Cache of weapons that came with @playmobils police helicopter/motorcycle given to my son by very well-meaning relatives. 1 gas mask. 3 handguns. 1 Machine gun. 1 baton. 1 asp. 1 set of handcuffs. 1 flashlight. Loves the helicopter. I confiscated the rest. Why are these included?

Approximately 2900 people have been shot dead by police in America since Michael Browns killing in 2014.



An asp is a retractable metal baton used to subdue people with brute force. When an officer broke into my clients house in 2015 & couldnt get his asp open, he jabbed him in the back repeatedly w/ the sharp base, taking chunks of skin out of his back. Wounds havent healed.



After Rodney Kings horrific assault, the baton became a symbol of law enforcement abuse. Its use has declined dramatically. In 1990, it was used 741 times by LAPD. By 2015, that number declined to 54. Still necessary for these toys though. Someone might need a beating, I guess.



This image. This gas mask. This anonymous officer. In light of what weve seen with violent suppression of peaceful protest historically & what were hearing & seeing now on the border with @CBP agents hurling poisonous gas at unarmed women and children seeking asylum. Too much.



Even the more benign common items are all-too-familiar tools of capture & invasion of privacy my clients face everyday. Early morning home raids with the strobe light effect of officer flashlights bounding off bedroom walls. Too-tight cuffs on young black men up against walls.



These officers are militarized. Armed to exact violence. To injure. To terrorize. To suppress voice, violate rights. In many ways, theyre a reflection of the reality of police forces, force & violence. But Dont think its meant as a political statement. Nor would 3 y/o get it.



Oh man. Went down the rabbit hole. They have a prison too. Its bad.

4 handguns. 2 machine guns. 2 sniper rifles. 2 battons. 1 weapons locker.



Here is a sociopathic smiling guard holding a sniper rifle in his torture chamber full of weapons & handcuffs with a prisoner already missing half his body.

But at least theyre only locking up real bad guys like this crazed monster with what looks like bloody shanks attaches to his legs.

Ive been thinking a lot about where the anger, ad hominem attacks on my masculinity & capacity as a father, & general classic bullying behavior in the majority of these comments comes from. Kept coming back to insecurity. This study came out today:

The first thing I was taught in my conceal carry class was that as soon as the threat is down or disarmed, you either holster your weapon or if police are on the scene, you immediately put it down because the cops can mistake you for the bad guy.

Just saying, but maybe this isn't so much a "the guy was black" thing and it was a "the guy was carrying a weapon in a threatening manner in a mass shooter situation."

Of course, the cop who was all gun ho and apparently shot him without issuing any commands whatsoever needs to be prosecuted still.

How come people like the aurora shooter and the Charleston shooter get talked down and maybe they even get a Burger King run instead of getting killed? Do you think they holstered their weapons before the cops arrived?

No because its a pisspoor excuse for including diversity without actually promoting it. World War 2 included more than 30 countries, yet theres no sign of anyone other than the British and Germans. They couldve showcased badass women like those in the Soviet front, or included Japanese and Chinese troops, they couldve had Indians fighting for the allies in Africa, or the Maori as well. Thats diversity. Thats showing sides of the war that are rarely exposed by videogames. Its so easy to show that the war wasnt just fought by white men.

The issue is that instead of that, they created nonsensical characters that couldve never existed, feature stories that are blatantly against the timeline of the war, and include the least amount of factions in any of the most recent Battlefield games.

But yeah, people are mad because of the Asian women fighing for Germany.

Battlefield 1 did a much better example for promoting diversity in a way that doesnt completely contradict history.

Now we have devs saying that people need to grow up and read a book. Thank you for educating me on the incredibly accepting and open minded Nazis, DICE.
