TopicHow are lootboxes any different from those overpriced TCG booster packs of yore?
Dreaming_King

Honest question as I've never bought or even so much as played a game with loot boxes in it. From what I gather though the "problem" with them seems kinda like the probably hundreds of dollars I begged for/blew my allowance on concerning Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon card packs.

Both are mystery boxes where you can get duplicates, and the "rush" of opening them to see what you got is a big part of the appeal. Isn't that what people are arguing the government should step in to regulate? Wait am I thinking of gacha games now? Never played one of those either so I don't know if that's the same there too.

I made a topic a few months ago about a piece of land I wanted to buy that was literally perfect for my atelier and dirt cheap... and then I just didn't do anything else with it.

I guess I was waiting for summer to end so I wouldn't have to maintain the plot as much, but really I was just too lazy to really do the research necessary before buying it. Went to check the page today and it looks like someone else got it.

I'd already started making plans based off the idea of staying in that part of town and everything. Unless I get incredibly lucky or the plot was taken off market for some other reason this will push my plans back like six months at least.

Next time I see something I want I'm just going to reach out my hand and take it!

There was a case in my town of a woman literally getting caught in the act of having sex with a 13 year old boy, who told police it was the fourth time she'd done it, as well as furnishings alcohol for the both of them, and she literally got away with it. Like she didn't have to spend a single day in jail or prison and didn't even get any probation. The actual molestation charges were dropped too so she isn't considered a sex offender and the one minor charge left on her record can be easily expunged in a few years.

The newspapers didn't even cover the story at all when it happened, they only wrote an article months later when she asked the court to seal the records of the case since she said her reputation was being harmed by the few people who had heard about it. The prosecutor on the case didn't even argue against the motion and it probably passed by now. Considering some guys have been given multi decade long sentences for similar cases, it really makes you think, huh?

...Dude? The article says his wife and sister told him it was a bad idea, which it was, but says nothing about what he told them his intentions were. He wasn't arrested by the firefighter either, he was held at gun point by him until the police arrived (so someone else thought it was a good idea to bring a gun to the store AND brandish it at a law abiding citizen, but that's fine I guess?). We only really have his word on his intentions and it definitely isn't the imaginary story you posted.

Walmart and the DA can think whatever they want, both them and you are simply putting forth your own interpretation of his actions as the truth. Your whole post is nothing but strange conjecture really. I'd be surprised if the charges aren't dropped soon, since the "case" is a ridiculous knee jerk reaction that clearly has no ground to stand on.

Not even going to touch that weird last part of your post.

Who said anything about random? There are several different classes of people who have a statistical highly than average likelyhood to be involved in violence... Doesn't mean they will, but why take the chance by letting them own guns? Felons are a prime example is all.

Also I'm pretty sure murder has the lowest recidivism rate of most crimes, and yet I wouldn't say they should have assess to guns. Before that I was talking specifically about nonviolent felons though, who you could say have no recidivism rate at all since they've never hurt anyone physically before.

No. Felons frequently have their rights restricted because of their felonies. That's part of the punishment.

Ahh, so there are cases when the right of an individual (like someone who has never committed a violent act, but shows they might by disregarding another of societies laws) should have lower priority than the safety of the whole. I wonder how else we could use that logic to keep people safe...

Yep, I was one of like five people actually dressed for a job interview, most people were in trashy "casual" clothes. It was pretty annoying actually seeing people so incapable of putting in even the slightest bit of effort. Good for me though.

The interview was a full one I'd say, and I did really well on it. I think before now I always got nervous because I knew my resume was awful and everything would fall on my performance during the actual interview. That wasn't the case this time so I was able to relax, and yeah the application they had me fill out basically made my resume redundant to the point I only handed it over as a formality.

I'm thinking I'm in there.

People said the exact same thing about same sex couples though, and please note that I'm not making any judgments whatsoever, when you look at the data on promiscuity... Besides I highly doubt that the general opinion up until maybe 20 years ago put polygamists far above same sex couples, if at all on the "deviant" scale. Also just because people view a group they're not familiar with in a certain light doesn't actually mean they are that way in reality.
