That is entirely acceptable, I'm just... just more that a bit bemused by the portion of fanbase that purposefully ignores 80% of the stages, mostly plays 10% at most of the roster, and turns off most of to ALL of the items in the game to *attempt* to make the game have a competitive scene. Ignoring the whole 'needing' a specifically broken controller to do techniques that 98/99% of the playerbase can't do *anyway.*

Honestly it's mostly just competitive Melee players who'll go back to a 17 year old fucking game after a *week* because Ultimate isn't it and they can't move on like decently adjusted human fucking beings. This is a gross generalization, I fully admit, but the fact it's a subset that exists to *begin* annoys me on a primal level. I'm on the heavy fringe side there though. ^_^'

Subnote: If you don't play most of the level because you simply don't think they're fun, or you don't *enjoy* playing most of the cast, that's entirely acceptable and I understand.

I respect attempts to play it as a 1 on 1 or seriously, I just don't have much respect for Smash as a competitive scene. Mostly Melee players, admittedly. One of the only entertainment related fanbases I'm willing to mock based on merit.
