TopicHow is Persona 3 FES compared to Persona 3 Portable?

It makes me sad that those beautiful animations are completely lost to people who have to downgrade and experience Persona 3 on the PSP.

The visual novel style is super lame, too. I get that there is a subset of people who play Persona games strictly for the story and who aren't actually into playing videogames (which is why they typically include a super-easy mode for those players), but I felt no connection to my character in P3P.

Persona 3 was built around the idea that you only control the MC and the other party members act as support, because your MC can effectively fill any battle role necessary.

Players who have a problem with not controlling the other party members are probably just bad at the game LOL

Anyway FES is the best version by far. The transition to Portable loses a lot of the game's nuance and the difficulty was shot to hell.
Plus you miss out on 20+ hours of endgame content so I guess if you like getting shafted, P3P is the game for you.

I'm not sure of the nitty-gritty details, but this seems like Entrapment 101

A typical entrapment scenario arises when law enforcement officers use coercion and other overbearing tactics to induce someone to commit a crime

They are not being coerced or otherwise unnaturally induced to commit this crime, so no, its not.

I feel like leaving a bunch of Nikes in a poor black neighborhood (where basketball is well-documented as the only escape) to see if anyone tries to nab a pair might fall under overbearing tactics, tbh

The truck was unmarked and locked. You could only find out they had shoes inside if you broke the lock with bolt cutters (which they did) and opened it up.

I'm just asking the question.

If we're going to entertain the idea that we have to pander to anyone's personal vision of reality, then it has to go both ways.

And if you're going to claim you're being hurt because someone doesn't prescribe to what you believe in, you probably need help.

so what makes your personal view on reality the "correct" one?

I'm not saying mine is the correct one.
But what I am saying is that I have a view I believe in and it doesn't hurt me if other people don't feel the same way, because I'm a well-adjusted person.

I'm going to counter by saying that if your entire identity is so wrapped up in what gender you are that being misgendered or another person not recognizing it for what you think it is will destroy your world or consider you "erased," you might need to seek professional help.

Human beings are incredibly complex and can accomplish so much within their lifetimes in the workplace, interpersonal relationships, the arts, among their peers - I'm a male, I've always identified as male, but being male isn't my identity.

If for any reason you thought I was a female or you misgendered me, I wouldn't fall apart into a crumpled mess of erased existence. If you told me males weren't real, it wouldn't shatter my worldview.

It's trying to make your gender your identity that's the problem, not other peoples' interpretation of it.

So what I'm getting is the argument for is "Well why does it hurt you to acknowledge it?" And people are saying because it might not be true, so why acknowledge something that isn't yet proven? But that's bad because it hurts feelings.

But if the argument against is "Why does it hurt you if someone doesn't acknowledge it?" The only real counter argument is that it might hurt feelings.

Why don't people just, like, grow up?

So what if you flip the script and say, "What's the harm in people who identify as non-binary understanding that it's a pseudo science that may or may not have any real grounding in reality, so while they're welcome to entertain these ideas, they should recognize that the world at large will likely ignore it and not play into it?"

Is that offensive to people?

And yes by the way, I DO have a Rick and Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance.

The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existential catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons.
I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them.

I played the beta for a while and it was kind of meh.
The storyline was straight up trash but I guess you don't really play it for that. The overall mechanics aren't terrible but like has already been mentioned, the menus are way too cluttered and I don't know if they've added a way to play in landscape mode but if not, they really need to.

The color scheme is offensive on the eyes, too, and while this is a personal complaint it feels way more like a Persona game than a Shin Megami game. I imagine that's by design but it's still a bit disappointing.

I don't think it's the worst thing ever but there are way better games in this genre to be playing right now.

(Only minor spoilers in OP, probably more spoilers to come as topic continues. This is the warning)

The Purge movies have been getting consistently better, with Election Year being a genuinely fun action movie. I was really hyped going into The First Purge, and very disappointed to find out it was a boring, by the numbers "action horror" with no teeth.
The characters are unlikable, the script was garbage, and the lack of resolution (despite it being a prequel) was jarring.

A few of the action scenes were well done and The Purge movies typically have some neat imagery which was on brief display, but a lot of it was marred by bad lighting and awkward camera transitions. I'm genuinely surprised DeMonaco wrote it considering his messages used to be more subtle, but not so surprised he passed on directing it considering the political spectrum.
I don't think McMurray was ready to take on a movie with this many moving parts, however.

Y'lan Noel did a great job with what he was given for his part, and while Dmitri is not a likable or redeemable character, he's at least fun to watch. I wish I could say the same about the rest of the principal cast, however. Lex Scott Davis especially was completely phoning it in, and couldn't even get her accent right half the time.

Anyway I wouldn't say it's anywhere close to the worst movie I've ever seen, but it was a shit tier film and I wouldn't rush out to catch it. The theater experience adds nothing to this one.
