Except the entire Mako/Lifestream Pyreflies/Farplane thing.Both Terminator and Blade Runner got humanoid robots that looks like normal persons as an important part of the lore, and yet they are not connected. The Final Fantasy series shares so many things, items, animals, names, magic, summons, etc, why would it be impossible for some of them to share the same kind of magical system? | Foppe 12/25/19 9:04:19 AM #28 | The way I see it, the X2 Shinra is a nod to players that played the game that made the Final Fantasy series really popular all around the globe, an easter egg. The map, lore, nothing connects VII to X. One could argue that the X summoners transformed into the Cetra of VII, but that still leave too many red threads that cant be solved. Did they use their connection with the spiritual energy to create land and remove water? Why are there no legends about that in VII then? The Temple of the Ancients in VII looks pretty lowtech compared to what we see in X, why would they go backward that much? And if we use Final Fantasy X-2 Ultimania, then it says After quitting the Gullwings, Shinra received enormous financial support from Rin, and began trying to use Vegnagun to siphon Mako Energy from the Farplane. But, he is unable to complete the system for utilizing this energy in his generation, and in the future, when traveling to distant planets becomes possible, the Shin-Ra Company is founded on another world, or something like that....... That would happen about 1000 years after this story, I think. How does this even fit in the Final Fantasy VII lore? The Jenova-Cetra incident happened a little more than 2000 years before VII. 48 years before the main VII game, Shinra Manufacturing Works discovers Mako energy. Nothing in any of the games, or any other games, supports the idea that 1000 years after X2, Shinras relatives creates a spaceship, travels to the VII planet 50 or so years before the game, discovers that it got the same kind of spiritual energy, starts building Midgar and later tries to reinvent rocket technology. --- GameFAQs isn't going to be merged in with GameSpot or any other site.
