The Korrasami Denier Backpedal is a dance that never gets old, in that it was already plenty old five years ago.

'It came out of nowhere and had no foreshadowing!'

*Lists foreshadowing*

'Well...that just means they're good friends, doesn't mean they're in some kind of realtionship!'

*Points out that the creators intent was explicit and no, they did quite obviously end up in a relationship*

'Well...it's still bad, why are you so upset about it?'

I guess I shouldn't complain that 'well other shows have since given same-sex couples more development' has become a new step in the dance over the past couple years, since it obviously means gay representation has become more commonplace.

He's not wrong at all though.

He quite is. The 'that just means they're good friends' stance is not only the most tired and easily-debunked attitude towards Korrasami, but also one of the most tired attitudes towards homosexual relationships in general. The showrunners stated that Korra and Asami building towards a relationship was their intention starting in Book 3, and the foreshadowing is there. His willful ignorance / resistance towards it doesn't change this. There is no ambiguity because it was the showrunners' explicit intent to plant these seeds, and Korra and Asami did in fact end up in a romantic relationship; to continue to deny this is to quite simply deny the reality of the situation.

I'm still partial to RotJ's space battle, particularly the shot of all those TIE fighters swarming over the Falcon's cockpit.

Oh, and on any version prior to that motherfucking 'NOOOO' alteration, my favorite all-time moment is Vader throwing the Emperor down the elevator shaft.

I guess good friends are something that isnt ever mistaken for homosexuality of there is no other context...

  • From Season 3 onward, Asami guards Korra's body while Korra is in the Spirit World, a role exclusively reserved for the Spirit World-goer's SO throughout both series (the only exception being Jinora in S2, who has no SO at the time)
  • Korra visibly blushes when Asami compliments her haircut, which in these shows is an inarguable sign of romantic interest
  • Shortly thereafter, Korra and Asami have a pseudo-lover's fight, after which even Mako takes notice and comments 'is something going on between you two?'
  • Asami is the only one Korra feels comfortable writing to while she's in her depressive state

The foreshadowing is there. You can nitpick it apart until you're blue in the face, but your inability to perceive it upon first viewing won't magically cause it to not be there; there was sufficient foreshadowing to bring things to the final shot of the show, which was two same-sex characters coming to the realization that they had romantic feelings for each other. More room for development would have always been welcome, but what we got was very likely the maximum extent of onscreen relationship Nickelodeon allowed the showrunners to portray.

I don't think you've spent enough time around actual members of Trump's base if you believe he's incapable of acting that genuinely dumb. Though 'dumb' is an oversimplification. 'Dangerously oblivious to their own constant hypocrisy' would be more accurate.

And that's not taking into account the very real possibility that Trump is senile or otherwise mentally ill.

I didn't even use alchemy or enchanting, and went from struggling against Nix Hounds and Cliff Racers to effortlessly thwacking everything in my path (Including all high-level daedra and such) around levels 14 thru 16. This was incidentally around the time I stumbled upon such uber-gear and Eilodon's Ward, Chrysamere, and Dragonbone Mail.

Actually, I take that back, Daedroth had nasty enough spells that they still gave me pause (shame that they ended up devolving them into brainless alligator beasts in Oblivion). I think after that point, the only enemy that was even remotely challenging was Dagoth Ur's final form, simply because he spammed attribute damage.

I won't say that Avengers 1 killed my interest in the MCU at that point, but...it didn't do it any favors. That movie just did not click with me at all apart from 'Puny God.' I had the benefit of watching Age of Ultron very shortly after Winter Soldier and GotG reignited my MCU interest with a passion, and I was a lot more forgiving of its flaws. So if I had to pick between Avengers 1 and AoU to rewatch, I'd easily pick the latter.

The Dead Speak!

I laughed out loud and thought 'oh my god this movie is going to be such a fucking train wreck' when that was literally the very beginning of the movie, and I hope it becomes a meme.

But as it turned out, I actually enjoyed tRoS, and would say it's handily my favorite of the new trilogy. Of course that's not high praise considering TFA was a bland rehash and TLJ had two things I hated for every one thing I liked. The movie's still a hot mess in many ways: the biggest problem is that the pacing is terribly fast for the first half of the movie, and the existence of Palpatine is such painfully obvious damage control after TLJ. And even though the CGI Carrie Fisher is at least an improvement upon the Rogue One attempts, it's probably the most uncomfortable I've felt watching a reanimated actor. But other than that, for once I actually gave a shit about Rey, Finn, Poe, and Kylo, and just generally had a good time watching the movie.

Off the top of my head, 'The Man Who Killed Batman' is one of my favorites. As I child it was my first deep look into the Joker's psyche, and how he only really cares about staying locked in an eternal struggle with his nemesis. And the ending, when Batman sends Sid the Squid off to prison with a knowing wink, always reminds me why this is my favorite portrayal of Batman; he may beat criminals to a pulp, but he understands their motivations and is not unsympathetic with them.

They're mad that Luke isn't Goku. That's pretty much all you need to know.

I do want to give more credit to the people who hate Luke in TLJ, but honestly, I think they misinterpreted the characters all these years. The outrage over him contemplating killing Kylo while he slept seems to be the biggest offender to people who think this way, as if old man Luke could never be capable of such a thought. Thing is though, Luke has always been emotional, impetuous, quick to anger and frustration. His occasional moments of speaking like a wise old master in RotJ don't change this, as he still lashes out emotionally in many scenes. He really is his father's son in every way that counts; they both walked right up to the edge up jumping into the dark side, and the only thing that separates Luke is that, in the moment of truth with the Emperor, he chose not to turn back and not give in to his dark desires.

I think people were expecting him to become the new Obi-Wan: a wise, patient teacher type, which isn't Luke's character at all. The personality traits present in young Obi-Wan are very consistent with old Obi-Wan; I have no trouble believing that Ewan McGregor and Alec Guiness are playing the same character at different points in his life. Similarly, I find young Luke and old Luke to have the same consistency. Some people like to think that characters don't have meaningful arcs if they're not completely different people from where they started. But even in fiction, characters rarely ever change completely; they just learn how to better deal with their bad nature and impulses. To suggest that a character is ruined simply because they returned to such impulses in a moment of weakness is, honestly, pretty unfair; I think it goes a long way towards humanizing them.
