapon/school boosts, and very few characters get "+dmg against weakness" in their record/legend dives, so it's ideal for most characters - including a fully dived Beatrix.

I don't like that play method generally and have been doing well enough at avoiding it-- but assuming no Entrust does that advice tend to change or not? +30% damage seems like a lot to give up but getting soul breaks off a bit quicker matters.

Short answer: no.

Long answer: If you're getting some kind of utility out of your Soul Break, like the front row party quick cast of Marche USB, or if you're trying to squeak a SB cast before some arbitrary point, like getting off both both your En-Element and your AOSB before the Magicite timer reaches 30s, then it may be worth going for a +SB RM instead of a +Dmg RM. But the general rule remains, DPS characters should have either DPS RMs or (for some setups) Thunder God.

Should I use the 30% or 40% ones?

I think the rule of thumb here is "chases should take +40% chase damage, others should take +30% weapon damage" but I haven't run any serious numbers.

Functionally the damage output would be identical whether it was much more sword damage or much more Holy damage right?

If your Beatrix has no other sword or Holy buffs, then yes. In practice, +sword will be better than +holy, because it's much easier for Beatrix to get +holy damage (weapon, armor, magicite) than +sword damage (a pittance from her record dive). Going from Sword Damage x1.03 to Sword Damage x1.33 is a bigger deal than going from Holy Damage x1.2 to Holy Damage x1.5.

Marilith sub-30! Eiko, Ramza, Yuffie, Paine, Tidus. Everyone has USBs except Ramza (Shout/LMR), everyone is dived except Paine.

I believe the keystone mechanic goes away before 5* magicite come around (Magicite become available normally, but no longer give orbs/crystals) so I guess it's time to burn through my stockpile of keystones and rack up some Fire Crystals.

I think this is doable with just Minwu as a healer I just need to sandwich his Ultra in between the first and second Firaga when she starts going nuts with it.

Once Marilith enters weak phase (below 40%?) she always uses Ultimate Firaga twice in a row. I use Bismarck as my Magicite to deal with that; he's an instant cast Fire Blink, so my party eats the first one and then Bismarck catches the second.

Of course, sometimes Marilith uses Ultimate Firaga at random, gets hit below 40%, and then follows it up with the two scripted Ultimate Firagas. Good luck with those runs. :(

How are you guys doing the 4* magicites?

If you're just getting started, I would recommend bringing two healers, a buffer (with Wrath/Entrust), and two DPS characters. Transition into a more offense-heavy setup once you have a feel for the fight, and some 4* magicite of your own.

Marche's USB EX mode doesn't give party instant cast, just party (well, front row) high quick cast.

Other tricks? Well, his BSB is an Atk/Mnd buff (so it stacks with pretty much everything), and he has 4* White so he can open with a Protect or Shell if your white mages are feeling pressured for slots.

Doing about 120k damage to Shadow Dragon before the end of this sequence will make him abort the remainder. After that he just throws out tons of MT damage, as is normal for a Magicite. So, there are two main approaches: you can undo both KOs, or you can skip the second one. (It's also possible to skip the first one, but if you've got a strong enough party to do that, why ask for help?)

With Reraise, Raise, or a SB with a similar effect, you can use the first twenty seconds of the fight to build up SB meter, then begin the battle in earnest after the second Black Fang connects. Shadow Dragon will hit hard and fast after Black Fang #2, so take advantage of his consistent timing to start charging your revival effect of choice (or healing, if you picked Reraise) and Elarra's Fabula Guardian in advance. Don't forget that you'll need to recast Protect and apply Shell, too. Obviously, this is not a sub-30 plan, but I use it (with Lenna's Reraise SB) for a reliable sub-60.

Failing that, I believe the 'conventional' strategy is to treat Shadow Dragon as a four-man fight plus a designated decoy. Like, you could have a healer, a buffer/Entruster, two DPS characters, and someone whose job is to use Protect first, Entrust second, and then die. (The DPS characters would hit the sucker with a few Lifesiphons to make sure Shadow Dragon takes the bait.)

Pork > Beef > Chicken

Was tempted to put chicken over beef, but I reflected upon hamburgers for a time and granted beef mercy.

I'm pretty sure "Taxes are the price we pay to live in a civilized society" is the position of the Republican Party, too. So that'd have to be mainstream propaganda.

Isnt the selection of each Pope supposed to be from God himself? Has the Vatican ever admitted a mistake in this regard?

My understanding is that the Vatican acknowledges that all Popes, being human, are sinners to some degree, and that some are sinners to such degree that they were unworthy of the office. However, any papal decisions they may have made regarding, say, new saints being canonized, retain religious authority even if the Pope responsible for that decision was a scumball.

Popes claim the authority to make official mouthpiece-of-god type statements and virtually never (like, once a century) exercise that authority.

Parade totals for me:

Rafa USB - I'm unsure how often I'll use the SB, but I do appreciate the 6* rod.
Yda SSB2 - At least it's armor.
Raines SSB2 - At least it's armor.
Gabranth BSB - Sword with +dark? I can use that.
Prishe BSB - Cool points for monk combo. Might be decent, too.
Paine BSB (dupe) - A second +water armor? Why yes, that'll do nicely.
Steiner USB - Well, I dig the concept...
Ward SSB - Sadly, obsolete for me.
Reno BSB (dupe) - I already have an 8*, so this is useless.
Edgar SSB - CHAIN SAW. Also Bio, in case that ever matters again...
Gogo-V SSB - I will probably never use the SB, but the hat's meager water resistance is still enough to cover a Gigas Armlet's weakness.
P-Cecil BSB - Would've been nice to get this in time for the FF4 Torment! Oh well.
CoD SSB (dupe) - A fourth +dark armor? This one I combined.
Josef SSB - Light armor with minor ice resist. Ehh.
WoL BSB - I already have his OSB, so getting his En-Holy BSB is the best draw of the parade.

JP got, and we're expecting to get, two 33-pulls (with one guaranteed 6* each). The first is free, the second will cost 50 mythril. Odds are pretty good that the 15+ relics of the parade will outperform the ~6 (?) relics of the 33-pull, so if any of y'all feel like your realm parade draws were a mistake, you probably shouldn't draw on the 33.

But me, I like getting tons of random schlock and trying to make teams out of it. :P

I think having an affair actually is against the law in some states? Not sure how often that's enforced.

If he is in league with Russia and lying about it, that is substantial. I am not going to call for his head if he has been proven to have watched a movie illegally. Lol

But lying about whether or not he had sex with someone who wasn't his wife would be substantial. Yes?

(Well, who wasn't his wife at the time. Trump's remarried.)

At a family dinner last Sunday, my father mentioned that his taxes went up under Trump. That good enough, Corrik? My sister used to be my brother, and she's in the Air Force; after Trump shot off his mouth last year, she wasn't sure whether she would lose her job. (As of yet, she hasn't lost it; my understanding is that Matthis seems disinclined to make Trump's tweets into official practice.)

I don't despise Trump because of these things. I despise Trump because of the damage he's doing to the foundations of our country. I despise Trump because he accuses his opponents of lying even when they're telling the truth; because he emboldens foreign powers and home-grown Nazis; because he treats the position of President as that of the public's ultimate master, not the public's foremost servant. My father's taxes going up, ehh, my father's doing fine and that hasn't changed. (Perhaps I will save more than my father lost! I've honestly no idea, I don't know his tax specifics and I don't recall mine.) My sister; well, perhaps you'll say that she still has her job and she shouldn't have worried and so it's all her fault and not Trump's, although I wouldn't agree. But if you can't respect any objection to the man that's not rooted in family and finance, well, there you go.
