Controls for Xenoblade 2 suck so far :(.

Any good platformers on the Eshop for $20? Think I shouldve gotten Mario Odyssey.

Hollow Knight will fill that void for ya. Plays amazingly in handheld mode.

Hollow Knight is an amazing game but hardly qualifies as a platformer. There's platforming elements like many metroidvanias sure, but not a platformer.

TopicNearly 40% of all female suicides occur in India

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/sep/13/nearly-two-out-of-five-women-who-commit-suicide-are-indian

Nearly two in every five women in the world who kill themselves are Indian, according to a Lancet study published this week that says the countrys suicides rates constitute a public health crisis.

The rate of Indian women who die by suicide has fallen since 1990, but not as fast as elsewhere in the world, and now represents 36.6% of global female suicide deaths, the report in the UK medical journal found.

Indian women who died by suicide were more likely to be married, to be from more developed states and, by a large margin, aged below 35.

It shows girls in India are in serious trouble, said Poonam Muttreja, the executive director of the Population Foundation of India, a public health group.

She and other specialists blamed the trend on early marriage one-fifth of Indian women still marry before the age of 15 along with male violence against women and other symptoms of a deeply entrenched patriarchal culture.

The suicide rate among Indian women was three times higher than what might be predicted for a country with similar geography and socio-economic indicators, the researchers said.

Our social norms are very regressive, Muttreja said. In the village, a girl is called her fathers daughter, then she is her husbands wife, and when she has a son, she is her sons mother.

Muttreja said research carried out by her organization had shown that 62% of surveyed women believed it was legitimate for their husbands to beat them.

The researchers speculated the link between suicide and marriage was due to the burdens of youth motherhood, the low social status afforded to wives in some households, the lack of financial independence and exposure to domestic violence.

The disproportionately high suicide deaths in India are a public health crisis, the authors, who are mostly affiliated with Indian public health research groups, said.

Around one in four men in the world who die by suicide are Indian, roughly the same proportion as in 1990, the study said.

Suicide was also the leading cause of death for young people of both genders but was worse for women.

The study noted that suicide had recently been decriminalized, so there was a possibility the true rate could be even higher but hidden by families and doctors for fear of stigma or police interference.

Yet some people claim the problems with females and India are overblown. This is fucked up.

MANCHESTER, England - Englishman Andrew Wardle, 45, is finally celebrating following a procedure that gave him a bionic penis.

Wardle was born without a penis -- a 1-in-20 million birth abnormality.

Doctors created the bionic penis using skin from Wardles arm and nerves from his legs before attaching it during a 10-hour procedure in June, according The Sun.

Wardle suffered through a painful, 10-day erection following the surgery and was told he had to wait six weeks before having sex -- something hed never been able to do prior to the procedure.

The implant is made up of a saline reservoir that attaches to a pump and release valve inside Wardles scrotum, The Sun reported.

Wardle and his girlfriend are reportedly both pleased with the result of the phalloplasty and are hoping to have children next.

Bionic dicks, what a time to be alive!

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/henry-cavill-as-superman-warner-bros-dc-universe-shake-up-1142306

The DC cinematic universe appears to be losing its Man of Steel.

Henry Cavill, who has played Superman in three films, is parting ways with Warner Bros., sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. Though neither side is confirming, the British actor, who first donned the blue suit for 2013's Man of Steel, and then starred in 2016's Batman v. Superman and last year's Justice League, is said to be hanging up the red cape.

Warners had been trying to enlist Cavill, who most recently co-starred in Mission: Impossible Fallout, for a Superman cameo in Shazam!, which stars Zachary Levi and will bow April 5. But contract talks between Cavill's WME reps and Warners broke down, and the door is now closing on other potential Superman appearances.

That's because the studio has shifted its focus to a Supergirl movie, which will be an origin story featuring a teen superheroine. This effectively removes an actor of Cavill's age from the storyline's equation given that Superman, aka Kal-El, would be an infant, according to DC lore.

Furthermore, Warners isn't likely to make a solo Superman film for at least several years, according to another source. "Superman is like James Bond, and after a certain run you have to look at new actors," says a studio source. As such, Cavill will join Ben Affleck, who isn't expected to reprise his role for director Matt Reeves' forthcoming Batman stand-alone film, as a hero on the way out.

A Warners source says the Shazam! deal fell apart because of scheduling conflicts. And that is backed up by the fact that Cavill recently signed on to star in the Netflix series The Witcher. However, another source says that the Witcher commitment came after the Warners impasse, suggesting a change in Warners' strategy.

"There's a recognition that some parts of the previous movies didn't work," says the studio insider. Another source says Warners is trying to hit a "reset" button with the DC universe, steering its ship slowly into another direction.

While Affleck and Cavill are segueing out, others who were seen together onscreen in Justice League are carrying forward. Gal Gadot is returning for Wonder Woman 1984, to hit theaters in November 2019. Jason Momoa headlines a solo Aquaman movie this December. And Ezra Miller remains on board to star in a Flash movie, which is due to shoot in early 2019.

And the shitshow that is the DCEU marches on

In fencing, if you show this sort of disrespect to the ref, not only will you lose points or possibly the match, but you can also get a black card for severe infractions and get banned from subsequent tournaments.

If Serena wants to be treated as an equal, then first she needs to behave like a normal person instead of having emotional outbursts... did any of the men throw a temper tantrum like she did?

Men have, and the ones who did it to ths judge got penalized.

The judges shouldn't be overly litigious in a finals match.

Why should the ump go lax on the rules just because it's a finals match? They should be applied the same no matter what match it is. Also nothing that transpired over this incident was overly litigious. She broke rule after rule after rule.

I don't know enough about tennis to make any real judgment on the sexism claims, but objectively speaking I don't think it should ever be acceptable for a player or coach to speak to a referee that way regardless of the sport. If her objection is that men get away with it, then I think perhaps they should be more strict with the men. I don't really see what it has to do with this match though.

What do the stats say?

Williams, a 23-time Grand Slam champion, was one of 10 women punished for code violations at this year's US Open, while 26 men were fined.

Most of the fines issued were for racquet violations - 14 men and five women.

Three men and three women were penalised for an audible obscenity, five men were fined for time delays, while four men and one woman were penalised for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Williams was one of only two women punished for on-court coaching, alongside Slovakia's Dominika Cibulkova, while no men were penalised for this offence.

Former world number one Williams was the only player punished for verbal abuse, which landed her a $10,000 (7,732) fine - the largest issued at this year's tournament.

Williams' previous US Open controversies

2009 US Open semi-final: Already on a warning for racquet abuse earlier in the match, Williams launched into an angry outburst at a lineswoman after she was called for a foot fault which gave Kim Clijsters two match points. She was penalised a point for unsportsmanlike conduct and Clijsters won the match. Williams was placed on a two-year probation period and fined $175,000 (135,000), reduced to $82,500 (63,750) if she committed no further major offence through 2011.

2011 US Open final: Williams shouts "come on" as Sam Stosur attempts to return a shot and the point was awarded to the Australian. Williams then verbally abused umpire Eva Asderak and was fined $2,000 (1,265).

TopicTennis umpires are considering boycotting Serena's matches until she apologizes

Tennis umpires are so displeased with the situation surrounding Serena Williams and Carlos Ramos that they are reportedly considering boycotting the American's matches in the future.

While Naomi Osaka won her first-ever Grand Slam and Novak Djokovic continued his career resurgence in Flushing Meadows, the major tennis headline of the weekend was the outburst from Williams who claimed Ramos was being sexist in his decision to give her three code violations during the women's singles final.

During the second set against Osaka, her coach Patrick Mouratoglou was (admittedly) coaching her from the stands, which resulted in the first violation for the 36-year-old. Williams vehemently denied she received any coaching and later received a second violation for breaking her racquet in frustration, resulting in a point penalty as well.

She would then attack Ramos, demanding an apology and calling him a "thief" among other things before the experienced umpire gave her a third violation and a game penalty for verbal abuse.

Williams would go on to lose to Osaka and later accused Ramos of sexism after the match, citing how male players would not have been punished the same way for her conduct.

Both individuals received criticism for their actions in the final, especially considering how it affected Osaka during the trophy ceremony, though many also felt Ramos was simply doing his job.

The Women's Tennis Assocation (WTA) and United States Tennis Association (USTA) though, backed Williams' claims of sexism and according to the Times, this has further incensed some umpires:

Certain umpires were also discussing how they can take action to stand up for their profession. The main suggestion being, refusing to umpire any match involving Williams until she gives Ramos an apology for vilifying him.

Ramos is said to have earned a sum of just around $484, a standard daily fee, for overseeing the final, and while he is still in good spirits, he is receiving far too much attention and scrutiny for just doing his job.
Unlike the WTA and USTA, the International Tennis Federation have come to his defense, stating all his decisions were in accordance with the rules.

WTA chief Steve Simon, known to pander to star players, sided with Williams as he believes men and women are treated differently.

Djokovic, who has a history with Ramos, felt the Portuguese did push Williams to the limit, but did not agree with Simon's assessment that there is sexism when it comes to player treatment.

"Look, I love Serena, first of all. I really felt for her yesterday," Djokovic said after his win over Juan Martin del Potro. "Tough thing for a chair umpire to deal with as well. We have to empathize with him. Everyone was in a very awkward situation [Saturday]. A lot of emotions. Serena was crying. Naomi was crying. It was really, really tough."

"But I have my personal opinion that maybe the chair umpire should not have pushed Serena to the limit, especially in a Grand Slam final. Just maybe changed -- not maybe, but he did change the course of the match. [It] was, in my opinion, maybe unnecessary. We all go through our emotions, especially when you're fighting for a Grand Slam trophy."

"I don't see things as Mr Simon does. I really don't. I think men and women are, you know, treated in this way or the other way depending on the situation. It's hard to generalize things, really. I don't see it's necessary really to debate that," he added.

Good, I hope they do.

TopicThe NFL may have sent fake fan letters to the FCC in 2014 to keep blackout rule

https://www.theverge.com/2018/9/10/17840960/nfl-fake-fan-letters-fcc-2014-sports-blackout-rule

In 2014, the Federal Communications Commission received thousands of letters from NFL fans asking for it to keep a sports blackout rule intact a policy that allowed the NFL to block TV stations from airing games that werent sold out. The Wall Street Journal reports today that many of the letters appear to be fake: some signatures used fake names like The Hobbits Bilbo Baggins, and others used real email addresses but owners denied ever writing those letters.

Due to travel requirements, accessibility, and ticket prices, its clear why many people would prefer to watch football on TV, which leaves the NFL fighting to convince viewers to buy tickets to fill up stadiums that remain half empty. Thats why, in 1975, the NFL successfully convinced the FCC to enact the controversial blackout rule, which banned cable and satellite providers from airing select home games that havent sold out. With help from the rule, the NFL could simply choose which local TV broadcasts and which poorly selling games it wanted to block. In some years, that number was one game; in others, it was 15. Sometimes teams would purchase tickets to make sure games wouldnt be blacked out.
The letters began I write as a football fan and requested that the rule remain because, without it, premium television channels could start charging higher fees to broadcast games. The WSJ identified and interviewed fans whose names were used in the letters and were angry to be used as spokespeople for a cause they didnt believe in.

In 2014, the NFL also lobbied for the FCC to maintain its sports blackout rule. It hired four firms, one of which used a subcontractor to collect the fan letters, an anonymous source told the WSJ. The firms parent company Burson-Marsteller confirmed that it used grassroots practices to engage audiences, but refused to comment on the fake names. Burson-Marsteller said in a statement to The Verge: For our program with the NFL back in 2014, we used industry-leading and widely used online technology and practices based on targeted advertising and used by firms across the grassroots industry to engage key audiences and encourage them to take action on an issue.

Ultimately, despite the NFLs many efforts, the FCC repealed the sports blackout rule with a unanimous 5-0 vote in 2014, declaring it unnecessary and outdated. The FCC found that the NFL mainly makes money from television and that blackouts are increasingly rare. While the NFL could continue its own private policy to black out games, the FCC would no longer protect the policy. The FCC told The Verge, The FCC unanimously repealed the sports blackout rule in 2014, notwithstanding the letters in question, so the proceeding is no longer pending. The NFL didnt immediately respond to a request for comment.

And this is why we stream

Yes I have always thought this too. Goes with skipping filler in anime too

Hell no that's not the same, anime filler more times than not should be skipped.

Is it true that I should ignore the first season? I tried watching it a while ago and it wasn't that great but I heard the first season is not a good example of the series as a whole.

You should watch it and just keep in mind it will get better and better. Towards the end of season 2 is when it really hits its stride.

She likely has a point. Apparently male tennis players call out the refs but don't get penalized for it

She berated the ref and kept going at it. That's been her attitude over the years. When she's losing, he loses her cool and throws a tantrum.

This classic should remind you of who she is. She clearly had a foot fault, shown in the replay and she threatened to kill the lineswoman. She is a big baby, who has a history of bullying officials.
