Elliot Rodger came from a wealthy family, was still an incel.

Although what's really weird about him is that he's rich and I thought he was pretty good looking too. He just had a very violent and angry and awkward personality.

He's a special case in that he was incredibly self-absorbed and narcissistic. Couple that with coming from an aristocratic family and you have an incredibly obnoxious person to be around. Ironically, if he didn't kill himself, he would have had tons of girls chasing after him the moment he would come out of prison.

more like ostracized to death or whatever

You realize that is, as stated in the video, perhaps a contributing cause to their existence in the first place, no? The guys that haven't progressed towards violence are mentioning repeatedly that they feel isolated and rejected by people and your response is essentially, "Fuck yeah, reject the hell out of those people!" Severing someone's connection with society removes a barrier to committing violence, as there isn't anyone to 'disappoint'.

As for why things occur now, you should probably start by analyzing the fragmentation of society with the rise of social media. By filtering people out of each other's lives it becomes easier to lose a sense of commonality with the community. A casually crass dismissal of others may just spur on discontent.

Hit the nail on the head. Insulting people and calling them incels literally contributes to the problem. Most social problems can be solved by empathy yet our collective sense of empathy has dwindled as we've become more connected than ever through social media.

When it's a lifestyle, it's very difficult to wean yourself off to a healthier lifestyle as it's not a matter of choosing to do X today, and falling back to Y. You have to do X consistently. And the man hit the gym 3 times a week for over a year, that requires discipline and commitment, what your unpopular opinion ignores.

That's fantastic!

What did you do to lose it, if you don't mind sharing?

On April 1 of 2018 I went back to cooking all of my food instead of eating out and eating fast food... I lost about 25 pounds from then to July 25 of 2018. On July 25th of 2018, I joined a crossfit gym. They had me use an app called Better Human to track what I eat by weight and stay under a certain amount of protein/carbs/fat/calories. I started working out there 3 times per week. Since then, I've lost 165 pounds.

And here I am struggling to work out more than twice a week and lose 10 pounds. I'll just chalk this off to you being a super human, an absolute shonen character in terms of discipline.

It's more the fact that comedy that punches down has largely always been s***. Or should we start supporting jokes that call for black people to be slaves and start using black face again?

Here's a good litmus test, for the offensive joke you want to make, test it out against people who would be most offended by it. If they're laughing, you know you're okay. The basic question, "is this joke funny?" will still apply and if the comedian's not funny, no one will support them to begin with.

Saving is for chumps. Anyone can save money. It takes more effort to invest, and thus less people learn to do it and those who do are often rewarded for it.

Luckily Cryptocurrency, or rather blockchain technology is a budding field that, in some ways, closes the divide between the wealthy and the average joe. It is definitely the greatest technological boom of our time and those who embrace it will be well ahead of those who hesitate and procrastinate to join in, both enterprise wise and individual wise.

I highly, highly recommend you all learn about the field, maybe throw in $30 to see where it takes you. But do learn about smart contracts that were first brought to life by Ethereum and oracles, and why Smartcontracts needs oracles. Because that will be the biggest job killers in the coming future. It hasn't taken over the world because it needs oracles, essentially the blockchain's version of the HTTPS protocol. Luckily, I hear there's a company called Chainlink that is on its way of providing the industry standards for oracles...

I fully believe pedophile rings among influential people exist. Pizzagate was not anything like they would be, it was founded too to bottom on nonsense and based entirely on how much you were willing to put stock into what random 4chan/8chsn posters tell you secret pedo codes are

Dude, there was an photo of a little girl taped to a table with a scowl on her face and another photo of the owner posing with 2 buff 2 dudes with a "I love children" in French on their official channel. And there was a leaked email of Obama spending $65K on pizza and hotdogs. To say it's founded upon nonsense is unconvincing. In what world is it acceptable to tape a little girl to a table at an establishment not specifically geared for children and post photos about it? At the very least, you have to admit that is suspicious.

And do note that 4chan is the best and worst place for information and ideas. People have been minted as millionaires off of the the information tipped from there. And there will be even more millionaires minted, potentially billionaires, thanks again to the information tipped from there later this year.

A bunch of people are saying this, but are kind of ignoring that the reality was that the media wanted to make the race about Trump, whether he's fit to be president, etc. It's not as if Clinton didn't have a site full of her policy ideas or things like that. It's that the media environment tried to frame it as "Trump's the crazy one, talk about how you're not like Trump" and then she and her advisers decided "Hey, we should go along with that".

In the first Democratic debate I saw for that season, Sanders acknowledged a bunch of social problems from mass incarceration, to student debt, to health care. I had no idea who Sanders was before that, I didn't have an understanding of how he was going to achieve this but I clearly saw he had a vision for what he wanted to accomplish in office.

Heck, this season now, Andrew Yang has my attention because he acknowledged the impending 4th Industrial Revolution which is going to wipe away a lot of office jobs thanks to Smart contracts (I would not be surprised if he bought Chainlink). Clinton had a year's worth of debates as well as the DNC's full backing to frame her vision or what she wanted to accomplish in office to leave her mark. I never got an answer to that other than "vote for me so I can be the first female president and inspire little girls". That's not good enough for me.

The reason why ETH hasn't taken off again is because of its lack of oracle, i.e. no secure way of transferring data to the Ethereum blockchain. Until it solves the oracle problem, smart contracts have no real use cases for real world problems. Luckily, Chainlink is focusing on this problem.

The DNC favored her from the start, to the point where super delegates all voted for her at the beginning of the primary season which limited the amount of delegates the other candidates could win. She didn't seem to have a vision for what she wanted for the presidency for other than "vote for me so I can be the first woman president".

There's the Benghazi incident, but really, pretty much any administration that wants to maintain the US' influence on the world had no choice but to invade Libya. Libya didn't want to do oil business in US dollars and attempted to unite its continent under a single currency.

What if the story is exactly the same but they get whichever actress they want? Like if the best actress and singer they liked was Asian for Little Mermaid then whats the issue? Why is that creatively bankrupt?

The issue is that they used an iconic and legendary character with a legacy to give this person a spotlight. I do not want the success of a colored character founded this way. I don't want to give off the impression that the only way our culture can produce stories or characters that leave our mark in history is ripping off other legendary franchises. This is why it's irrelevant to me how good the actor is, the character he's playing is still not ours. I want our own creators to come up with innovative and new things to make their mark in history.

And mind you, I'm making a distinction between legendary characters and other characters getting colorwashed. An insignificant sum of people are going to complain about Samuel Jackson playing as Nick Fury when he was original white in the comics. No one knew who Nick Fury was except for comic buffs. Contrast this to Annie, a cultural icon known for her ginger hair, being typecasted as Black for that movie. Of course people are going to complain.

Farthest from the truth. It's much simpler than this. People are annoyed at the blackwashing in the name of diversity using iconic characters. Look at your comparison, Tessa Thompson. Who's she? And you're comparing her to Annie, one of the biggest icons in America media history.

There's nothing stopping someone from coming up with original characters who are colored. But taking an already established and popular character with a legacy and colorwashing them comes off as creatively bankrupt.

Theres black people who say no one should say it

Theres black people who say light skinned black people can't say it

Theres black people who say anyone can say it

Where does it end

White people can't say the n word.

Deal with it.

This is a classic example of racism. Realize that this black people privilege, right or whatever you want to call it fosters exclusivity among the black populace and makes it more difficult for other groups to relate. And if they can't relate, there's no point in them trying to connect with you over some other group is easier to relate to and so opportunities will be passed over you.

Keep in mind that our actions have far more consequences than the reactions immediately received.

Prochoice would mean you favor antivaxxers the choice over their own body.
Most wouldn't and want them to be vaccinated because the choices they make on their own body affect others.
Then it goes back to dehumanizing the child once more so the woman's choice doesn't affect a living person.

I've never thought of it that way. But I do recall thinking to myself when I had a friend say she's pro abortion due to it being her body her choice, all I could think to myself is that if I caught her ingesting bath salts (0.000000% chance of ever occurring, but just making a point), I'd hunt her down like a dog.

You should take your landlady out to dinner so she can chat with the girlfriend.

Does it matter, though? I mean, objectively? As man I will never be pregnant, nor will I, as a gay man, ever get someone pregnant. Personally I'm rather open-minded on the subject; I believe women can take care of their bodies as they see fit, and that the beauty of choice is that you can choose not to get an abortion, if you like, but truth be told it is pretty difficult to hold an impassioned opinion on the matter when it has no relevance ot my life whatsoever, and I'm just being honest about that.

I say the big issue is that there's a disconnect in saying a woman has full rights over her body, but then, when you have the kid and the father's not on board, you're bound for a lifetime of headache fighting with him to be in the kid's life. It's a complex problem with no easy fix, but I feel this push for the "It's a woman's body, so it's her right alone" mentality is detrimental overall.

If the prediction of the number of jobs to be taken by automation turns out to be true, then it's not going to be a a question of whether people want to work, but rather, if they can

Some of you guys may not buy it since you've not seen it first hand, but while I was doing factory work for a time, I saw jobs just disappear before my very eyes to automated systems

For example, the entire section of the Kraft factory that pumped out the block and shredded cheeses had maaaaybe 30-40 people per shift? Most of the shit, from loading, to boxing, even the QC is automated

Lines of paint booths that took 15-20 people to spray cabinet doors now takes 3-6 to operate the automated sprayer

This is happening all over the country and its only gonna get worse

The real killer in automation is not robotics for manufacturing but in administrative work through Smart contracts. Don't get me wrong, robotics for manufacturing is taking jobs, but it's nothing compared to what smart contracts can do. There are a lot of jobs that involve a lot of paperwork, signing of documents for verification for approvals, for payments, acceptance of deliveries, so much busybody work. Smartcontracts are going to DESTROY those jobs. Imagine hiring someone to verify shipments got through to X location and handle the paperwork for payments accordingly when you can have IoT sensors tracked by GPS and connected to smart contracts on the blockchain that automatically trigger payments when the truck docks and unloads his shipment. In my job, because it deals with federal money, my coworkers deal with a metric ton of overhead where getting a payment approval goes through 3 or 4 hands before it goes through. Prime bait for smartcontracts.

I invite you all to read up on Smart contracts and Chainlink, the Fourth Industrial Revolution is right around the corner and it's going to catch A LOT of people unprepared.
