From what ive seen on here, a lot of people who have never played the games or read the books seem to enjoy it a lot.

Also its different enough from the books that youll be able to enjoy them if you decide to read them some day.

I live in Alabama, so although Im a pretty fit guy, I may be qualified to comment.

Because people are fucking dumb as hell down here. They insist on remaining ignorant about as many subjects as possible, EXCEPT for The Bible, because thats the ONLY important thing.

So naturally, very few people down here have educated themselves on nutrition. So most people are ignorant that you can have good-tasting food that is also healthy, or if they are aware of that, they dont spend much time or effort learning how to implement it into their lifestyle.

i mean, even Im not a genius. Pretty much the only thing I pay attention to is that I get a lot of protein in my diet. Protein is the most filling macro nutrient, so if you have a high protein diet, you can feel full all the time and not be a lardass.

but yeah, most cookouts you go to here are over saturated with sugar and/or fried foods. People dont know other ways to make their food taste good because of a refusal to educate themselves just like every other subject. I fucking hate it here.

The way the Doppler exposes himself to Ciri in ep. 6 doesnt really make sense. He is supposed to be an exact copy, right down to his thoughts, memories and even mannerisms. He even stated so on the show right after he did the thing. So slipping up the way he did was kind of dumb.

First 4 episodes are enjoyable, but nothing spectacular. Huge leap in quality on the 5th episode. I havent watched the 6th yet, but Im sure its great because its based on my favorite story from the books. According to another user on here, 7 and 8 are also great. So stick with it if youre not over impressed with the first 4.

It is. Too good, in fact. I always thought he sounded monotoned in TW3 and he does here, too. And he sure does like to say Hmmmm a lot.

Oh yay episode 6 is the one about the golden dragon! Thats my favorite story from the books! Ive read that story alone at least 5 times!

@Shablagoo episode 5 was fucking good. If this continues, then I highly recommend the show.

I wonder what the purpose was behind changing Dandelions name to Jaskier.

Edit: never mind. I just looked it up and it turns out that was his name in the original Polish version. It translates to Buttercup. I guess the English translator figured that name sounded too feminine.

@Shablagoo 4 episodes in, Im not a fan of all of it, but its okay. Id say its about on par with your average MCU movie. Check it out if youre interested, but dont blame me if you feel like you wasted your time. I think if this season does well, the next seasons can be better if theyre given a bigger budget.

Oh and even though the chronology is a little out of whack, I'm liking the relationship between Geralt and Dandelion here. Y'know how Geralt is famous in the books... like everywhere he goes, people seem to have heard of him. Before watching the show, I never considered that perhaps it's because he's best friends with the world's greatest bard. They're putting emphasis on that here.

Didn't really watch them and when I did I didn't pay a lot of attention.

Hmmm. I'm noticing this follows the same trend as the books, in that the parts that follow Geralt are actually less interesting than the rest of the characters. I've always said that Ciri is the actual protagonist of the books, not Geralt.

2nd episode is much greater than the first, but still lacking. WHERE ARE THE FUCKING DRYADS?!?!? On to Episode 3!

Edit: I'm kind of glad dryads might be omitted, for a very selfish reason. I'm writing a novel about dryads, and I don't want people to think it's because I ripped the idea from The Witcher. Although my inspiration did come from the books. As far as I know, there is no better lore of dryads than that from The Witcher books.

Maybe. The entire time I watched the first episode, I was thinking is this something id Recommend to my friends who havent read the books? And the answer was no, because it felt like bad cinematography and pacing. But then it got better towards the end. Game of Thrones took a few episodes to warm up, so im giving it the benefit of the doubt and ill let you know as I watch more episodes.

One interesting thing ive noticed is even though the music is by different person than the composer for the games, I definitely recognize these tunes from the TW3. Pretty sure I heard the somber string section of the Kaer Morhen theme in the trailer. Cant wait to hear it in the show (hopefully).

Based only on what ive seen in the first episode, no. In fact ive disliked It more because its so unlike the books.

BUT the first episode got better towards the end. I will answer your question after I finish the first season sometime before noon (Im a night shift guy so I wont be sleeping before then) or maybe sooner.

Either way, please DO give the audiobooks a try. Even if you dont think youre an audiobook person. Peter Kennys voice for Geralt >>>> all others. Hes also a hell of a narrator.

First episode started bad, but I had warmed up to it by the end.

Theyre kind of butchering the chronology of the books, but that doesnt have to be a bad thing. Im interested to see what kind of direction they go. They better not omit Brokilon and the dryads.

Guy basically took the words right out of my mouth regarding Hayden Christensen. Starts at the 7:20 mark in that video if anyone is interested.

Although, I was specifically talking about ep.3 when I said he did a good job. He was definitely not great in ep.2. But in the case of both movies, I have always maintained that shitty writing was the root cause of the poor acting.

And it sucks that the poor writing and directing of Star Wars ruined a potentially decent actor's career.

Edit: Aaaaah he's talking about Ewan McGregor now! Sometimes I feel like he must be the greatest actor of all time. Even Lucas's shitty writing and directing could not hope to scathe McGregor's brilliant performance as Obi Wan!

I don't get why people say *all* the prequels suck. Sure the first two do, but RotS is great. Is it just because it's lumped in with the other two that people say it sucks as well?

Anakin v. Obi Wan brought a tear to my eye the last time I watched it. Some people say that fight was too "extra" but whatever. I liked it. It was supposed to be the last Star Wars movie ever, so everyone was expecting an epic light saber battle with the best choreography and visual effects. It achieved just that.

Like, every human has consciousness, and so do animals. But every other living thing that has had a consciousness, besides myself, has been like an empty shell from my point of view. Sure, I KNOW the rest of you have feelings, thoughts, ambitions and so on. But I can't feel them. I have only felt those things from ONE individual, and that is the individual who was born in the body that is currently typing on this keyboard. Why isn't this body just an empty shell to me also? What is it about a body possessing a consciousness that *I* and I alone get to experience, but I can only do it once and never again? Like why didn't this happen to me 4,000 years ago? Why didn't it happen to me in the body of a cat? Why was it a human? Why was it THIS human? It could have been anything, but only one anything, but why only one?
