Gabby was the worst. Glad to see her gone. It was hilarious that Gabby suddenly turns on Christian after she sees he has a girlfriend. She clearly wanted to be his girlfriend. Literally the worst player, how she has a big following baffles me. She was a very boring player.

I agree with being glad she's gone, but this whole "he has a gf" being the reason she went after him seems bogus. For Sofia Jao, BC 22, problems with the performance resided not in the set, but with Patels closing remarks.

I really dislike when people who are older say that our generation needs to be exposed to the real world. Obviously the world is not a safe space but just accepting that it's not and continuing to perpetuate the un-safeness of it is saying that it cant be changed, said Jao. Saturday Night Live writer and comedian Nimesh Patel was pulled from the stage by event organizers after telling jokes that were criticized as racist and homophobic during his performance at cultureSHOCK: Reclaim, an event held by Columbia Asian American Alliance on Friday night.

Patel, 32, was the first Indian-American writer for SNL, and has since been nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing. Patel has previously performed on Late Night with Seth Meyers and opened for comedians such as Chris Rock.

During the event, Patels performance featured commentary on his experience living in a diverse area of New York Cityincluding a joke about a gay, black man in his neighborhoodwhich AAA officials deemed inappropriate. Patel joked that being gay cannot be a choice because no one looks in the mirror and thinks, this black thing is too easy, let me just add another thing to it.

About 30 minutes into Patels set, members of AAA interrupted the performance, denounced his jokes about racial identities and sexual orientation, and provided him with a few moments for closing remarks. Compared to his other jokes, ones specifically targeting sexual orientation audibly receive less laughter from the crowd.

Patel pushed back on the officials remarks, and said that while he stood in solidarity with Asian American identities, none of his remarks were offensive, and he was exposing the audience to ideas that would be found in the real world. Before he could finish, Patels microphone was cut from off-stage, and he proceeded to leave.

cultureSHOCK, an annual charity showcase featuring a fashion show, productions by various student groups and a famous performer, aims to provide a platform for Asian American artistic expression and breakthrough harmful stereotypes.

In an official statement released on Dec. 3, AAA stated that while they acknowledge that discomfort and safety can co-exist, the discomfort Patel caused with his remarks and overall performance opposed AAA and cultureSHOCKs mission to celebrate, empower, and explore identity in a safe space. They apologized for inviting him to perform at the event.

Patel could not immediately be reached for comment.

Adam Warren, CC 22, was in the audience Saturday night. Warren said that AAA made the right decision to remove Patel from the stage due to the nature of his jokes, which contradicted the sensitive nature of the event itself.

The message they were trying to send with the event was opposite to the jokes he was making, and using peoples ethnicity as the crux of his jokes could be funny but still offensive...He definitely wasnt the most crass comedian Ive ever heard but for the event it was inappropriate, Warren said.

However, audience member Elle Ferguson, BC 22, said that while comedians can push the boundaries of social culture, she had heard similar jokes before and did not find them offensive.

While what some of the things that he said might have been a bit provoking to some of the audience, as someone who watches comedy a lot, none of them were jokes that I hadnt heard before and none of them were jokes that elicited such a response in my experience, Ferguson said. [AAA] should have talked to him beforehand especially because comedy is known for being ground-breaking and for pushing boundaries.

Thanks guys. I guess I made a great decision in accepting the job offer. It's a Japanese company too. They treat everyone like family here. A lot of the salary men here have been here for 20+ years.

I had a brief stint with a Japanese company once. The factory portion wasn't much different than any American factory but the front office part was weird. A good portion of the Japanese guys were actually from Japan who come here for 6 months to years at a time, and many of them barely spoke English so there were some obvious language barriers. Pretty no nonsense environment but friendly at the same time. Most of them seemed to really like IT, probably because we upgrade their iPhones every year. I happened to be there for one of these upgrade periods and they were lining up with excitement.

If you want to point out a problem, its that it doesn't work out all that well in the end. The moral is "don't bully someone who is different because there might be a unique circumstance years from now where that kids specific deformity will save the day". After a week of reports that "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" was sexist, bigoted and abusive, an original actor of the classic film has had enough.

Corrine Conley, who voiced the doll in the 1964 children's movie, said the flap about the bullying in the film misses the point.

"Certainly in 'Rudolph the Red-Nosed Red Deer' everyone is reconciled happily at the end of the movie," she told TMZ. "And let's hope in today's society the things people are bullying about can also be rectified."

Last week, Huffington Post, tweeted a short video calling the show "seriously problematic" that captured film scenes and a round-up of Twitter reaction.

The school coach encourages bullying, a video caption reads:

One scene, for example, shows Rudolph's coach saying, "From now on, gang, we wont let Rudolph join in any reindeer games, right?"

Clarice's dad is a bigot, another video caption reads:

Clarice, the girl reindeer and Rudolph's crush, is forbidden from hanging out with him when her dad says, "Now there is one thing I want to make very plain: No doe of mine is going to be seen with a red-nosed reindeer."

Donner forbids his wife from joining the search for his son, another caption reads:

"No. This is man's work!" Sorry, Rudolph's mom. Doesn't the cave need sprucin' up?

Conley said sometimes people cry when they learn she was one of the voices in the film because it's touched so many people.

While the film DOES contain bullying even Santa berates Rudolph's dad for something his son was simply born with she says it all works out in the end. That, to her, is what matters.

"I just can't imagine it affecting anyone in a negative way. They must be like scrooge," she said. "Tell them to watch 'Scrooge.'"

I don't know about sexist or bigoted but the message of the movie is a little messed up. As one reviewer once put it, "Deviation is only accepted if it can be exploited."

Overall though it's a childhood favorite of mine so I still like it and don't see how people are offended over it.
