Yeah, I never understood that

Like, Sonic uses speed/momentum/etc. to deal with robots to virtually the same effect as people like Knuckles and Vector do with their strength, and the latter have been shown to be able to punch through steel reinforced doors with ease. They're not the most durable of things, but to act like they're made of paper is kinda silly since some of them still take multiple hits from the heavy hitters.

The argument was basically that Sonic breaks through Wall A no problem, but then if there's a point where something that looks like Wall A serves as a level boundary, he can't break through it, so Lopen was on the side of saying that means he can't break through Wall A at all.

Well the problem is, many many levels in the series are designed in a way where, "if this were real" and Sonic could smash through walls all the time, he'd tunnel through it and not bother playing with the maze. Punching through walls has always been more of Knuckles's 'thing' as a trademark. If Sonic by design is intended to be a tunneler the entire design of the games ends up different.

I mean this is literally what I'm saying, though. From even the first game, Sonic has been able to crash through stone/walls/etc. for shortcuts and the like. The only reason certain walls stop him is level design. They want you to have a level that you can actually play. Sonic levels follow a more linear path, even for characters like Knuckles outside of the emerald hunt stuff. It's no fun if you can literally get from Point A to Point B in a straight line. It's gameplay mechanics that he can't break through certain walls that he should be able to because that's how they laid out the course. If they were doing it to go "Well, no, Sonic can't crash through walls/etc.," then they'd never have him do it in the first place.

It's like arguing that Hulk can't break down a wall because certain games have the same concept.

Course boundaries are very much a gameplay mechanic and shouldn't be taken as some norm

That's a completely logical and appropriate response. Oh, to be clear, I'm not saying that is unprofessional, either.

I was simply trying to make the argument that saying "You shouldn't discriminate on choices" is too broad a thing to say.

Like, it goes beyond appearance, too.

If somebody chooses to drink and they smell of alcohol during the job interview, I'm going to at the least question if this would become a problem later on, and thus not treat them equally to as if they didn't show up with alcohol on their breath, and I don't really think that's a bad thing.

I think it's a pretty common and uncontroversial idea among people who have done hiring that Person B could be a fine choice. If you slightly prefer A then that's normal but it's not crazy to accept B. The way they talk will override anything about their dress anyway.

That's the main thing about presenting well for an interview anyways. If you're in a room of 100 people, you have to present well just to get the opportunity to say the first word. I never said it was crazy to accept B. The thing I was replying to was the thought that "You shouldn't discriminate against choices." If you choose to present yourself in a poor manner, then discrimination against you is pretty fair. That doesn't mean you're actually a horrible worker or anything, but if you choose to pretty much tank the first impression, then yes, that's going to work against you and you'll need to make up for it. Obviously, it's not impossible that you could.

Anyhoo, there are things to dislike about it, sure, but people have a reeeeally hard time accepting a "Just don't buy it, then" response. Nintendo have flat out said a more traditional game is in the works for next year, but people still want to endlessly bitch about LGPE and put down anybody that wants to get it because ???. The company the guy currently works for has printed stuff for games before, and the pictures match examples of other schematics/etc. the company has in a video on their website, so it's not completely dead yet.
