Given what we have seen from Bray in the past and what has happened to Bray over the years, I don't even see how multiple personalities is even a stretch. From Husky to crazy cult leader was already a pretty drastic shift and it's hardly like crazy cult leaders who speak in nonsense all the time are the sanest of people. Plus with shit like his house getting burned down.

That was how the big money league was supposed to work but the organizer is fucking lazy and just didn't do it

I think I just need better leagues although honestly I didn't even want to play this year anyway so maybe that's the answer

Roto is essentially that you don't "play" anyone ever, your team just accrues points and you just go off of total points. It works better for daily stuff admittedly, but it is still the most fair format to exist if you're purely looking for the best team.

Ah so basically exactly how English fantasy football works. I agree that's far better but no way will people agree to it as they like the match ups

I wish I could get my leagues to agree to a non standard format where teams were rewarded better for their total points

I don't know if roto is the same thing but one of my friends leagues does a league where you play one person and then you also play against the mean or the median, I forgot which, and both results count. So there's an inherent forgiveness factor if the schedule screws you over

Ended up recording our first Orlando Magic podcast the other day and released yesterday. The first few minutes were rough audio wise but after that it went okayish

We are still waiting for iTunes verification but we got around 100 listens off Anchor in the first 24 hours and positive feedback.

I think as soon as we get our first player on we will see an uptick in audience. I don't know what to expect numbers wise. I know one of the other main Magic podcasts took 40 episodes to get 10k listens. The main guy on our podcast thinks if shouldn't take us more than 10-15 once we get iTunes verification

Edit: Just realized he did a bad job of posting it on social media too. He linked to the show main page whereas if he had linked to the actual episode, it could be played from social media rather than redirecting to anchor website

If everything holds I'll be entering the playoffs as the following in my 3 leagues

1 Seed 10-3 (10 man / Fun)
2 Seed 10-3 (16 man / $1000 prize)
3 Seed 7-6 (12 man / $1500 prize) - The 1 and 2 seeds will be 8-5, the other 4 playoff teams will 7-6.

I have the most points scored in all 3 so hopefully I win at least 1 of the money leagues.

I am comfortably the highest scorer in my main money league and I am primed to be eliminated from making the playoffs tomorrow if Dalvin Cook has an average game. Taking a 27 point cushion into the game and Cook averages 28.5 in our league.

If I had played Robert Woods or Courtland Sutton over either Kenyan Drake in the flex or DJ Chark as a WR I'd be home free probably.

I also have an outside shot of making it with a loss if Seattle have a monster game as someone else could beat another playoff contending team if Wilson / Lockett / KJ Wright have decent games

Edit - He still has Hunter Henry in play so I could lose points cushion before tomorrow too

I went out drinking on Friday night after the Magic game wearing my Magic jersey and a baseball cap on backwards. I was out with my fiancee (27 yo but literally just turned 27 this week), her friend (23 yo) and met 2 of her friends friends who must have been in the 21-24 range. They were all dressed up nice rather than in sports gear like me. I felt like the 'How do you do fellow kids?' meme

I haven't seen enough of Utah to give a solid opinion on them but from what I could gather from the pundits, their ranking was based on stout defense? I did watch the game last night and I think they said when Colorado scored the TD last night, it was the first TD scored against them since September which now that I look at their schedule is horseshit because Washington put up 28. Unless they meant at home only

Anyway they can easily leapfrog Oklahoma ahead of Utah if they want. Oklahoma played ranked opposition yesterday, Utah did not. They both play in title games and barring anything screwy, Oklahoma's opponent will be higher ranked too.

I think the most realistic chance of getting the strongest playoff would be for Georgia to beat LSU and we would be left with Ohio State, Clemson, Georgia, LSU for the playoffs.

The issue this year is that all the teams outside the unbeaten 3 have flaws on their resumes. Whether it be a bad loss, multiple losses or terrible SOS.

If I was a UCF fan I for sure would be bitter. The system is a joke that is more geared around TV ratings and names rather than actual play on field

I'm an Ohio State fan so it's not even like I'm negatively impacted by the system but I still think it's stupid. I know that the vast majority of the time the group of 5 are far worse than the P5 but then in the very rare instances that they aren't they are just overlooked and there's only a small window for those teams. Meanwhile big name teams who are undeserving get in.

Also no way are Alabama better than LSU or Ohio State. I could see a case for Clemson who have played nobody but not the other two.

Second best? Interested to see who you have above and below them.

Also it drives me crazy that Alabama is still getting the benefit of the doubt for being dominant against shit teams. UCF were just as dominant against bad teams, had a similar SOS, had more ranked wins and had zero losses. None of you would let UCF anywhere near the top 4 yet you all seem to rate Alabama way higher

I waited too long and missed this

I kind of got lucky. By the time it hit $300 it wasn't available anywhere online but I checked on the Target website filtered it down to stores that had it in stock only. There was a store about 80 miles away that had it and we just made a day trip of it and did other stuff in the area to make it worthwhile (was where we found the engagement ring she loved too).

Looking at the Target website now, there's still stores that have it in stock. Whether there's one near you is another matter. After I snagged the one near Tampa, it now shows the next nearest to me as Murfreesboro which is almost 600 miles away.

It may be worth checking though

Go to edit store and then toggle on show in stock stores only

EDIT: Looks like there's Open Box and New ones on Ebay for $320-340 including shipping. Bit more than $300 but less than the $400 it was

I don't understand why people have trouble with having female friends and not being able to keep feelings at just friends. Women seem to have no problem friendzoning men but it seem whenever it's discussed in reverse, a lot of men have trouble just being friends with a woman.

The answer is yes it's perfectly fine to be friends with a married woman unless there's ulterior motives involved.

Girlfriend had that exact same issue with a hospital

Had an allergic reaction (and we don't know what to) during a 1 week period where her health insurance lapsed between jobs. Applied for financial aid and was told everything was fine. Ended up getting a bill of like $500 and paid it off.

Fast forward a few months and the hospital is chasing her up for an extra $500 which was for the doctors time or some shit despite being told everything was fine and taken care of whenever she spoke to their finance people. Even today now like 15 months onwards she gets collections agencies chasing her up even though every time she talks to the hospital they say it was taken care of or they have paperwork issues or something

Worst fucking part is it was for an allergic reaction that had completely gone away by the time the doctor got to see her. He spoke to her for less than 3 minutes and only recommended carrying an EpiPen in case it happened again. So they effectively charged her $1000 with financial aid to sit and wait 2 hours and be told something that was common sense. She even told them when we got there that if they didn't have some sort of financial aid program to take care of it, we didn't want to wait

Clemson are literally being criticized for shitty SOS this season despite Bama's being weaker. I haven't heard anyone criticize Bama's SOS. We also had UCF be dominant without a loss at a similar SOS to Alabama and they didn't even get in sniffing distance of playoffs. Alabama should be held to the same standard as every other team and if their SOS is shit they should be penalized for scheduling an atrocious OOC schedule.

South Carolina 4

Auburn 6
Florida 19
Georgia 26
Arkansas 28
Ole Miss 29
Tennessee 35
LSU 40

Oklahoma SOS 27
Clemson SOS 62
Alabama SOS 63

So Alabama now has a worse SOS than Clemson despite being propped up by playing LSU. And Clemson are getting canned for their shitty SOS.

If you take that LSU game out and treat Alabama as an undefeated, they would have a worse SOS than UCF in the years they were kept out.

Current SOS as of yesterdays games (EDIT: Actually it isn't updated yet so that SOS is as of Nov 16 games not Nov 24)

Oklahoma 31
Alabama 52

If Oklahoma win out they will have 3 ranked wins (2 more than now). If Alabama wins out they will have 1 ranked win (1 more than now). So I'm pretty sure Oklahoma's SOS will be higher than Bamas by season end.

Also that Alabama 52 is being propped up by playing LSU. If you remove that LSU game and treat Alabama as an undefeated team instead, they have a SOS that is similar to Clemson who have been trashed for their SOS. Both of them would have a SOS that is in the area of what UCF had in their undefeated years when they were kept out due to not beating anyone and having shitty SOS

They deserved it more than they would this year but it was more circumstances and a shitty system that put them in.

The alternatives were:

An Ohio State team that looked better than them with a stronger SOS but had a ridiculously unforgivable loss on their schedule

A Wisconsin team who effectively got punished for having to play a championship game that Alabama didn't (i.e. they were unbeaten in regular season but lost the Big Ten title game by 1 score to Ohio State)

A Penn State team who had the #2 SOS in the country with 2 losses on the road by a combined 4 points. 1 to a walk off FG and another to a ridiculous 4th quarter comeback to lose to Ohio State by 1 point

An unbeaten team who had as many ranked wins as Alabama but because they played outside the P5 they would never be considered

I mean I get it, the committee would have had to be ballsy as fuck to pick anyone but Alabama. Really though they got in because the committee didn't dare put any of the above in rather than because they deserved it. I think 3 of the 4 above probably had a legit chance to win it all like Bama did

Oh I guess I have a half story about that.

Like 10-15 years ago one of my friends from school was a professional player. He played in Tier 3-4 across his career (he was on Tier 1 reserve team for his teenage years before being let to go play first team football). His team played one of the best Tier 1 teams in the country in the FA cup.

He got sent off for fouling Andriy Shevchenko who was held the record for the most expensive transfer fee in England when that team signed him.

So here was a dude I went to school with who got paid probably $500 a week fouling a dude who cost $45-50m in transfer fees and was getting paid like $100-200k a week. This was in errr 2007 iirc.

I guess not being familiar with Euro soccer is making it hard for me to grasp the purpose of a small regular season tournament using middle of the road teams in November/December with playoff implications.

It's hard to translate to American sports. In England a competition the attraction of a competition like the FA Cup is the field is massive and it's possible for far lesser teams to get far enough in the competition to play the huge teams. And on some occasions they actually win.

The English Football Pyramid looks like this

https://justtalkingaboutmygeneration.files.wordpress.com/2014/02/546319_10150689478622843_1062053608_n.jpg

If you win the league (or sometimes come in the top 2-4 of one tier) and you go up to the next tier. The above is actually condensed as once you get lower down the pyramids there is a shit ton of teams. To put it in perspective, when I was a teenager I played in Tier 10. Games were played on Sundays (or week day nights) in the equivalent of a random park with like 5-50 people watching.

In the FA Cup it is entirely possible for a team like that to win enough games to get to the point where they play the equivalent of an NFL or NBA team. It rarely happens but what does happen at least a few times a year is a team from like Tier 4-7 plays a Tier 1-2 team and like 1-2 times a year they pull the upset off.

It's always fun watching semi-pro players who basically don't get paid playing against players who are getting paid $300k a week to play.

Was having a discussion with a friend today about the Orange Bowl and the forced ACC tie in.

It is absolute horse shit that they are forced to take an ACC team when the 2nd team is so bad (I'd have the same opinion regardless of conference). Like how can they be so anti group of 5 and then at the same time reward such mediocrity with a high profile bowl game? There needs to be a stipulation that if a NY6 bowl game bid would go to a team outside the top 15, it goes to an at large team instead

Uh wow, I just checked my salary situation for next season which I already knew would be bleak and it is far worse than I expected.

If I resign everyone I wanted, I would be ~9 mil over cap with 6 holes. If I cut Turner then I'm ~1 mil over with 7 holes

If I do what I thought would be enough and cut Turner, don't resign my FS and don't resign an OT. I'd be ~10-13m under cap with 9 holes. So err not even close to feasible

Ugh, I'm probably going to have to do the above and shed 2-3 big players too. Next season is going to suck really really badly.

That's the cost of failure this season!
