I really doubt that Lightning could beat Spyro, let alone Chun-Li. She and her game are just too widely hated.

I was talking mainly in terms of percentages, by which margin Metal Man should still have the lowest percentage for a character a Guest picked to win, though Lightning could make it close.

Is my Metal Man pick and write-up that forgettable?

I voted K. Rool because I thought Shepard would win reasonably comfortably, and Ocelot because of my bracket.

Sticking with characters who have been in this contest and at least one other, because there's no intrinsic reason to think characters from only CBX will keep being nominated, and because I don't want this list to be too long:

Lightning (No need for another match to prove that even a widely hated character can blow out sufficiently awful fodder.)
Neku Sakuraba (Winless fodder from a cult game.)
Yu Narukami (We really don't need multiple foddery Persona protagonists in one bracket.)
Aya Brea (She's got her win now, and one is enough for irrelevant fodder.)
Dragonborn (Skyrim's popular, sure, but he's just too weak and not distinct enough as a character.)
John Marston (Anyone who can be SFF'd by Kratos of all characters, especially despite new game hype, just doesn't belong.)
Ryo Hazuki (He shouldn't return unless Shenmue 3 actually comes out and blows everyone away.)
Ezio Auditore da Firenze (The Assassin's Creed series may have been influential, but it's also deader than disco on GameFAQs, and character design couldn't help Ezio enough.)
Riku (In retrospect, it's not surprising that his design and archetype would age badly, but still.)
Lucina (Marth actually has some proven strength, and Roy or Robin would at least be brand-new high fodder.)
Miles Edgeworth (Five contests is more than enough for fodder of this degree. Sometimes the truth hurts.)
Geno (Super Mario RPG fan-favorite status alone clearly isn't enough to have any strength on GameFAQs.)
Draven (Self-explanatory, but I'm glad he did come back this time.)
Lloyd Irving (At least Velvet is somewhat relevant and has character design that appeals strongly to voters.)

Seeing GLaDOS in action has me wondering how much of a decline Gordon has actually seen. No doubt Gordon's reputation has taken a hit with Half-Life 3 becoming the new Duke Nukem Forever, but I don't think we get to this much of a discrepancy without Bowser also taking an increase, especially since Gladdy didn't crash and burn to that extent with even the most pessimistic outlook on Mewtwo's strength

I guess you have a point, but GLaDOS took a pretty big hit from 2013 in her own right. You might forget that GLaDOS managed about the same percentage on Snake back in 2013 as she did on Mewtwo now. That puts GLaDOS at sub-2010 levels if you're like me and have a pessimistic view of Mewtwo's strength. I do think Bowser's strength has increased, though, but only by the standard margin we've seen from other well-established Nintendo characters so far.

Well, these results are unfortunate. You'd think from all the whining I see that KOS-MOS is blowing out Ellie, but she's not, and Quiet bombing and Ryu failing to impress against Lloyd isn't helping matters.

I guess I will go with 50% on a single-match bet on Dante.
