I think Ubisoft with Rayman would be the biggest / most likely at this point. Nintendo and Ubisoft are doing weird crossovers lately and Ubisoft's been a big early presence on recent Nintendo platforms.

The only way I'd really be ok with an anime or non-video game character would be if they have some kind of significance to Nintendo. But idk anyone like that.

Sakurai considered James Bond for Melee because of Goldeneye. I think that would have qualified.

I would also take Scrooge McDuck with a Cranky Kong echo or vice versa

Oh hey, while we're talking about Kirby:

I think Zero from Dreamland 3 is going to be in the game as a boss. On the Smash site's Assist Trophy page, Zero is listed as Zero (Mega Man). none of the other ATs have a similar parenthetical, so I think this means they're trying to differentiate him from a different Zero who is also in the game, and Kirby Zero is the only one that makes sense probably.

I think some combination of needing every stage to work in 8 player and needing every stage to work with stage morph is what kept Pokefloats and the vertical scrollers out

also Pokefloats is from Melee so they would have to actually recreate the art completely unlike New Pork which was probably like no effort

Oh another thing to discuss: when do you guys think the next Direct/reveal will be, and will there be more than one before release? Like let's say they keep it to 2 reveals per Direct, 2-4 more characters sounds about right for what's left (not including echos), so maybe one around October?

Maybe one more Smash exclusive Direct to talk about the secret menu item / reveal stuff and another character reveal or two in a normal Direct.

I'm guess like 3 normal and 3 echos are left, so that would work out I think

I've always been confused about whether or not King K Rool is supposed to be the same guy as the ones from DKC2 and DKC3

he's definitely the same guy in all the games, he just put on a different hat and coat

He's not as iconic or prestigious as, say, Ridley.

He's a weird case. He was as iconic as Ridley for a time, but then Rare got bought and Nintendo stopped using him for some reason.

now that I think about it, that period where he was a big deal was pretty short. He was the big bad for four games, but those games were released within a five year span like 20 years ago. He's barely appeared in this century.

I am legitimately very excited to see him back and high deffed.

also if someone were selling a good K. Rool shirt I would be into it

Isaac maybe? Those poor Golden Sun fans have had it rough. Also it's sort of a bummer that Advance Wars missed their shot, that series was great for a while.

yeah that's odd... it made sense when we thought Echos had to have every move the original has, but now with Chrom I don't know what the line is

Maybe Doc doesn't count because his down B is technically not echoed for anyone else in the way Chrom's up B is?

Decidueye's cool but I think Incineroar would have a more fun moveset. Decidueye seems like it'd be similar to other bow users, or Sheik's needles, etc. Incineroar being grappler/wrestler based would be cool.
