Yeah, if you actually read the article it isn't nearly as "impressive" as the headline makes it sound, but I suppose that's standard. Even among the guys who took the bait in the sting opperation it's unlikely they'll face that much time as long as they don't have something like this already on their record.

Also this isn't really an Ohio thing, if the police put in the work and money setting up schemes like this in literally any other location they could pull in a large number of people. There's a reason they don't though... Because frankly it isn't worth the effort in their eyes unless they need the publicity as well.

I regret getting the Switch version since it's still missing the major updates, and even if you got it on sale it'll still probably be more expensive than if you'd bought the PC version if you buy the updates when they come out. It also slows to a crawl on bigger maps in late game, like it's terrible to the point I've never finished a game since I get tired of waiting for the damn thing to load more than actually playing.

So a few weeks ago we had either a stupid kid or a druggie break into the old unused detached garage and steal like $20 worth of garbage. I noticed since then he's left the tv in the main room on, at a slightly higher than average volume even, constantly, regardless of if anyone is watching it. I went and turned it off a few times like when I got home from work first, thinking he just forgot to do it himself but just a minute ago when I did so he came in and turned it right back on telling me it was supposed to be a "deterrent" so anyone casing the house would assume someone was home... I thought the guy was decently smart but I'm not sure after that, not to mention how annoying listing to a tv playing to an empty room is. God I really need to get my own place, living with other people will never not be a chore.

Pretty sure that is not the point of this. No parent should be letting their kid put plastic over their face and failing to notice. That's how kids get killed. FFS, every plastic bag here has "danger of suffocation" on it and warnings about letting kids under 3 play with them. Does nobody read anymore?

So anyone "worthy" of being a parent needs to keep constant surveillance on their child 100% of the time, got it. After all if a kid sleeps alone in their room they might choke on their saliva or something and die, no reasonable person would ever let their full attention wander for even a second when it comes to monitoring the actions of their child.

Multi Blades: A lightweight blade with the fastest attack speed and evasion options. The Sidearm would be a magic rune tattoo that would let the blade be summoned back to you, allowing them to be thrown. It could also be used to summon additional illusionary blades to throw consecutively or allow for dual wielding. This weapon would excel in fighting ghosts and illusionary foes without magic.

Torturous Blade: A twisted blade that could transform into a sort of chainsaw. The first form being best for inflicting status ailments and the latter for for doing heavy raw damage. The two forms would have seperate movesets. The Sidearm would be a cursed stigmata wound that would let you spend HP to increase your attack and magic potency for a time, while giving mild regeneration when not in use.

Living Blade: A possessed blade that can react to incoming attacks granting the wielder chaotic but highly effective evasion options and attacks. Magic might have unforeseen beneficial or detrimental effects when cast with this blade. The Sidearm would be a dagger (a Kris specifically) that is also possessed, if an enemy is killed by it, their corpse would briefly fight alongside you as a thrall.

So which one sound like it fits in the best with the others and would also be fun to use?

So this is for a video game I've been working on so it's pretty hush-hush. That said, I've actually already decided on what to do, but it was a tough decision and I was curious if the community would make the same choice as I did in the end. That's why I decided to give you all the opportunity to look at how I work up close and personal.

Generally, in my works, I like to lean heavily on archetypes and connections, balance and contrast, that sort of thing. So for this Project the player has access to five different blade types and "sidearms" as I call them that correspond to the five main bosses, key NPCs, and also the ten main types of magic (technically nine) among other things. Keep in mind that the "Elements" aren't intrinsically tied to the weapon, but are just things and concepts I had in mind while designing. The abridged break down is something a little like this.

Boss / NPC 1: Dorothy / Prince
Elements: Quintessence/Holy/Regalia/Castles/Chains/Monad
Sword: Legendary Blade (standard one handed weapon that can be blessed by various gods if the player seeks out their Abode for different effects.
Sidearm: Legendary Shield (standard mid sized shield that can be used to block both medium physical and magical attacks, while also receiving blessing like the sword, for example specific elemental damage reduction)
Notes: A regal weapon for a heroic warrior. While not the strongest physically or magically or the most versatile, it is the most reliable and if work is put into it, potentially the most valuable.

Boss / NPC 2: Death / Revenant
Element: Water/Ice/Sorrow/Forests/Decay/North
Sword: Magic Blade (reverse wielded short sword with magic crystal pommel that lets it cast various spells like a classic wizard's staff, when buffed the length increases)
Sidearm: Magic Sleeve (magic cloth wrapped around the left arm that lets the user block light physical attacks and heavy magical attacks and summon items from inside the sleeve mid battle.
Notes: A graceful weapon that can cast powerful spells, however it is difficult to master and requires strategic use and knowledge of enemy weaknesses to unlock its full potential. Can be used in melee, but unless heavily buffed won't excel.

Boss / NPC 3: Demiurge / Intoner
Elements: Earth/No Element/Perfection/Mountains/Order/East
Sword: Ballistic Blade (mid sized Squall-esk gunblade that can be customized for different effects)
Sidearm: Hilda (a revolver that while weaker than the main weapon can automatically generate bullets and potentially give the player access to two elements at once if they customize it. Can not be used to block so defensive options are limited
Notes: A gun based weapon that gives the most freedom on how to approach battles, although a steady aim and timing are prerequisites to dealing optimal damage. Can be used in melee effectively if the player is confident enough in their dodging skills

Boss / NPC 4: Dragon / Beast
Elements: Fire/Lightning/Rage/Volcanos/Vitality/South
Sword: Greater Blade (Large Sword with two stances, one for slower but deliberate strikes and another "berserk" stance that is faster but riskier)
Sidearm: Greater Armor (Left arm armor that lets the player block heavy physical and light magical attacks, although in the 'berserk' state the armor is instead used for additional attacks
Notes: A great sword heavy enough to break guards and stagger even large foes. Has the highest melee reach and damage per hit but because it is used with one hand is relatively slow compared to the other blades, this makes casting spells with it difficult as well.

Boss / NPC 5: Devil / Witch
Elements: Air/Arcane/Illusion/Desert/Chaos/West
Sword: ...?
Sidearm: ...?

So this is it. I had the archetypes for the first four weapon types pinned down but I was having trouble with the weapon "of" the Devil and Witch. The options I came up with were:

I mean seriously almost anyone with current day knowlege (who actually worked for a living etc, built things etc), would basically become a god.

First you take the tribe/town/city of people around you and show them how to improve their lives drastically, becoming their leader. You then train them, and upgrade weapons etc, start mining for materials that you need to eventually create a small nation that is far advanced compared to everyone else.

Then you just start dominating the world, expending constantly, upgrading technology while you let your minions do most of the work, teach knew young generations advanced education, math, constantly inventing knew (old to you) things etc.

Not only would you live to an old age, you would drastically change the history of the world.

In fact you could also set things up to ensure that the world never gets to the point it's at right now, ingrain population control at an early age (restricting the number of children per family to 3), prevent damaging of the earth and use natural sources of energy right from the start (even if that is just hydro and wind initially).

You could save the world!!

People like to think stuff like this, but it's hardly realistic. The doctor who figured out washing your hands before doing open surgery reduces deadly infections was seen as a buffoon and largely ignored for many years afterwards and this happened in 1846, less than two hundred years ago. The idea that anyone would really take you seriously, or that you would even be able to manufacture anything of worth is extremely low.

Also the part of your post I bolded is a very, VERY, awful idea. People had a ton of kids because most of them died and they need the rest to work the land, nothing you could possibly do could lower the mortality rate enough to make 3 children enough to sustain the population, never mind that no one would listen to such a thing.

There actually is something pretty screwed up about spending so much time traveling just to work, for a number of reasons. My 45 minute commute was the main reason I started looking for another job, and this new one pays slightly less and has fewer hours but the extra 80 minutes a day and Saturdays off feels so nice.

Maybe I'm "privileged" because I don't have anyone else to look after or any debts or obligations or whatever so I can choose to trade away money for time... but still seems like the priorities of a lot of people I've met on the general issue of how much time is too much time to work (commuting might as well count as "work") are off.

Real talk here, how many kids do you guys honestly think actually make any money off the cards they bought/had bought for them as a kid?

Like I said, I probably had hundreds of dollars worth at one time or another but I can't tell you where a single one of them is today. I don't think I'm an outlier with that experience either. Even if a kid does keep them, how many will keep them in well enough condition to sell down the road, or will bother to do the research necessary to maximize their profits? We're probably talking less than 1% here. TCG cards aren't made or sold to be an investment, they aren't stocks or something.
