Separate of any perceived quality, Odyssey has been more substantial in occupying mind space with people than Galaxy did. It calls back to Mario 64 for peopleand it has that same reach as well. And then, obviously, people are pretty hyped up on Smash, though that seemingly hasnt their everyone the same.

Mario Odyssey has also already sold about as well as Galaxy 1 ever did.

Yes, I think that theory was tossed around when Squall got destroyed by Zelda. A lot of that result was Zelda boosting, but Squall clearly dropped as well because he did worse against Zelda than Aerith did. Traditionally, Squall would have beaten Aerith in a direct match in every single year except for 2002, 2003, and 2018.

KH's epic collapse on this site over the past years may be why characters like Squall have felt the pain more than most of the other FF characters since he boosted from Kingdom Hearts. Cloud and Sephiroth seem to be weaker as well.

Meh. Snake losing and Mario 60-40ing Seph has officialy wrecked my second chance bracket already despite getting Pikachu > Mega Man. Had both Cloud and Snake > Mario. Whoops.

With low votals and geralt being polar in the mainstream it would be difficult to break 60 on the guy unless youre a top 5 elite.

Man Mario is crushing this. He's doing what Sephiroth did to him before.

The Bowser result didn't look good for Crono > Mario based on the traditional 58/42 ratio of Mario to Bowser and this confirms it. Supposing Seph ends at 41 and Cloud is worth 56% on Seph, and Mario/Crono goes 53/47 as the Bowser match suggests, and... Cloud/Crono is shaping up to be a 50/50 match.

And if this Zelda wins isn't just Snake having a mega drop , the next match against Sonic should be the first NN loss that isn't close !

Auron and Squall have always been pretty close. If anything, Squall has historically been the stronger one.

If you just compare what Zelda got on Squall, to what Sonic got on Auron...
Let's just say next round won't be pretty for Sonic.

That is correct, Link/Cloud is going to start on the evening on December 6th. And then hopefully, we get Snake/Samus 2 days later on the evening of December 8th, assuming Snake can make that far in the Loser bracket.

It'll be interesting to see if Snake's strength goes up after the release of Smash.

Wow samus is doing a lot better in Europe than I thought she would. I expected tifa to bleed her until 56% before rising again but she hasnt dipped below 58 and looking at the stats tifa has only had a few brief moments of stalls and cuts. Seph the same to a lesser degree but mario is far stronger in Europe now.

But the cloud match should be interesting. Cloud still loses to Mario but Id love to see a Cloud/Samus now. Could be neck and neck.

MGS in general has done very well with registered users, so it's not just Solid Snake doing this.

MGS feels like the kind of thing gaming world would stop caring about but gameFAQs wouldn't.

Any character would lose relevance after a continued lack of exposure (or worse yet, bad press).

Except Samus.

Anyway, Sephiroth did well enough overnight to return this to the... bare minimum of respectability, I suppose. I would have even called this an okay performance if the Eight Legends really were supercharged and easily won against Pikachu and Zelda. That clearly isn't the case, though; none of them are riding artificial, one week boosts - this is just Mario's natural strength.

People are assuming MGS dropped right? I guess everything except Nintendo, Pokmon and waifus keeps dropping over the years.

People on GameFAQs respect legacy and tradition, I think. Solid Snake is better than Zelda, both as a character and as an influence in gaming (not to be confused with Link) so I think that plays a part. However LOZ is just as influential so Zelda gets some of that respect too.

MGS is just kinda falling out of relevance. MGS4 was supposed to be the last game, and after 5 came out, and the way it was received... I think a lot of people were ready for MGS to be done. I love the series and I'm a diehard fan, but it is time to let Snake rest.

We should do register users only tournament.

To get a real gauge of who the stronger on this site is.

Snake hasnt been relevant since 2014. Add to the fact Kojoma leaving and Konami being asshats and BOTW influence yeah. Zelda still only won by a hairline.

If Kojima was still there and we got MGS6 with solid snake and not big boss then the match wouldnt be close.

Still on the Leaderboard!

Came back from work, checked the results. This is what I have to say.

1st match=I can't understand why Samus is so strong. I just can't. Hope Tifa finishes above 40% at least.
2nd match=I was expecting this. I thought Mario would win with around 60% and yeah. If Sephiroth finishes above 40% I will consider this a decent result.

So yeah. I am a huge FF fan. In fact my username before the site forced me to change it was Safer Sephiroth 777! Man why the FF 7 remake isn't coming out? Come on! Also the finals will be Link VS Mario it seems. So fun!
