Yeah, Aladdin's won the last few tournaments but it didn't do very well in nominations. The same thing (championships aside) happened with Toy Story getting a 7 seed and TS3 getting an 11 seed. I have no idea why so many strong movies are so underseeded this year.

I don't get where this idea comes from. Of Shinkai's four features before Your Name, none of them are the kind of story that ends with a couple getting together except for the one where that happens. I don't like to say that people watch stuff "wrong", but I really don't get how so many people watch 5 Centimeters and/or Garden of Words and think "That was clearly an amazingly romantic story, so why does Shinkai have to block the obvious happy ending for no reason?"

School-Live manga definitely has a more consistent tone. It doesn't really focus much on the slice-of-life comedy stuff at all, especially compared to the anime.

Is there more than one Planetes manga or something? The one I read was very different from the anime, but most people seem to agree that the anime is a very faithful adaptation. I've even seen comparisons between the two talk about how the manga handled plotlines that I'm sure were anime-only. Am I just crazy?
