The plot of the early episodes is just to get to know the characters. So it can rip your heart out later. Would watch again.

Yeah, even if the early parts are really slow, theres something comfortable and familiar about watching these characters grow and interact with each other.

I remember Megidramon hitting me a lot harder than Skull Greymom did, though they were both great moments.

So it finally started picking up, like episode 19, the one where the horse kicks the crap out of Impmon. Finally feels like theres some real stakes to these fights. I also always really liked the lore in this show, with Henrys dad and the other nerds, which we finally start seeing about this time.

I tried to get into Frontier a few years ago and remember liking the beginning a bit. But I also remember watching the later episodes back on Jetix and getting salty that the episodes were all the same lol. Maybe if they actually worked as a team the Royal Knights wouldnt have kicked their butts so often lol

I dont have the tapes, but Ive got the 2004 DVDs that have the theatrical cuts.

Tbh though I actually really liked the 90s versions. Only really goofy thing about them was the song in Jabbas palace.

That's pretty much comics in other media, period, though.

The DC shows were pretty good at subverting it though.

Im like a few episodes into the Deva arc. The characters have been incredibly well developed but the actual stories are kinda boring. And the villains are always underwhelming. Maybe in the beginning this could be fine but the big group of Boss Rush monsters feel so...weak.

Will say the one thing this series does really well are small character moments. Last episode just spent 30 seconds showing Rika giving Renamon an energy drink and Renamon noticing it was the first time she was given a gift. Like that is good, efficient story telling.

And then the rest of the episode is bloated with irrelevant fluff and a five minute battle. <_<

That said, is it not that popular? I can only seem to find the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and the first 24 episodes of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders.

It's extremely popular in Japan and has a huge cult following here, but who knows.

The anime is finished through Part 4 and is beginning Part 5 next month.

The dub is finished through Part 3 and is just beginning to air Part 4 on Adult Swim.

That's just JoJo. But the sheer flamboyancy gets toned down a little bit with each passing part, though the weirdness never does.
