They complain that police are using M4 carbines from their trunks even though it is a far more reliable and accurate weapon to take out a suspect at 10 or 15 yards. They complain that the armored cars that allow them to safely engage standoff suspect are "intimidating". All I can tell you is that media like video games and movies are not an accurate representation of reality and you should really know this by now. The police needed to engage the armed suspect. In a firefight it's impossible to account for every bullet, even for the most skilled operator. However, letting the suspect escape is a worse alternative considering suspects very often do take hostages.
