BlueCrystalTear 07/26/19 11:00:34 PM #2	Karen: LAW fodder. This is a one-game Harvest Moon waifu. Because she's a waifu, she beats Spring Breeze Dancin', but I don't see her getting 20% on anyone else who's ever been in a contest, except some current low fodder (and even then she'd lose). It's not a series that has any proven strength and that's because nobody from it has ever had enough nominations to get in. So yeah. Morgana: High fodder. Persona is a more-recognized franchise now than it was before P5. However, no character from any Persona game has done particularly well, not even Joker, and the obnoxious kitty isn't going to even pull Joker's numbers. However, I still think he's recognized enough to clobber any Low Fodder, so he's barely High Fodder. Scooby: Midcarder. He's one of the most recognizable cartoon characters of all time and someone that generations upon generations have grown up watching in one form or another. Try something sweeter if it's too bitter or something bitterer if it's too sweet. I don't know why Doritos and Coca-Cola are on this poll over ice cream, however. I never have either of those. Johnbobb posted... Watermelon has a nice flavor but I really don't like the texture of it I feel ya, dude. I like watermelon, but people get confused when I tell them I can't stomach the fluffy texture of mashed potatoes or scrambled eggs. It simply makes me gag. BlueCrystalTear 07/26/19 9:14:16 PM #24	HOH this week: ~~....Holly...~~ Nominees are... ~~Sam & Nick, the easy targets.~~ Survivor Episode 1: King Luke is still as awesome as ever. So happy Pia stayed, but sad to see Anastasia go all the same (Susie wouldn't have been missed). I'm sad I won't be the first Andy on the show, but this guy... wow. Cocky bastard, but fun as hell to watch. Easily shaping up to be one of the most memorable villains ever. I really don't like how many athletes there are on the Champions, and them redoing this theme is just... no. I can't relate to the Champs. I couldn't last year. And since they're so used to being in the public eye, we don't get to see their vulnerabilities or complexities since they tend to hide them, especially when on camera. It's like the Goliaths, but to an even further extreme. Also... why were so many of the Contenders girls not shown in episode one? Casey seems awesome. Laura is a firecracker. She should've just sat out of the reward challenge willingly due to her extremely low center of gravity. Samantha seems to be just there for the eye candy (apparently, she's an Amazing Race transplant). And Sarah... is just there. Hannah... is not there at all. Only Daisy got significant screentime in the premiere. Episode 2: At least we're getting more from some of them now. On the Champions side, it's amazing how all of these amateurs didn't even think about an idol clue and just let King Luke go walk over and get it. That wasn't even the case on Redemption Island! Also, that immunity challenge was NUTS! Could've done without the slide, though, and the puzzle was too easy (think the "huge disc" from DvG as a comparison). Also, why do these idiots get so eager to change the vote? You don't know who to trust yet. Just shut up and write down the name that isn't you - overplaying early leads to being distrusted later. It'll blow back on Nova and Harry - and it was smart of Andy to let Harry do the dirty work. The edit at Tribal was also funky, and they haven't learned to hide the confessional splicing at all. While JLP, the camera work, the challenge department, and the overall production of the show keep improving... the editing has not. Laura going was pretty obvious, but she really did it to herself by standing out too much. Strategically, I mean. All that said, this season is already shaping up to be better than last. There are more memorable people overall and everything seems fun again! Definitely feels more like AUS2017 than last season did (King Luke is only a part of that). Survivor SA ~~What the hell? How did that... what was with that out-of-nowhere downfall edit? I do think a lot of characters in the high fodder and fodder line categories are overestimated. You're forgetting though that non-Red Pokemon humans have historically failed to deliver. My placements were based on what we did as a group, as it is those that define the tiers. I know that - but in this case, she beats more people than you're giving her credit for. She's probably the strongest Pokemon trainer outside of Gen 1. But still, I think all of that is enough for her to beat most of the people we've ruled as fodder so far. She's got no chance against a Noble Niner, but could even beat Nathan Drake. BlueCrystalTear 07/24/19 9:11:03 PM #1	Well? - Results (33 votes) A silent protagonist 9.09% (3 votes) 3 A very developed, compelling protagonist 90.91% (30 votes) 30 The first option is a silent (or mostly silent) protagonist where you can choose occasional dialogue options, which essentially lets you put yourself in the protagonist's shoes. However, there's little story about them - mainly just why they're in those circumstances and that's it. Think Persona or Suikoden for this. The second option is where you play through a protagonist's story, one that centers around them but not at expense of the characters that surround them; essentially, it's told through their eyes and you get to hear their thoughts at times. While this doesn't let the player put themselves in the protagonist's shoes and usually removes the dialogue options, it makes it easier to care more about the character, especially when it's done right. Think of most Final Fantasy and Tales games for this. They added these powers in hopes that they'd create a more balanced game, but like tends to happen every single time, they either changed nothing (Jack also used his power, which didn't change much) or helped out the more dominant side. These powers need to stop - the one time there could have been a major strategic shift in the game, it backfired. When will Grodner learn? Kat is definitely the JC of this season. Thinks she has a lot more power than she actually does and is really just a convenient floater who always seems to go with the stronger side. RE characters not named Jill or Leon are usually unable to get out of the first round, except with an occasional good draw in fourpacks. Rebecca is weaker than Chris, so Mid Fodder sounds right. L.A. Noire is a game you've either played or you haven't. Anyone who has played it might vote for him, but anyone who hasn't wouldn't - regardless of who he's up against, really, provided they've heard of that character. Cole Phelps is not a name you see often. Low Fodder. Frogger is a character people know but don't care about, seeing as he hasn't had a game - at least one that anyone knows about - in a long time. His name is meaningful to people, but his design and games really aren't. I lean more toward Mid Fodder for that reason. He'd beat more characters than Cole because of name recognition. John was such a douche and made me feel so bad for Jess that the humiliation didn't compensate. I loved seeing John get his, with the show blaming the elimination solely on him. I felt really bad for Jessica, too - her I actually liked. Same goes for Sara in TAR29, though a large part of that is how nice to look at she is. Shamir's implosion was a little discomforting, yeah... I don't remember Meghan being particularly unpleasant. Her and Joey weren't as energetic as the race went on. Are you talking about TAR24? I haven't seen that abomination, so perhaps I don't have a tainted lens from that. From what I saw on this season and this season alone, they were fine. On YouTube might be a different story... I viewed this season more as a casual, personally, seeing as I wasn't active on social media for it... so I don't quite know why they're hated by some. Jessica & John are so high for me because of how that humiliation was such great TV. Please note that mine wasn't solely based on likability, but both likability and entertainment. Chuck & Wynona were fun in leg 1, yeah. BlueCrystalTear 07/19/19 9:09:53 PM #424	Yessir. Was going to type something about it, then saw it was in the middle of a Big Brother episode and forgot afterward. Good finale. Loved how many things they did in D.C. - and the final task was certainly better than TAR5's. GREAT location for a finish line, too. Final team rankings... 1. Max & Katie - Likable villains, really. He's a troll, she's kind of mean but owns it. They were wildly entertaining and seem like people I'd gel with. Again, lots of points for the Legends of the Hidden Temple reference, too. Why haven't they been back? 2. Caroline & Jennifer - A LOT of fun, with their singing to seduce taxi drivers and blonde moments (missing the obvious on the human chessboard, not taking a number in New Zealand). They both seem like sweet girls, too. And we got the backstory of their birthrights, but that wasn't examined much because, well, they're too young to have any cool stories. I see why they were brought back. 3. Jessica & John - For a douchebag, John had one of the most satisfying self-comeuppances I have ever seen. He humiliated himself astronomically and it was entertaining for every second. Jessica seems like a much nicer person than he does, what with high-fiving local kids and suggesting the right thing on many an occasion only to be shut down by John's ego. I can see why they were given a second chance - these two were quite a story in the making. And he was fun to see get his. Shame she married him, though. 4. Joey & Meghan - These two were surprisingly delightful, with the geekiness and the enthusiasm, though that died off as the Race wore on. I think the "surprise" is because of Inviso comments from before, perhaps. These two were rootable for me because they'd fit in here at Board 8. They just could have been developed further. 5. Dave & Connor - Was a shame to see Dave's injury happen, which turned these two into an underdog story of perseverance until the MedEvac. This was compelling television, even if the recaps beat it to death. It was nice to get an update at the end about how the surgery went well, but it does seem that CBS loves these two more than I do. 6. Bates & Anthony - These two were a surprisingly rootable pair of alpha males of a team archetype that I normally despise. They seem like legit nice guys who are hyper-competitive, and they had several more close calls than I anticipated. Goes to show you the Race isn't all brawn, even if they won. I'm happy for them. 7. Pam & Winnie - A fun, rootable team here, too. The one thing that puts them this low is that I don't remember much in the way of personal content about them... and, well, there are a LOT of teams this season that were that good. 8. Mona & Beth - The Roller Derby Moms. That team name is about all I can say about them, and they made the final three. They didn't have the feisty side to them that the Bowling Moms (particularly Linda) did. Nice ladies, though. That they're this low shows how stacked this cast is. 9. Idreis & Jamil - Meh. The only memorable thing about them is that they were "deliverymen." 10. Chuck & Wynona - Had a few fun little moments, but she was annoying and he was ignoring her too much because he was competitive. Does anyone know if they got divorced? Certainly feels like they were going to. They got rather trying later. 11. Matt & Daniel - First boot that had very little personality and quite a bit of conceit. Overall, definitely a top-tier season. I still think 5 is better, personally, because that season was loaded with memorable people and stacked with memorable moments (Colin's series of meltdowns + the drive-by "BITCH!" + Mirna in general + "MINE KEEP HAVING SEX!" + The Sphinx being a Pit Stop, to name some). Kemi sealed her fate by ignoring Jackson when he won that power. Kemi would have put Jack on the block, so... why would he not do the same to her? It doesn't make any sense from any logical perspective.
