After a long streak of great success in the post-raytan era, Locke seems to have hit rougher waters, with this being his worst performance since his debut back in the first contest. His numbers are still exceptional, with 7 top tens and a narrow finals loss to his name. Even with 20 placements, an elimination in the boot period is still going to hurt a fair bit, as Locke goes from 70.14% to 67.63%, dropping two spots in the STATS to 16th.

It's kinda why I am holding out for Rufus most rounds. He's legit top 10 for me, but I wasn't really planning on pushing him this year. But I don't really want to see him booted, even softly, because that still means it tears into my ability to get other things in too.

some characters simply don't have the support to go far, so it becomes a game of "do I let them get booted and be done with it or keep scraping through while hurting their STATS"

a character with three 85's and one 100 would have a STATS value of 12.25%, and since every round survived would be a 0.25% bump at 4 contests, just beating those metrics by 6 is enough to stay above Shuyin's 13.70%

in other words, Aranea had already prevented that last year by placing 78th

adding another soft boot doesn't help, either - when you're that low, that bumps you up anyway

you don't even have to kill any shining poms to get sepith - if you hit them on a turn with sepith up, they'll drop some anyway

(even better when aligned with a multi-hit attack)

After a couple years of heightened focus, Quina falls right back to a much more familiar area. Only three of Quina's appearances have reached the top half, and two of those only just. That said, Quina's STATS are a long cry from the bottom ten status they held three years ago. This result does take them down from 33.34% to 31.85% - a drop of three spots to 92nd - but that's still a full 10% higher than their nadir.

After a couple years of heightened focus, Quina falls right back to a much more familiar area. Only three of Quina's appearances have reached the top half, and two of those only just. That said, Quina's STATS are a long cry from the bottom ten status they held three years ago. This result does take them down from 33.34% to 31.85% - a drop of three spots to 92nd - but that's still a full 10% higher than their nadir.
