If someone has a penis, they are a member of the male sex. If that person identifies as female, then their gender is female. That's a fact that you can't deny just because you want to sound smart. It's up to you to do what you want with that information, but it is absolutely transphobic to intentionally use a not preferred pronoun to describe a trans person. Its certainly rude and disrespectful, not something I would choose to do. But I really think calling it transphobic is a huge stretch.
