I've not read the books at all and stopped watching the show when we started burning children for shock value. But I remember this conversation happening somewhere in this show.

Found it. Episode 8. Even I'm remembering a bit of this incorrectly.

I dont think youre following me here. Yes, I know they discussed it in season 1. I mentioned that earlier.

What Im criticizing is that the reveal about the truth of those events was completely left out. Tysha is one of Tyrions driving motivations in the novels. In the show its brought up one time and then promptly dropped.

This was a long time coming. The show just didnt handle it well. Danys actions in the book arent portrayed as heroic, shes an entitled little pomp that has visions of greatness and grandeur and tries to justify completely fucking up a culture as justice. . .

And the whole savior plot is completely misguided, which is one of the shows bigger failings. Shes no different than every other tyrant trying to impose their will on a people. . .

No doubt that the book portrays Dany as a child with a big head. She makes a lot of mistakes and ultimately does follow in the path of her brother. But yes, the point everyone is making is that the show handled that moment very poorly. Deciding first and foremost to roast civilians when the enemy has already surrendered makes zero sense. Remember that, up until that moment, Dany was supposed to be sane enough to have people rally behind her: like Jon, Davos, and Tyrion.

Stop and think for a moment though what imposing your will on a people means. It means, as I mentioned before, burning the noble families who don't swear allegiance. Going on a murder rampage against peasant children is NOT going to accomplish her driving goal of becoming a ruler. It makes her a mad dog. She's basically Ramsay at this point.

But it's still beyond stupid that the moment she flips that switch and goes straight for killing civilians is when they surrender... When they give up... That's the 'trigger'. Apparently the entire populace not dropping to their knees immediately after surrendering, with zero communication, is supposed to be treated the same as the Tarly family openly defying her potential rule. That's a poor way to handle things. It certainly explains why many of the cast members of the show have [slightly] veiled venom about the final season.

It's beyond stupid.

Yet people are defending it.

I find it hilarious watching the actors fumble through interviews. Just watch Peter Dinklage. Hes paid a huge amount of money to be on this show and even he cant convincingly say season 8 is good.

These people are paid to be on and promote the show and even theyre not defending it as hard as some of the people on this board.

V3 is amazing, the most fun of all three games, and characters are so much better compared to 2. I tried watching anime after V3, but didn't like it

The reason I was so disappointed was that I expected V3 to wrap up the story from 1, 2, and UDG. I didnt realize the anime pretty much did that instead. Hell, I even held off on the anime solely because I thought it would spoil V3.

I did love the characters though. However, I fucking hated the ending.

I loved the ending lol it was literally one of the best endings i ever encountered in games, really made me put down my Vita for a few minutes, thats how impressed I was.
Its 3>1>2 for me

The ending is the most love it or hate it ending Ive ever seen. I dont think theres any middle ground. Youre either all for it or vehemently against it.

I was the latter.

In the novel Tyrion learned the truth about his wife, Tysha, and how she genuinely loved him. Tywin had lied to him, saying that Tysha was a whore Jaime had hired to teach Tyrion a lesson. Tywin had his men then take turns fucking Tysha while Tyrion watched, making Tyrion go last.

The story about her being a whore was a lie. Tysha actually loved Tyrion, and Tywin fabricated the story about her being a whore because he couldnt stand the idea of someone loving Tyrion and him being happy. This revelation is what pushed Tyrion over the edge.

In the show he was just mad because Tywin sentenced him for Joffreys death. They dropped the Tysha plot entirely despite setting it up in an earlier episode.

I think defenders of the Mad Queen scene are misunderstanding what people are mad about. I dont think anyone here is upset she went mad. Thats heavily foreshadowed in the novels and at least serviceably foreshadowed in the show. Like, I totally accept that this was always meant to happen and will most likely happen in Georges version as well.

The problem thats got people in a tizzy is that the execution was fucking horrendous.

Yes Daenerys has had violent impulses, but she has a big heart which is what keeps her in check. Remember when Drogon burned a single peasant child and Dany was so mortified by it that she locked up the remaining two dragons, her children, out of guilt? She has never enjoyed hurting people. Shes a queen of the people. Thats her character. Whenever she has forced her hand in the past it was justified.

Im ok with her losing her shit, but it happened way too fast.

Why didn't they just keep Rhaegal alive, everything plays out the same, bells ring, Dany accepts the surrender, then Cersei fires a cheap shot scorpion and kill Rhaegal then? At least then I can kind of see why she is mad. It is like they are trying to write this as horrible as possible.

This would have made perfect sense and would have been totally in character for Cersei to do.
