We have a mirror mounted on top of our head coil, since we have people doing tasks in the scanner and they need to see the task projected on the screen at the end of the bore. If I go in without that mirror, which lets me look through the bore as if I were in a wide open space, I get really claustrophobic. With the mirror, however, it's easy breezing. I think they should always have a mirror in there for patients, even if it's unnecessary.

That would be really helpful.

At least the tube had the two openings. Apparently some are fully enclosed?

This article is misleading as hell. From using "biological female" to refer to a transmale to saying that the guy is refusing to see a "potentially naked underage female", which, while true, is unlikely. Supervising a locker room doesn't mean just standing there watching the students change. It means being around in case of any issues or emergencies. And the transpeople I know are typically discreet when they change in locker rooms; they don't just flaunt themselves around naked. Besides, the way the article is worded implies that it's okay the PE teacher just sits around and watch underage boys naked, as long as they're boys.

With that being said, the school was pretty stupid to retaliate against the PE teacher for something like this. I feel like a better compromise could have been reached.

But that doesn't change the fact that this article used the most flowery wording possible to make this situation seem a lot worse than it is.

This episode was a nice change of pace to the usual zaniness of the show. I enjoyed the heartfelt moments and the character building of Eleanor and Tahani.

I see the last two episodes the show has slowed its pace down a bit and focusing on the whole "let's save other people" bit. I think it's welcome, though. The pace of the first three episodes, if continued the whole season, would have eventually gotten through too much, too fast.

Though I don't expect this status quo to remain long. Isn't the next episode the midseason finale? I expect another earth-shattering twist that changes the entire arc of the show by the end of the next episode.

My first experience with Superman was not the comics, but those old, short technicolor cartoons that would air back in the day.

Even rewatching them now, I am able to appreciate how those shorts managed to build so much tension through Superman's struggles in that 8-minute cartoon, whether it was fighting robots or saving citizens. It simultaneously showed him as this super strong man but also a guy susceptible to pain and anguish.

I have seen this kind of thing posted on social media by people I know. The problem with this line of thinking is that it misrepresent what a lot of moderates/centrists believe.

People assume that moderates are always split down the middle on every issue, such as that ridiculous "let's kill half the kittens issue". When in reality, they just side on individual issues regardless of party and may lean on either side at a given time.

A better example would be that in the above comic, the moderate says "no I agree with the eagle who says to kill no kittens" but then agree with the elephant on a different issue later that day.

My new job makes this easier, because sick leave and vacation leave are both under the personal leave umbrella. So if I need to take off, I don't need a reason. I just tell my boss I'm taking off.

In my old job, where sick leave was its own category (and the fact that we accumulated it so quickly), I felt like I was under more scrutiny to tell my boss why I was taking sick leave. Although I'm sure it was just in my head because my boss didn't ever seem to really care why I was using my sick leave.

Out of curiosity, was this episode the clearest confirmation we've had of Eleanor being bisexual? She'd made a few references to Tahani, but those could pass as Tahani just being fuckin' gorgeous. But in this episode, she was curious if a female schoolmate was into her.

You know, I've always just seen it as a running gag. Like that Eleanor is obviously straight but makes inappropriate comments about other girls cause that's just how she was. Also it could just be that Tahani is beautiful enough to make anyone bi. But you're right, this episode does make it seem that Eleanor may really be bi and it's not just a joke to her.

She wasn't? I didn't notice that. I thought she was wearing a really short skirt. I guess my respect for longcoats just overrides that

Yeah, my understanding of that scene was that she was naked under that coat, hence why they cut away from her front side when she was in the process of opening it.

Not a movie, but in A Series of Unfortunate Events (Neil Patrick Harris version), most of the deaths are pretty unfair. But the one that particularly made me uncomfortable was the librarian's death when she got thrown in the lion's pit. She did not deserve such a fate considering how much good she had done throughout the series up until that point. What a horrible way to go. If there was anything positive to come out of it, it was to watch the crowd's cheering faces fade when they realized the reality of watching a person being eaten alive.

Since you're giving out advice - I graduated in 2015 but spent another year getting a paralegal certificate afterwards. Since then, I've had very infrequent temp positions, to the point that my resume has large gaps of unemployment. I just started volunteering at courthouses for experience, but is there anything else I should be doing?

What did you graduate in? I'm guessing the paralegal certificate you want to be involved in law, but what areas of law? Do you just want to be a paralegal?

If so, then your gaps of unemployment can easily be brushed aside by creating a skill-based resume instead of a chronological-based resume (look those up). A skill-based resume focuses more on the skills you've learned in your temp jobs moreso than the temp jobs themselves.

Volunteering at a courthouse is a great start, but are you networking there? Do the workers there know you by name yet? Do they like you? You need to engage in some water cooler talk and talk to everyone from the desk clerks to the judges when the opportunities present themselves. Every now and then, bring up in the conversation how your goal is to do ________ just so they are aware of it. Previous posters are right in that the right connections can get you a job.

It's not only who you know, but more importantly, who knows you.

Those are some good starting points based on the info you gave me.

Hilarious show about the behind-the-scenes drama in the movie extras industry. Ricky Gervais plays a fictionalized version of himself starring in a British slapstick comedy and the bastardization of his life in the process.

That sounds hilarious. I looked it up and I see it was an HBO show. Being that Episodes is a Showtime show, it wouldn't surprise me that it was "inspired" by Extras to rival it (although it came out several years later).

Also, the running gag with the character Morning, who was Matt LeBlanc's counterpart, constantly bringing up how she was as well known for being "Kelly" from "Kelly Girl" just as Matt was known as "Joey" from "Friends" had me confused as to whether or not "Kelly Girl" was a real show.

Turns out it isn't. Well, a "Kelly Girl" show exists but it's not the one she's talking about and she's certainly not in it. It's just surreal how the show blends real-life situations with fictional ones to the point that you can't tell what's accurate and what's satire.

Back in my college days I wasn't really into the party scene, so it came as a surprise to me during a conference I attended with a bunch of typical partiers. I was the only one that had just turned 21 that was staying at the hotel and the others were begging me to buy them alcohol cause they were bored. And it was very sad to see because you could just tell that they didn't know what to do with themselves with alcohol in their systems. They guys and girls that I usually saw as confident and outgoing were reserved and quiet, not knowing what to do in a new location without getting drunk.

I thought it was just a college think but my new job now involves a lot of networking at social gatherings to get new clients and these social gatherings pretty much suck until a few hours in when all these executives are drunk and spewing out inappropriate jokes at every turn. It's fascinating to watch as someone who doesn't drink.

But I've definitely noticed this culture that is built around alcohol for many major groups in the US. Without it, people really seem to be out of their element, like some form of light, psychological withdrawal.
