Pretty much, basics are

-10 unique units( no dupes), in two teams(offense starts the battle, defense is backline)
-loadouts are separate from main loadout(ala arena)
-can swap any unit out for another on the team before any unit does an action for a turn.
-Units in defense line are "frozen in time", so any buffs/debuffs they have stay frozen until they get back to the offense line
-If a ko'ed unit ends a turn in the defense line, it cannot be swapped to offense for the rest of the battle(Side note: if your offense line is wiped,defense line swaps in and your old offense line is gone for the rest of the battle).

The trials themselves are late-game, definitely. Some are easier than others, and the first three have definitely been power crept, but all require a good amount of prep.

Step 4 gave me Citra and(maybe) 7*Ayaka
And 5* extra reward tix gave me...my 5th Luneth :P

Will definitely kick to step 5 when I can.

Whoops, misread that...but there is still a point to be made here.

Zarg actually is pretty unique in the fact that he can actually be a decent support provoke tank; why bring a tank when you can just let Zarg do it for you and support you?

He has innate evade, the judge cape gives him provoke...I think the rotation I gave him when I used it for a trial was Provoke->Archadian Light->Rejuvinate

Sure, lack of specialization means he's not as efficient at either as, say WoL or Nichol, but it opens up a slot or at least frees up a role which is invaluable with battle needing more and more roles filled recently to up the challenge.

Just gotta get evade and provoke gear, stick an extra provoke in your rotation, and ta-da!

So
Going off the adrenaline of beating the lady I thought I would go after the crown.

Brachium was an odd one. The first half is easy: get a sacrificial lamb to tank his assassinations, heal up on the thresholds, remember to attack after said thresholds, and an evade tank makes the rest of his attacks laughable.

...then the second half happens and you either kill him quick with fire or be ready to tank magic attacks all day. I chose the former(since I have ace and Dragonlord), but I was always 6% off death...until I remember that killers are a thing.

Wilhelm was my sacrificial lamb

Ayaka made sure he didn't truly die

Fry and Raegen were chainers( putting a fire sword on Fry made me sad)

Nichol and Lid buffed and broke

Ace did the imperil

WoL evaded and broke (love how he's still so useful today <3)

Rydia got espers( need to learn how to time Baha, though; no esper kill moogle for me :< )

And Dragonlord cooked the assassin clean with killers and Kafrizzle chained.

It's... not the the hardest trial in the clock, but it does ask a lot of you.

First and foremost, for the first half, she sets the tempo of the battle since hard thresholds every 10% until after 49%.

You're gonna need a good amount of MP heals( not regen, heals, though regen can help) since Confession deals a lot of MP damage every three turns and after the regen kicks in.

You are also required to have both Physical and Magical damage since she alternates between resisting one or the other for most of her first half.

At the 79%-69% thresh: total resist to fire/water/lightning/water. Along with the innate light resist, that's 5 elements out of the running for damage for part of the fight.

Sleep resist/heals for for her preemptive Cradle attack and Para resist/heals for her Shackles to start her second half.

ST death to highest SPR unit to both start her second half and every few turns after, so either provoke with death resist or re-raise that.

Other than that, mag tank to take her aoe( preferably with 200% wind if not bursting her down in one turn after second form starts), physical provoke to tank her standard attacks and Loitering Dead in the second half, and a nice breaker(she is weak to all of them) to both make her hurt less and offset her buff in the middle of her first half.
And for missions: <30 turns, evoke Golem, no LBs

Barb at 7* is fun

Also, got me a quintessence. No need for dual wield for my top mage anymore :P

Due to item world, had a fling with Vindematrix. She played a bit hard to get, but she got to love my charm in the end. Sadly over 30 turns( because MP drain from Confession sucks), but got the skill and the moogle for Quintessence, so all good.

Soleil helped make T1 suck much less with her buff and break.

Marie was supposed to help me tank the 60% thresholds, but I mistimed the first, so she just gave me barrier instead.

Zarglebargle(6*) gave reraise( mostly to Basch) and mp heals.

VoD(6*) gave me the physical dark chains for Malphasie for the physical phases( and a backup breaker when Basch was occupied).

CG Nichol was MP battery and buffer.

Dark Fina gave me tornado chains for Malphasie for Magic phases.

Ayaka(6*) gave me reraise and needed heals.

Wilhelm tanked alllll day( and thankfully I had his TM since he tanked a fatal hit during the fight) as well as get Golem off and break occasionally. Also had second highest SPR on the team as well as Safety Bit, so ST death proc was ez( of course, after having Ayaka swapped out).

Basch also tanked(and died/re-rose) all day and acted as my main breaker. 200% wind resist also made the second form pretty cake.

And the third star was Malphasie. Holy hell, having 2 chaining families to work off of is sexy as hell and, unlike the rest of the DR chainers barring VoD, her wind and dark focus kept the elemental resist phase from being a problem. God damn do I love the female hybrid units in this game.

Now to get that dagger with some skills....

Two things:
TEMMIE armor decreases its cost whenever you die, iirc.

And the dog stuff can be used as an infinite money trick due to replication(and heals due to the occasional dog salad), but both are optional.

7* Orlandeau is still damn fine, Wilhelm is an amazing tank, and Olive is a beautiful finisher.

As for your 6*:
Alieen is still amazing, CG nichol is still one of the best buffers right now and Loren and Lasswell are going to be amazing soon enough.
Your bad row of luck is terrible, but don't overlook the good tools you have already.

Hashiko's trial was annoying but tolerable.

Once the MP drain was dealt with, the rest was just wearing it down. Sucks that all my friends were Hyoh, but Fryevia helped keep the damage decent.

Ayaka as stone removal(cause no Hyoh status resist :/) and mp battery.

It's 1 of 2 things.

1)you kill the boss before the esper can get their attack off and no attack happens even though the animation does.

2)The esper gets their attack off...but before the bar depletes.

Either make it the attack that finishes it or make it hit during overkill.
