I was supposed to be watching my younger sister but I basically pushed her to go away to a friends or something. So I had the place to myself.

Then I invited the gal I was seeing over for some awkward unfulfilling teenage sex.

Mom comes home early, and I guess she put together that I pawned my sister off on someone else. She threw to door to my room open, I guess not knowing I was actually with someone.

She closed the door again and tells the girl to get dressed. The girl leaves and awkwardly hangs out in the living room.

Then my Mom starts screaming at me. "Irresponsible", "bad brother", etc. Then I guess she didn't see a box of condoms anywhere so she just screams "WHERE ARE THE FUCKING CONDOMS!?!" and when my peanut brain couldn't string together a thought she yelled "If you get a girl pregnant I'm gonna fucking kill you!"

The girl was still in the living room and heard everything. Everyone in my social sphere knew about it soon after. I was about 17 IIRC

no out of pocket maximum is the most you have to pay for covered services in a plan year. After you spend this amount on deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance, your health plan pays 100% of the costs of covered benefits. Mine is 5k for in network and 10k for out of network once i pay that the insurance company is forced to pay everything else 100%

You can still get billed with insurance. I had a medical emergency, spent a week in the hospital, got surgery, insurance covered most but I still owe the hospital like 7k that I don't have lol

Youtube alone has more video content than you could watch in 1000 lifetimes. Our ancestors could only dream of something like this. And, as robots continue to improve, costs will continue to drop, and more things will be available for free.

Which is, of course, ignoring the fact that UBI money can also be spent on leisure.

That sucks. I remember my debit card was abruptly canceled when my credit union determined that it had possibly been involved in a leak of card numbers used at Noodles and Company. I tried to make a purchase, and it was declined despite having plenty of money in my account. So I drove down to the local credit union branch and tried to withdraw cash, and the ATM ate my card and said to go inside. Except it was Sunday, so they were closed and my day's plans were ruined and I had to eat PB&J sandwiches all day because I was trying to go grocery shopping.

Fun times.

I pay taxes for the same reason I don't beat up my neighbours and steal their house - because it's the law.

I enjoy the benefits of those taxes, in the sense that if someone tried to beat me up and steal my house, I can be confident that the entity those taxes get paid to will send a group of people over to remove the offenders. That costs money, though - hence, the taxes.

It's a fair tradeoff.

Yes, I can renegotiate my loan. Yes, I can ask for lower interest. If you lose your job and cannot pay, banks can and will negotiate from you, on the logic that they'd rather get some of their money back than none.

I don't know how much you make - perhaps it's a lot less than I do and that's why you think the bank doesn't consider its customers valuable, but I can tell you straight-up that you're wrong about this. A bank without investors is an empty building with no money.

Also, computers are impressively shitty at emulating neurons. I'm emulating 160 neurons. It takes an hour to guess anything. The human brain has 100 billion neurons. I might give writing a new library a shot at some point, but it's likely entirely new hardware will be needed. It might take an AI itself to design this software/hardware.

After all the tariffs, most of which are in effect, the US consumer is still buying, paying the difference without a single complaint. Can never underestimate the American Consumer. Restaurants packed, starbucks packed with cubicle workers who need to get their cup of morning joe, hayseeds doing construction work on every street. They take out student loans, start working at a restaurant (but only until they finish school they'll make sure to point out to you), get married. Wife can not wait till they buy a house with max leverage, 5% down max, 30 year old loan. Then the real spending binge starts. New SUVs with 7 year loans. Every kind of appliance, kitchen stuff, clothes. On Black Friday it is like sharks on feeding frenzy. Then there is Amazon. Max out credit till they cannot.
