I've been playing a decent amount of FF XIV and am up to level 24. Thoughts so far:

1. Definitely not enjoying it as much as WoW; we'll see if this changes!
2. I don't understand the choice to make noncombat jobs their own classes with dedicated equipment you have to switch to
3. Graphics are good and it's nice to see references to other FF games

I dumped a ton of time into Streetpass Mii Plaza a few years ago after not having tried it for like five years! Very luckily for me, the campus wifi routers all functioned as hotspots that would hold the last several people to pass by, so I was able to consistently fill up my street passes each day until they shut that down (or even get dozens if I wanted to spend an hour or two walking around campus and continuously clearing them out...). I was able to finish the puzzles, Find Mii, and most of the fishing one whose name Im blanking on. Unfortunately its probably too late to try the others at this point now that Im getting like one Streetpass a month if Im lucky! (I still carry my 3DS with me daily).

I also want to echo the shoutout to the Hat Hamwitch and its palette swaps. The layered puns comprising their names are already impressive. What makes me appreciate them most though, is that the sham variants are Beast-family monsters that can't cast spells, while the Hat Hamwitch itself is a Material-family monster (because the magical hat is the emphasis) that can cast spells.

That's really cool; hadn't noticed that!

I think thats probably true for me? At least it would be really hard for a new game to compete with the nostalgia I have for my top few games. Like I guess its theoretically possible that, say, a new Ace Attorney game comes out and is clearly the best in the series, and uses the current position of T&T to force its way into the top 5, but generally theres probably gonna be a bias there.

great: 8, 11
good: 3, 1, 4
okay: 6, 5
ehh: 7, 9
bad: 2

Despite it being my second least favorite game in the series, I always feel like DQ2 is underrated. It's pretty fun!

Maybe it's that I naturally tend to grind in RPGs and don't mind looking at walkthroughs if I get lost.

to fight against or to fight with? I'm a big fan of Goldgolem in DQM. as far as classic monsters go, I generally like the trolls and gigantes's and other impressively goofy monster animations. I didn't mention it but DQ8's monster animations really put it way over the top.
I don't like Shovel Knight! I backed the kickstarter and was really excited for it but I just did not like the gameplay very much. there was lots of instant death and the combat wasn't very fun. I remember an overreliance on the magic but it's been years since I looked at it.

I meant just overall, not necessarily to use (though that's an interesting question as well!) I'm not sure what the answer is for me, but I've always really liked Dracky (also since it popped into my head, my favorite new monster in DQ XI is definitely the Hat Hamwitch line).

I loved all of the Shovel Knight games as I played them, but I replayed the original a week or two ago after playing King of Cards and the movement did indeed feel pretty awkward; it might be worth it to see if the sequels feel any better to you! (particularly Specter of Torment and King of Cards)

The thing that annoyed me about Super Metroid's controls (having played it after the GBA games) was switching between missiles/super missiles etc. I found it to be very awkward, and there were a few bosses where I felt like I couldn't do it fast enough.

Did you actually finish with four berserkers? I know Not Dave did, but I think he had to fight Ex Death thousands of times.

(Unless I'm confused and it was a solo berserker challenge? Maybe that was it...)
