I feel like it should be either no DH, or every position should be eligible to be replaced by a DH I've suggested the idea of a DF (Designated Fielder) before on Discord, which would be a sneaky way of getting a DH in the NL without eliminating the pitcher hitting. It would also preserve double switches, but I guess fans of NL teams care far less about double switching than preserving the tradition of the pitcher hitting. The DF rule would be exclusive to the NL and would only be used by AL teams at an NL ballpark. The idea behind the DF is that both teams can choose one DF to play the field in place of one hitter in their line-up. The one exception is the pitcher spot, as you can't have someone field for the pitcher while he pitches. The manager of the team would have to declare a DF before the start of the game, or he would forfeit the right to use a DF for that game. One major problem with the DF rule is that you would be starting the game with a 4-man bench if you have to use a bench player as a DF, and you'd still have the pitcher batting meaning you'll need to use pinch hitters during the course of the game. This will be a problem in games where the starting pitcher is taken out early or the game goes extra innings. So you run the risk of depleting your bench in any game where a DF is used. Not going to elaborate right now, but this contest is being designed in a way to slow down the effectiveness of a rally. This will be a very good talking point on the first episode of The Show for this contest season, regardless of whether or not SB goes into more detail regarding his anti-rally measures. SB's post has already gotten other users talking about possible ideas to combat outside rallies, such as making votes from registered users having more weight than votes from unregistered users. Another possible idea was to hide the contest results while the match was in progress (excluding the first 5 minutes of live updating), which could be a huge blow to rallies since they wouldn't be able to observe the impact of their rallying attempts. The only real fix is no vote updates or requiring an account to vote. I actually don't mind the latter, since it's the best of both worlds. No vote updates (not even percentages or Geolocation results) beyond the first 5 minutes would be a good idea to limit rallying, since other sites are less likely to rally if they can't directly observe the impact of their rallying attempts. I'd certainly take N over any other (non-Red/Blue) Gen 1 trainer. A big issue with Brock and Misty will be the match pictures. When Brock and Misty are more likely to have their strength come from the anime, having a picture of their anime appearance would be most ideal to maximize their strength. The character design in the games generally differs from the design in the anime, which is a problem for Brock and Misty. The only way to most likely eliminate rallies is to only allow votes from those with GameFAQs accounts. But even then, it might be possible that someone could be so powerful that he/she could get thousands of outsiders to create accounts. Clearly we need to limit the number of rounds that have more than one match per day. Assuming a 128 character bracket, this is the number of matches per round that I would like to see: 4 - 2 - 2 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 This ends up being a 55 day contest, with only one round of 4 matches per day. When the rally call went out it didn't even show up as a blip in the poll updater. For comparison, the undertale_bot Twitter account has an immediate and massive effect on results whenever it retweeted a poll. The undertale_bot Twitter account having a massive effect on the results was a bit surprising since the account had under 10000 followers when it tweeted the polls during the 2015 contest. There were competitive Smash players with more than 100000 followers that tweeted during the CT/Melee match that produced a spike in the poll updater that lasted for maybe 30 minutes at the most before fizzling out, but undertale_bot with less than 10000 followers created a spike for Undertale that lasted for several hours. I think it's very important to make the contest voting more accessible to site visitors, because many visitors to the site have absolutely no clue that a contest is currently in progress. They can land on an FAQ from Google (or another search engine), get the information they need, and leave the site without knowing there's a contest running on the site. When I talk about making the contest voting more accessible to site visitors, I'm not trying to suggest the poll should be shoved in your face on every page of the site. A more reasonable solution is to place a small banner image in the site header, and clicking on this banner would take you to the voting page. This form of accessibility allows site visitors to reach the voting page easier, but without shoving the poll in their face.
