So of the first batch, I can 7* Luneth, Ramza, Orlandeau, Lightning, SBDF and Dark Fina.

I assume Orlandeau is the most worthwhile of those?

The only outright iffy one is Luneth. Finas can chain magic, Lightning can chain with Tidus, Ramza can now pick 2x 60% debuffs and apply all before singing.

Orlandeau will have a notable powerboost now for him to 680% on DR.

Fina: Better rotations with Divine Veil, Shining Cheer and Manatopia. Can Reraise whole party cheap.

Ayaka: Stop proof, can unstop people. Can lay on timed stop proof for everyone soonish. Will be barrier-girl later. Harder to kill to boot.

As long as you know what you are doing since some do perform better like Rinoa.

Squall we are waiting for his enhancements, since I am not sure Gumi can do enough to sway people besides his STMR is really nice. (Bad mods. =_=.)

Limit banners have a shot at Mixer for 7* awakening crystal which is an option later on.

My question would be if you are going for favorites or for a practical reason since Squall himself is underwhelming, while Arngrim is sought after for his STMR.

You got your second Loren, or am I misinterpreting this? If so, she's one of the best 7*s around. CG Lid level breaks with insane imperils and chaining damage.

Loren is very usable as a 7* with her arsenal. If you eventually get better units or step into the W-TDH meta you can retrofit her as a debuffer.

So what are the actual good units for each role these days? I was thinking about maybe trying to tackle some of the 3* Espers, but I havent actually attempted to clear any content in like 6 months.

Magic tank: Chow/Basch/Mystea/Shylt/Awakened Rain.

Tank: Basch/WoL/Earth Veritas/.
(Secondary would be Ashe's husband, Charlotte, Barusa. Gladiolus works if you pumped his hp along with def. )

Provoke:

WKN/WoL(If 100% evasion.)/ Wilhelm/LMS/Barusa/Ozetta/Cagnazzo/Vagrant Knight Rain.

Or anyone with moogle plushie+provoke with 100% evasion.

Magic damage:

Trance Terra/Snow girl/GL Sakura/Barbariccia/Lexa/Mediena

CG Sakura/Emperor/Dragonlord.

Physicals:

Landau-family

Tidus

Femmebots if specced. (TDH FD for 2B)

Light Veritas

Kunshira

(Both are very specialized just like Fryevia.)

Lila

Onion Knight still works.

Support:

Cerius (Enhanced 100% fire/thunder/ice cloaks.)

Zargabaath/CG Nichole/Bards/Rikku/Soleil/Chloe/Minfilia/Marie, etc.

Healers:

CG Fina/Ayaka.

Rena/Roselia.

Below that we have Tilith, lb-specced Rosa, Eiko, and the rest.

Finishers:

Olive

Etc..

Breakers:

Ramza, basically anyone with 60%.

Yeah, I'm borrowing Olives off my friendlist just so I can actually hit the 4 mil damage I need for max coinage. The lack of chaining damage counting really bites, and unfortunately I don't have any of the super-powerful finishers I'd actually need to make this work. The ones I do have require setup or a couple of turns to build power, and that just doesn't cut it.

Don't forget the Araneas. One jump kills.

The problem is that he doesn't get dual ability casting, nor a heavy single hit attack to really warrant it.

You will still use his old attack, or Amaterasu.

As for EV, he is pretty good now if you don't run WoL already. Or Basch.
It depends if you like his auto-heal and less flexible equipment selection.
