I decided to get this day one. I've been holding out for a deal and Best Buy delivered. I preordered a copy and got my 20% Gamers Club discount, a $10 Best Buy certificate and the commemorative coin. (Plus, I'll get Piranha Plant for free as an early adopter.)

I've been ambivalent about Smash Ultimate during this hype cycle, but BB sweetening the pot like this won me over. And I'm flying on Saturday, so it'll be nice to have this as in-flight entertainment.

Unfortunately, Nintendo's BF approach is always to avoid price drops at all costs. They'll happily throw an older Mario game into their BF bundles, but that's the extent of their generosity. As a result, this GS deal is really great by Nintendo standards, since they decided to sweeten the pot themselves with store credit.

I'm inclined to agree with you. I actually have Bowser in my bracket, but I was consistently more impressed with Kirby all contest and began to feel like he could pull off an upset here.

2B continues to look more impressive with every passing round too, damn.

Also, I highly doubt Bowsette had any impact. That's like saying Pikachu overperformed on Zero because of the "open mouth Pikachu" meme. Actually, I'd have an easier time believing the latter, because at least that meme didn't die before the contest.

Charizard's performances were horseshit, no doubt, but Pokemon has looked healthy otherwise. Mewtwo put up a reasonable performance on GlaDOS, and Pikachu has looked sterling and is likely to win his division (and probably in a convincing fashion, at that; Knuckles embarrassed Zero badly).

I don't think Sora bombed per se. That match was always going to be a toss-up and he kept it respectably close.
