People can come away from real life with different lessons. For me, I've seen people trash my town for millions of dollars of damage over losing a hockey game. If the worst thing people are doing is making angry message board posts over a contest match, that barely registers as a problem to me. In real life, people can be much, much worse than that.

Snake would not beat Mario. Snake fell off a lot. He would still dominate a non-N9 bracket, but he isnt among the upper echelon like the last few contests.

If only we could get that as a bonus match after the true contest final. I had an idea of getting some matches involving only the Noble Nine that have never happened in a 1v1 match. There's only 6 potential match combinations meeting those requirements.

Cloud/Mega Man
Crono/Samus
Crono/Sephiroth
Mario/Sonic
Mega Man/Samus
Sephiroth/Sonic

That's all of the remaining Noble Nine match-ups which have not happened in a 1v1 match. If we were to run multiple bonus matches at the same time, I assume Allen would avoid using the same character in more than one match. Which limits us to a maximum of 3 matches running at the same time. My personal picks are Cloud/Mega Man, Crono/Sephiroth, and Mario/Sonic.

We're going to have Link/Zelda for the Winner's Bracket Final, and it's possible Zelda may beat the winner of Cloud/Mario and have a Link/Zelda true final.

It's an insane unpredictable run that wasn't caused by rallies for once, this is the kind of shit that makes these contests so damn special after all these years.

Here's a wild thought:

If our first Character Battle was in 1996, Mario, Sonic, and Mega Man are by far the strongest characters in the field.

Again....Lttp did exist and so did LA and is stronger than any MM/Sonic game. Link would still beat MM and Sonic. But theyd be close matches. Mario would be clear fav though.

OoT just put Link on a God like status because that game was links first 3D game. His 2d games arent niche. Even by that point Im pretty sure Zelda series outsold the sonic series. It definitely outsold the MM series.

Crono did a lot or is doing a lot better in Europe than I expected.

Link could be pushing 69% by the end of the match. Absolutely crazy how far ahead he is of everyone.

Cloud should break 42-43 % on him but thats as much as ANYONE will do this contest. And even that is poor. Cloud got 52 47 48 and 46 or around those % against him in the past. This might be his worst but st this rate he should focus more on looking good against Samus and Mario.

Link/LoZ has historically been one of the worst options to stop a rally (0-3 against them). He and OoT are probably the biggest test those rally entries have run up against, but they are also at absolutely their most determined when they face him.

Regarding this match... no matter how pathetic it sounds, this beatdown from my boy against one of my lesser liked characters is one of the best birthday gifts I could ever hope to receive. Thing of BEAUTY watching the Hyrule Hammer in good form, though for those who missed it, it's still incomparable to the old days when he'd put up EIGHTY ONE PERCENT against Yoshi.

If Link marches through this bracket in his sleep, which he is looking likely to do, I'd be in favor of retiring him completely from the next CB, save for the final bonus poll against the bracket champ (it doesn't even need to count for points, though it can). I also think we can have a much smaller tournament of champions by excluding only Mario, Samus, and Cloud - akin to 2005. Everyone else should be in the main bracket because they are clearly fair game, though I suppose the idea of Zelda being a top threat to win a contest might be unpalatable to many.

Any time I see/hear someone under the age of 40 complaining about Millennials, I assume what they really complaining about are people from Generation Z.

Registered voters also favored the Boss over Zelda as well, so maybe they just really like MGS?

So whats been the reactions to Pikachu and Zelda winning? Which caused more of a stir? At what points in the match did the rat and Zelda become clear favorites? I presume Zelda became favored quite early.

People are assuming MGS dropped right? I guess everything except Nintendo, Pokmon and waifus keeps dropping over the years.
