I don't understand everyone talking about how "amazing" the throne room sequence was, when it was already telegraphed thirty-four years earlier in RotJ. There was a good ten minutes dedicated to Palpatine in his throne room monologuing about how Luke killing him directly would be the final step towards the dark side.

So of course they have a scene in not-Palpatine's throne room where not-Palpatine monologues about "completing his training" and "I see him turning the lightsaber to strike true" in generic enough terms that it was clearly just the same speech. All he needed was a croaking "strike me down with all of your hatred" and it would have basically been that exact scene in RotJ. Hell, I was saying that line over and over myself in the middle of his whole big speech (there was plenty of time to repeat it given how excruciatingly slow that scene is).

Though I guess after TFA was practically a shot-for-shot remake of A New Hope, nobody really thought they'd be stupid enough to keep lifting scenes wholesale from the earlier movies, which could explain why you thought it was so great.

I read the only ways to unlock them are in WoL or to make a Mii, but I don't have the Brawler yet, and when I went to make a Brawler, it still didn't unlock so I dunno maybe it's just WoL.

The Miis are only available in standard Smash mode as long as you have one that is created. They don't have a Classic Mode, and in Adventure Mode they have to be unlocked like any other fighter.

Unlocking them in Adventure also adds the "default" of each Mii type to your created Mii Fighters, so they'll also appear in Smash mode if you haven't created any on your own yet.

Considering how early she shows up in the game with her stats level, and has that completely absurd defense bonus combining with the time limit, probably not a whole lot.

If you play around in Spirit Board enough to get some good spirits, she's really easy, especially if you use someone who likes flat stages like Little Mac. Really the only issue is overcoming her power level, which can be done with a good number of Legend spirits. I used Cutie J my first time through (have to unlock the Ace-level Jeanne first, who appeared on the spirit board, then level her to 99 to get Cutie J).

Cloud is the least. He only shows up in his trophy battle. Almost certainly Square wouldn't let him be used otherwise.

Cloud is definitely used in at least some spirit battles (Zeke from XC2 uses him), but I don't remember if any of those were in Adventure Mode or if they're Spirit Board exclusives.

My first run through I was trying to tranq everyone, and I still had a few extras - one was someone who I tried to interrogate and accidentally pressed the button too hard (who puts "hold knife to throat" and "slit throat" on the same pressure-sensitive button?) and one was a guy who was standing near the edge of a cliff in Krasnogorje when I tranq'd him so he fell off the cliff and died. His ghost had like a vulture attacking him or something.

Was that really my fault? I didn't kill him, the fall did.

Major only says that ADAM infiltrated Volgin's ranks and that he'll rendezvous with Snake. There's no suggestion that EVA is involved in any of this at all.

That was how I understood it too. When EVA first shows up Snake even says something about EVA not being part of the plan because he was only supposed to rendezvous with ADAM.

Also, is this the first legit case of rSFF where the weaker member won? We've seen Zero siphon votes from Mega Man, but I don't recall any of them actually prevailing.

Happy Death Day was a pretty awful horror movie, and a worse mystery movie. But it was at least watchable on the strength of the actors (especially Jessica Rothe).

Really glad that they're going the Evil Dead route and turning up the comedy/absurdity for this one.

I mean, obviously PUBG is going to be free, seeing as Blackout is free (after buying Black Ops 4, but let's face it, everybody who likes these kinds of games did) and Blackout is apparently better than PUBG in every conceivable way.

Disclaimer: I have not played any of PUBG, Black Ops 4, or Blackout. I'm not even a fan of FPSes in general. This flippant post is strictly going by what I've gleaned from various reviews/other gaming sites and does not necessarily reflect the views of the poster if I ever end up playing these.

Better than town using a useful ability on me night 1 and blowing my power for the game. And with everyone going "OMG SO PRO-TOWN" after my analysis post I was pretty much doc-bait anyway. I'd rather have scum blow an extra ability use, regardless of how relatively useless it may be, than have town be the ones to blow my power and an ability use.

The only problem would be if we have, like, a doctor or something who targets me and scum targets someone else. Then I'd use it up blocking the doctor and be defenseless the next night.

I'd rather keep the other town-aligned night powers in play, even if it means revealing my ability.

And speak of the devil, I got my clarification. Okay, claiming now.

I am essentially a one-time reflexive night phase omniblocker. Essentially, if I get targeted by anything at night, I automatically block everything targeted at me at night. This includes the mafia kill.

It only works the first time I get targeted at night, and I have no control over it. So nobody target me at night. No doctor, no cop, no whatever else we have. I will automatically block everything the first night something is used in me at night.

I have confirmed that this only works at night, so if we have someone who can confirm me during the day (as with DTG's claimed power) I won't block it and will keep my power active.

This also means that I have to be targeted on two separate nights to actually die, minus a lynch or something like a Dayvig.

Since I have no actual control over my power, it doesn't help me to keep it secret, and I'd rather avoid screwing with the town powers when I can use it to draw scum to have to hit me twice instead.

@DoomTheGyarados read this, and decide if having a confirmed town who can't die Night 1 is something you'd like to have. If it is, scan me.

Anyway, hi everyone, I'm new to B8 Mafia (though not Mafia in general) so I can't comment on any of the meta you guys were talking about earlier. But I can at least tell you my thoughts on everyone so far from a non-meta lens:

JOHNBOBB:
Weird early rolefishing on Puns, not really sure if that was just trying to generate conversation or actual rolefishing.

TURBOPUNS2:
Whoo. A lot to unpack here. I'm leaning slightly scum right now, and even with the claim in #207-8 it basically just sounds like a Mafia Traitor. But I'm still suspicious about the vote on FD - it was early, and in #20 Puns hinted that his power might be vote-related. So I wouldn't be surprised if he was a Vengeful something-or-other whose on-death power is targeted at whoever he has a vote on. Also not sure why he was afraid of getting confirmed by DTG's ability in #41.

OBELLISK:
Leaning town. I'm a fan of #165 pointing out that daring DTG is dumb - since a one-for-one trade (DTG for the scum he targets) would usually be bad for scum.

FORCEFUL_DRAGON:
Also leaning town. #96 about Harris questions was great.

CORRIK:
I don't like how Corrik insisted that he knew Harris was lying, and then came up with some lame "well it doesn't fit the flavor you roleplayed" in #173. Don't know what it means - if Corrik has some information as a result of his role or if he's just jumping on Harris - but it's weird.

PIRATE_HARRIS:
Also acting weird. His explanation for the question of "how many scum" is weird as hell, as he implies just about every answer would lean town but he was using the question to identify scum. Then in #184 he asks if there could possibly be a gambler role. While voting for the guy who claimed reverse day gambler. Also, if you're going to whine about how much you suck at mafia and everyone should just lynch you, why the hell did you sign up in the first place? I'm guessing he's either Jester, actually Vanilla and pissed off that he has no powers, or he's way better at WIFOM than anyone in this game has given him credit for.

DOOMTHEGYARADOS:
I'm waiting on clarification on something about my role, but I have an interesting proposition for him if my hunch is right. Not sure if he's town or smart-scum right now, but his power could clear things up. I'm a fan of aggressive play, though, so I like his style at the moment.

I've started replaying Order of Ecclesia. Never used familiar summons before, so I looked up info about them and saw about overnight leveling etc.

Did it last night for Fidelis Aranea, now Shanoa's level 23 before Somnus Reef. I think the first time I beat the game I was only level 36, and the final boss fight took literal hours because my damage output was so low.

I'm honestly looking forward to doing this some more.

Also, anyone want to share their thoughts on the Netflix Season 2? I'm particularly interested in how people feel about the lack of Grant and Death (the latter being my favorite character in the series), and Isaac's redesign.

I actually have a theory (which may or may not just be wishful thinking) that Isaac is going to become Death in the next season or two.

You're missing some important formative years in between them there. He found religion (My Sweet Lord), turned into a hippy (Here Comes The Sun), and forgot some of the basic rules of English (I Me Mine) for his lyric-writing.

Then when his career was over and he needed a pop hit to make money, he basically ended up playing six chords and writing extremely simple lyrics because it was 1987 and nostalgia-chasers would listen to anything put out by a Beatle at that point.

Basically the same logic that drives people today to seek out absolutely anything from the 90's.

A lot of FF1 fans seem to be influenced by 8-Bit Theater.

I've noticed that fans of 8-Bit Theater are "fans" of FFI in spite of FFI. Like, some of them think the non-FFI jokes are actually something relevant to FFI.

I once got into an argument with someone who thought Ice-9 was an actual spell in Final Fantasy, and I had to patiently explain to those philistines that it was just Clevinger making a Cat's Cradle reference.

I love Brian Clevinger's humor (in fact, Nuklear Age is one of my favorite books) but he really did a lot of damage to people's understanding of the original Final Fantasy.
