we 1-nighted eden (1 wipe to e3s, 3 wipes to e4s)

pld was still a douche the one single time i made a mistake near the end of e4s (after our mnk disconnected, my gcds got interrupted and i walked too far out and got hit by megalith trying to recover), when he made multiple mistakes leading up to that leading to me having way depleted mana for most of the fight

two vuln stacks in the first set of evil earths and i kept him alive as main tank, this is the kind of thanks i get when we're doing well

so i rerolled on jp servers and its pretty fun

took a lot of rerolling to get one of the three characters i wanted but it's worth it

There's multiple series. You can start from the beginning of any series. Atelier Rorona is the start of the Arland series (Rorona -> Totori -> Meruru > Lulua), Ayesha is start of the Dusk series (Ayesha -> Escha & Logy -> Shallie), and Sophie is start of the Mysterious series (Sophie -> Firis -> Lydie&Suelle). There's also the Iris (more traditional jRPG) and Mana (jRPG + Harry Potter but with alchemy kind of) series on the PS2.

As long as you play the remakes of the Arland series instead of the original releases, you can start wherever. The games' battle systems were kinda booty before Ayesha and they got really good around Escha&Logy. Rereleases updated the battle systems of the Arland series to match late Dusk.

Each series is set in a vastly different setting from the other. There's references to each other between them, but it seems they're all different universes (or at least VASTLY different time periods).

got titan to 2% last night after some arguments over uplift strategy

pld really pushed for a variable strat that ensures most of the time that tanks lose no gcds (orange to 3 safespots; if melee are orange, move north; if both ranged are orange, move south; if there's any discrepancy people other than orange have to move) and we agreed to try it out if melee/tank would call out if they had orange and were tanking a north spot

there has never once been a melee callout and we wiped to it for hours, and our pld (the biggest culprit for not calling shit out then laying blame on other people) kept throwing out the excuse "well my OTHER group doesnt have to call anything out and it works fine" without trying to solve the problems we were having

i should also note that two of our raid members are completely new and had just hit 70 days before shadowbringers came out (mnk+drg), another two's first raid tier was alphascape (ast+mch), two of us were long-returning players (me sch+drk; i only raid first and second coils), and only two had been keeping up with the game for years (pld+blm)

we went back to the other strategy of fixed orange positioning because he steadfastly refused to call anything out and entered phase 3 at 26% hp lol

Conan is definitely already the one anime I've watched the most of and I'm absolutely nowhere near done. I tend to stay away from long-running stuff too, but so few Conan episodes actually relate to the main plot anyways so it's not like there's hundreds of plot shifts waiting for me. It's kind of nice that way.

Good game. Better art (Ooyari Ashito is literally the only artist I know the name of because his art is so damn good; other works by him are Period and Littlewitch Romanesque) but worse gameplay imo. Rather than Sengoku Rance it feels a lot more like another Alicesoft title Daiteikoku. Which is kind of like Sengoku Rance but in space with WW2 countries. Has a partial patch that's been out for like 7 years and no more progress, rip...

Rance characters (Kenshin for sure, I feel like someone else too) cameo in it, so that's pretty cool. I think a few Eiyuu Senki characters cameo'd in something of Alicesoft's too but I can't remember what.

The show draws very obvious attention to anything that needs to be paid attention to. Conan has his insights directly after he asks questions to himself, signifying something onscreen (or at least, in his field of view, or current train of thought) in the past few seconds was linked to it. A number of schticks (like ice being used as a time-delay activation of a trick) are reused but reexplained every time.

It's so formulaic that dialogue flow alone can tell you which parts are ok to pay half attention to and what moments actually need full attention.

I watched about 120 episodes of conan in a week or two. The formula does get pretty stale the more you watch in one go. It's nice, but it just starts to feel like the entire episode is written around one weird plot twist that obfuscates normal deduction.

We haven't cleared 3s yet because the day were raiding the first time, there was a huge string of disconnects. By the time we got to 3 we only had two pulls left in us, and one of them had another disconnect. Game was buggy that night.

Our static mnk is out of town this week (he was here for 1 and 2 loot at least), so we picked up a friend to practice E3S with us. This friend managed to oneshot E4S on week 2 after clearing it week 1 so he's uhhh pretty good. Has nearly 100k health on bard too....

We saw black smokers once and consistently get to Tsunami 2, though usually don't come out of it with zero deaths. It's a pretty neat fight.

I think the dps requirement for 2s was like 71k or something so you can check from the start of the fight till where your first major deaths are each pull to get an idea about potential dps. We're like just short of it right now (we've only seen the triple mechanics like three times, but at the end of the day we were getting near it pretty consistently).

Dummies are definitely overtuned and tuned weirdly to each class, yeah. For titania, people reporting clearing it immediately after hitting 80 on dnc and it being near impossible on tanks. I still haven't unlocked it because damage parsers is still a more reliable method of gauging self progress lol.

Average DPS for dps classes was like 400-600 back in those days (I very specifically remember hitting 500~ then later 800~ DPS in turn 4, which was fight with many enemies at once, on blm and smn). These days, DPS can reach 12000 singletarget and even healers range from 4000 (average sch/ast) to 8000 (REALLY good whm). It's actually trivial lol.

Heavensward on the other hand.... doable but hard from a survival standpoint. Tankbusters hurt but you can still live through them. Got further than I'd thought on my first try with sch in ravana ex. The butterflies still died in one art of war, but the constant tankbusters around 60% eventually killed me because I was being lazy with healing myself.

Stats are roughly increasing more linearly than exponentially so we can't guaranteed solo everything two expansions back like in WoW, but at least we won't have to have stat squishes for a while.

Maybe something will change down the road, but Yoshi shouldn't have eliminated Protect, for one thing. Once I play the game again it'll be straight-up tanking or dps for me.

the defensive aspect of protect is now just baked into everyone automatically without it having to be cast. literally the only thing that changes is that you don't have to waste a gcd reapplying it when someone dies. same thing with tank stances no longer providing damage mitigation.... that damage mitigation is just baseline now.

I had to use a speedhack on 3x-4x speed to get through trails in the sky lol. I think nowadays on steam it has built-in speedup options though but GOD the animations.

Cold Steel gets better in game 2 as well, I think.

All 3 really good. Though "Legend of Heroes" is the series not a particular game. The ones we have in english are Trails in the Sky 1+2+3 and Trails of Cold Steel 1+2 (3 and 4 are confirmed). All take dozens of hours to get truly rolling but once they do the payoff is enormous.

Everything about the final dungeon and the final trial gives me chills.

Did the dungeon with trusts. As the city collapsed around the party, Ryne was like "The buildings are collapsing, we won't make it!" Thancred: "Oh, we'll make it. He wants to show us something." :(

The fact that this scene burned itself into Emet's mind so vividly he could recreate it so hellishly perfect. He's so far beyond regular grief at this point, but you can tell it still hurts him.

The final words of the trial.... "That light will split the world, and every life upon it! Our tragedy must never again come to pass!"

Just everything about Emet was perfect. His hatred of us was perfectly understandable considering we're all imperfect shades of his people. All incapable of achieving the utopia his people had already built and thrived in due to our own faults. No doubt thousands of times he had held out hope for fragmented humanity, and thousands of time he'd been let down.

First pull tanks didn't aggro one of the adds for some fucking reason, and they just sat there while one of the adds killed everyone else.

One of the three adds can't be tanked, I think. Maybe they just picked the wrong 2 to pick up.
