Ok yeah. This show just went from watchable, to bingeable.

They met jet. For a show of this caliber to actually deal with the morally grey, to show that becoming as bad as the people you're fighting isn't the way, to actually bring up these difficult choices, it's truly amazing. A lot of mature themes, difficult themes.

The best mature themes/morally grey episode blows that one out of the water

It's the first game in the timeline, and is a pretty solid campaign imo but I wouldn't fault you at all for wanting to play the original 3 first

Heavily disagree on the Scarab. The Halo 2 Scarab is only a threat within the context of the story. It's not a threat to the player at all unless you deliberately go out of your way to get killed by it. And boarding it of course is entirely scripted.

The Scarabs in Halo 3 are a big part of what makes that campaign so good. I mean it's no coincidence that the three best missions in the game are the ones with Scarab fights. And yes a single Scarab is not exactly difficult to fight. And you can potentially destroy it quickly just by shooting its legs and climbing on. But some of my fondest memories of Halo 3 are trying to find creative ways to board the Scarab, usually involving trying to get a vehicle on there.

Also, the double Scarab fight on Legendary can be way more difficult than Halo 2's Scarab boarding on Legendary. You fight them in a flat, open area and if you lose your vehicle you're incredibly vulnerable to enemy vehicles.

I'd rather it stay threatening in a noninteractive way (like a ship) but I hear what you're saying. I think a fusion of the two ideas might have bee nmore something I liked. Like you have to stop the scarab in a certain amount of time before it gets within firing range of a UNSC dropship or something like that.

Also for some reason I remember the second single scarab fight being harder than the double scarab fight. Probably cuz there were like 50 wraiths around too.

Halo 2 is the most challenging one with the best story. The 'levels' being split up into 2 different actual levels was kinda weird but I don't even think I have a problem with it.

Halo CE is mostly really good but occasionally has some parts that feel a little too quiet. It's also kind of exploitable and the back half drags on a bit. The Flood debut is amazing and the Warthog run is an epic videogame moment.

I actually think Reach has a fantastic campaign. It's long but it doesn't fee like it drags on. The protags getting 'big' victories against the covenant only for the stakes to get raised right away gives the story an epic feel to me. And there were tons of cool weapons added in that game.

I like the 3 campaign but it's not as good as the first 2 by a decent bit. I thought the story was wrapped up in a very satisfying way in 3, but I thought it felt like it lost a bit of character that the first two games had. I'm not sure I really like what they did with the scarabs in 3. They didn't really seem threatening like the one in 2 was. I get that they have to be beatable somehow but giving them incredibly easy-to-dodge weapons just seems cheap to me. The whole rampant Cortana thing was kind of odd too but I think it might be setting up a big angle in 6.

I don't remember 4 that much. The Didact was awesome but dies in a kind of dumb way and I would have liked to see him make it out of 4 alive too. The prometheans are kind of cool but also kind of annoying to fight. I'm not super sure why there's a splinter faction of pro-Sangheili Covenant there fighting with humans again.

ODST had that cool open world kind of thing going on but it wasn't really that kind of game and the flashback missions weren't really a thing I liked. I kinda don't remember too much of the actual story/missions.

5 I hardly remember at all. The 'whose side are you on' thing was a weird marketing gimmick that didn't actually matter in the game and rampant Cortana is a weird choice for a villain (unless it's for the reasons I think it is). Killing that Sangheili terrorist leader right away made that whole plot feel like filler of sorts too, and the team-up with Thel Vadam didn't seem like it was as cool as it should have been.

Fellowship easily. Return was a slog down the stretch, and Aragorn's 'lost king returns to claim his throne' story never really resonated with me for some reason

AoT is one of the most overrated pieces of fictional entertainment of all time. Like, it's entertaining enough to me, but it's not great and struggles to be even good at times.
