I think this is the beginning of the reboot of the series. So it's not linked to the previous ones.

I thought this new movie was a prequel to the first Bayformers movie?

Sort of.

Part of the movie explains how Bumblebee lost his voice, which had already been explained in a then-canonical prequel comic in a completely different way.

This is going to get confusing, because as far as Transformers is concerned, everything is canon.

I've found it's best to just leave it alone on my windowsill without touching it or moving it around, and it usually picks up the signal within the first couple tries.

(Although, Trump's requested NIST budget includes shutting down the Fort Collins time broadcasts in FY2019, but whether Congress actually pays attention to that or not is still up in the air.)

Nope you missed the point. Nobody takes them seriously because they never went after ROM sites when they were so rampant in the past. They even went after sites nobody has heard of instead of bigger ones.

Nintendo has literally been doing this shit since sites hosting ROMs existed. Emuparadise, which has since taken down all download links to ROMs and ISOs, has been dealing with things like this since 2000. Various other sites would frequently take ROMs of Nintendo games down due to fear of litigation. Nintendo had either paid employees or scraping bots on P2P networks looking for people sharing Nintendo ROMs so they could threaten legal action.

LoveROMs was just Nintendo setting an example. They were an easy target for litigation so that Nintendo could send a message to all other sites hosting ROMs.

It isn't when it's that old.

On release, Earthbound cost $69.99. Adjusting for inflation, that would be around $116.15 in 2018 dollars.

You don't think it's even worth around 8.6% of its original price, 23 years after its original release date?

To put that in perspective, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" was first available in a home video release in 1994 for $26.99. That would be about $46 in 2018 dollars. You can buy it digitally on Amazon Prime Video for $14.99. That's around 33% of its original price, 24 years after its original release date.

Given that there is a not insignificant demand for the ROM data, that must mean that the ROM data has a not insignificant value.

In fact, one could argue that the (technically illegal) availability of free ROM data for classic games created much of the market Nintendo hopes to capitalize on with the Switch Online service and the one they have already capitalized on with the NES Classic, SNES Classic, and Virtual Console.

I'm with Rev on this one. The effort it takes to upload the entire first party SNES library is next to none. SNES games should be $5. They're making virtually 100% profit off of it in the long run. Yeah, you pay the workers a good what, month's worth of salary across a dozen people or so and then for the next six to eight years, you just rake in the money from having the games on there for a cheap price.

Yeah, because all it takes is just uploading games onto a server. They don't have to do QA to make sure the games are emulated properly or anything. They certainly don't have to modify the emulation code to fix emulation errors. There definitely isn't anything they have to do from a marketing perspective to display the games in the VC eShop. It's totally just as simple as sticking a ROM on a server and putting a price on it.

" 99% of the people getting offended by the video games dont even play them " this is a pretty good criticism

No, it isn't.

First of all, it's not proven. No survey or other data collection has been done to determine within a particular margin of error what percentage of people criticizing a game have not played said game. Even if we (correctly) assume that the "99%" figure is figurative rather than literal, the fact remains that this number is merely a gut feeling rather than a figure based on the analysis of data. And you can't use a gut feeling to support an argument.

Secondly, whether or not someone has played a game has little effect on whether or not they can adequately criticize an aspect of it that they have seen or heard of. The only effect is whether there is some unknown context within the game itself that makes the criticism weak or false.

If, for instance, someone criticizes a game for allowing violence towards women, but the game contextualizes that violence by sufficiently penalizing the player for performing it, then the criticism is not apt. It's a weak criticism.

Thirdly, none of this applies to the criticisms being talked about in that video. The criticisms weren't aimed at the game; they were aimed at the actions of a particular person (or type of person) playing the game. Because of this, it absolutely doesn't matter whether or not they've played the game.

Good thing state capitalism is a poorly constructed propagandist term designed to shield the many failures of communism while inappropriately placing the blame at capitalism's feet.

But even if we call it "state socialism", which some may consider a more accurate description (but certainly not Wilhelm Liebknecht), it's still not communism.

By "immigration-based crimes", do you mean "crimes committed by immigrants" and, if so, are you seriously asking for statistics on how many crimes are committed by immigrants in countries that prohibit immigration?

And if you are asking about statistics on crimes committed by immigrants, then it stands to reason that countries with harsher restrictions on immigration and lower immigration maximums would have fewer crimes committed by immigrants by virtue of having fewer immigrants. However, to truly compare these different countries, one would have to normalize the data, perhaps by calculating a crimes committed by immigrants rate per capita where the specific capita used for the calculation only includes immigrants.

As far as I know, no one has yet collected the data necessary to make said calculation and comparison thereby.

Old English "orc" meant "demon/hell", from Latin "orcus", meaning "underworld".

The other Modern English "orc" comes from Italian "orco", meaning "man-eating giant" or "ogre".

All of these technically predate Tolkien's usage, so the name is totally safe for everyone to use.

The problem with the internet today is that it's filled with entire generations that did not grow up with the great wisdom of the Wyld Stallyns.

I was recommended his No Jump Super Mario 3D World video a while ago and pretty much instantly subscribed.

That must be why all the sports movies ever created show 4 hour baseball and football matches.

You mean how they show all the important bits like an exciting triple play or a game winning touchdown, and ignore most of the boring bits like two dudes futzing around with a flag for three minutes?

Thanks for supporting my argument of leaving out the parts that would be boring or uninteresting in service of making a better film.

Because clearly Hollywood has to make historical movies exactly how long it took to do something.

Yeah, maybe they should have just had Neil leap from the entryway of the lunar lander, flagpole in hand, and dunk that shit into the lunar surface while screaming an elongated "AMERICA" over comms.

Look. in a biopic, they can either show it accurately or not at all. Since there is no good way to make that moment fit, given the tone of the movie, while still being good film-making, it's better to just leave it out and show the flagpole having already been planted at a later point.

Yah because that would totally be a struggle.... Wasn't there a movie about a guy trapped under a rock flailing around for a few days? That worked fine. If you film it competently, you could transform the scene into that of a challenge and add suspense to it, you know focusing on Neil's struggle to get the flag planted...? But it's just easier to chalk it up to a human achievement, right?

That's not a dramatic conflict. Man vs. Nature (and, eventually, Man vs. Himself) is a dramatic conflict so known for its drama that it's been used countless times in film and literature.

Flagpole vs. Somewhat Hard Ground isn't dramatic at all. Even if you tried to make it dramatic, it would just be two dudes fiddling with a flagpole for three minutes while dramatic music swells in the background, making the sequence comical rather than dramatic.
