The perspective I keep is that while it might not look like much on a macro level, people any sort of great societal change begins with stuff like this.

It's not about making a grand gesture, it's about nudging and getting everyone on board with stuff like this. Changing attitudes.

I will also say that bigger corporations and polluters have definitely come under a lot more scrutiny for the kinda shit they pull, particularly in the last few years. You'll get a story about some heartless megacorp trying to take some green step. It may be fairly pointless but it plays into the thing I said about changing attitudes. I'd take the fact that nations and corporations feel the need to at least try to attempt to be more green as a bit of a victory.

It's not about going after the little guy, but change has always come from the bottom up. Change individuals minds and everything works its way up.

I would also say the solution to enforcing rules on big polluters is to actually elect people who believe in a functioning environmental regulatory agency, as well.

It's a bitter pill to swallow, but the reality is the new legislation is a nice gesture, yet ultimately pointless. Keep in mind that a lot of us don't have a problem with recycling, using reusable bags, and so on. But we can still be honest with ourselves about the situation
Iunno this whole nihilistic and defeatist "nothing we do matters" attitude is a little childish imo

What's wrong with paper bags again?

Reusable bags eventually "go bad" because of all the disgusting bacteria that you eventually can't clean out, and last I saw they aren't biodegradable.
I mean neither are regular non-reusable bags. At the very least you use these ones many many times more than you would a regular plastic bag

Also, disgusting bacteria? Unless shit breaks or spills everywhere in there I'm not sure how this happens to ya.

New Hope would receive the treatment Avatar did when it came out (It's just x in space)

Empire Strikes Back would probably be received as it was back then. It was somewhat polarizing at the time.

Return of the Jedi would be panned in this day and age of hyperfocused "video essay" critiques. Imagine someone in this sort of online culture watching Jabba's Palace and most of the Endor stuff.
