I should have answered this above, but, of those three options, I put the RE2 remake head and shoulders above the others. I enjoy DMC5, and I have not played Days Gone, but I can definitely vouch for that remake.

And that is what worries me about the whole dog-and-pony show. No matter how thorough the investigation, how solid the case, how mountainous the pile of facts, the Senate will not do its job. In that sense, no matter the legal necessity of it, this is a waste of time, money, and political capital.

And, until deep systemic issues like the Electoral College are fixed and / or removed, it will only continue while Xi and Putin laugh into their sleeves at how big a failure this democracy has become (... admittedly with their help).

I used to ponder getting a PSX back in the day, but it never made it to the U.S. *shrugs* And I never did understand why the PS1 was called the PSX. There is nothing in there to suggest the letter X for the acronym. Ditto for referring to the Game Cube as the GCN. Why is the N there?

Committed a very old school D&D mistake yesterday by misjudging the blast radius of a fireball. Of my wizard, only the pointy hat remained, but all the Undead he was attempting to blow up had similar luck. Entire party had a good laugh at that mishap. ... Will have to play a barbarian next, I think. Wizards take so long to get good in 2nd Edition that I am not sure the class is a good fit for my play style. Was fun while it lasted, though.

It all comes down to the quality of the writing, IMO. Inclusion can be seamless, rather than ham-fisted, but being in-your-face and confrontational seems to be a hallmark of the Social Justice movement.

Only five games. I dare say that is too difficult a question for me to answer. How to narrow it down? Hmm. At the very least, I need to make certain to choose a system that is not disc-based to reduce the chances of it failing as time progresses. Meaning Nintendo. Meaning at least two of those titles are going to be a Metroid and a Pokmon.

Have been enjoying The Mandalorian thus far. It definitely feels like a Western in space, but not in the same way as Firefly.

Games have been in the $60 U.S. range before. I remember putting SNES cartridges (e.g. Ogre Battle) on layaway and having to pay that amount over time.

I will be playing Shield, and my wife will be playing Sword, so I pre-ordered the double pack, regardless of the bad press. Should still be fun, IMO, but that might be because I have never been super hardcore about catching 'em all. For me, it's more, "catch what's around, just have fun".

Got Disney + here, too. It's kinda nice to not have to worry about the stupid Disney Vault any more. Hell, one whole category on the service is called "From the Vault".

Me being me, though, I'm just glad they've got Tron in there. Still haven't been able to repair that DVD to the point where it'll play past Flynn reassembling the Recognizer.

Never thought anybody would rip off Huniepop, but I guess anything's possible. The game is Passion Puzzle on the Google Play Store. It's seriously got all the same mechanics, though probably minus the naughty bits. The biggest surprise for me is that it's not made in mainland China (which usually warrants an automatic uninstall from me).

I still have several of my VHS tapes from the Age of Fansubs. Good times created by good people (because subtitling, speaking from a little experience, is enough of a pain in the all-digital era that I cannot imagine how difficult it must have been in those days), though I do not miss the availability issues.

And I want to jump into the JRPG discussion from several posts up, since that's my wheelhouse, but, er, I'm not sure I can completely engage on that one. Most of the games I love from the eras described are games that P.O. absolutely hates.

I can offer a memory, though: I picked up .hack//SIGN and Xenosaga Episode I (plus Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter) on the same day back in '03 (February, IIRC). One of my prouder moments as a collector. It was one of my last paychecks from my university job before I graduated and moved back to this city. I remember having to wrap the games up in my scarf to keep them warm for the bus ride back to the dorm.

Finding JRPGs felt like more of an achievement back then, both because of rarity and because there were more stores than just Game Stop. E-Bay was also much more of a jungle than it is now. In the beginning, I could not use Pay Pal, so I had to hike to the local Kroger for money orders early in the morning so I could mail them off. (My first E-Bay purchase was a memory cartridge for my Sega CD so that I could get the extra scenarios in Shining Force CD.)

Eh, not really going anywhere with that. Just felt like sharing.

I am so far behind in this series that it's hilarious. I'm at least four or five games back from Ryza. *facepalm* I mean, it's great that they're still making them, but there's such a thing as too much of a good thing, sometimes.

Meanwhile, I was thinking about getting Conception Plus (i.e. the remake of the original Conception, which was import-only in the PSP days), but, of course, Sony censored the bejeebers out of it, and my laptop has no hope of running the (uncensored) Steam version, so ... have to pass for now. That, and Game Stop apparently isn't even going to try carrying it.
