To the point where there were some people complaining that Dan was the victim of a smear campaign that could ruin his life and career, all because of the girls lying.
Yeah not disagreeing with you that anyone who tried to push this narrative is a fucking shithead, especially since the episode literally showed footage of Dan doing what he was accused of as it was narrated.

The reunion won't be live by the way. It's being taped four hours earlier than usual. Dalton Ross reported it during the episode tonight.
#TheEndIsNear But seriously before this season Survivor was looking at going to S50 and beyond. If it ends in the next couple years I think it's safe to say that this will go down as the season that killed Survivor.

It's not crazy if you follow the trend. Beginning with Worlds Apart, Survivor has been on a downward spiral and David vs. Goliath was the outlier, not the beacon of hope. Frankly even before this plunge I'm surprised they never had a player so uncontrollable and that the players adamantly refused to take care of themselves that they had to intervene.

Missy/Elizabeth/Kellee/Lauren all took a fuckton of shit for the merge episode.
Not to mitigate the fact that Dan didn't get enough shit, but Missy and Elizabeth deserved the shit they got. Aaron too. I don't remember Lauren getting shit for that episode (if she did she didn't deserve it) and you're way off base with Kellee, I think she got mostly love and support.

So a few things we can take away from that moment...

One, no Dan at the reunion.

Two, at least they basically gave him the shaft in his final episode, making him UTR and then cutting him at the end of the episode rather than at the beginning of the finale and giving him that dignity.

Three, I'm willing to be that they were already anticipating the possibility of Dan getting ejected and that's why Jack is on the jury.

I don't see any future in which this season is looked fondly upon. It will not be vindicated by history, people will not go "at least we had Noura/Jamal/Janet/Rob/Sandra." It will stay in the garbage tier.

I think Regina may be the worst female character in the series. Most of my bottom tier are the pompous asses (Wellington, Stickler) and annoying eyesores (Jean, Sal), but I think Regina is the only female I'd throw into that group. Granted I still need to replay the rest of 4, AAI, and some of 5 as well as AAI2, the rest of 5, 6, and DGS for the first time.

I struggle to decide which is the worst case ever between that and 2-3.
2-3 isn't the trash case some people claim it to be. It's not good, but it's mostly tolerable. Trilo is pretty funny and Moe is genuinely likable. It has it's problems for sure, like penalties for pressing (although some of them do make me chuckle and I'll occasionally provoke Moe in purpose) and the villain is pretty weak, and Regina is a shit character.

3-3 is the only case I have ever actually gotten angry at.It has ugly, hard-to-understand characters. An absurd set-up with the phony Phoenix that a two year old could have seen through. Errand-running at its worst. A whole bunch of wasted time going through stupid shit like the mirror, which was just completely dumb on so many levels. Getting pelted by bird seed. Penalties for pressing. Gumshoe, usually a great character, at an all-time low. It's a dumpster fire of a case whose only redeeming qualities are Viola and the pretty great way Phoenix traps Tigre. And I guess the admittedly catchy Tres Bien theme. But those aren't enough to save it.

I'm on this case right now in my replay of the series. I can't imagine it being worse than 4-2, which is complete shit until the final trial day, or 3-3, which I've already gone on at length about my grievances with.

4 is just not a good game in general though. Thank God for Klavier.

TAR12 rewatched. I'm glad I have some other stuff to watch right now because I'm feeling the fatigue. This season was a chore to finish and I liked it. And I know that I have some really rough ones still to come so...

TK & Rachel were one of my favorite teams of all time when I originally watched the series. I have no idea how. While I don't outright hate them, there were moments where they were incredibly tough to watch and I now get the hate that they get on Sucks.

Ronald & Christina were one of my least-favorite teams of all time when I originally watched the series. They were mostly as I remembered them but my opinions have changed enough in 10 years for me to appreciate them and this time they were my favorite team of the season.

As a person, Dan Spilo no question. As a Survivor character, Foley was more of a drain on the season as a whole but didn't have a single episode as bad as Spilo in that double so it's tough. Both are bottom 5 of all time.

So I've been working on a thing, something that came to my mind at work today, and since I have such a mindless job I have a lot of time to think at work, and came up with this. I have divided the Survivor winners into 7 types, and even included which type 6 or the 7 remaining IoI players would fall under should they win. I'm not sure if there is a Peridiam video on this subject. If there is I haven't seen it, and it could definitely lead to some interesting discussion between us on the topic. I'm not set in stone on any of this. It's kind of my preliminary piecing together of the puzzle and I'm open to feedback. In addition to including which winners I have placed in each type, I threw in some "arguable" inclusions - those that I feel could be argued to fit into that type but I thought they fit better elsewhere.

The Golden Boy
The fit, good-looking, likable guy who is perceived as an all-around player. He charms his way through the game and sometimes other players will even seem to be playing for him to win. Even if his game has some glaring flaws, he can talk and smile his way out of them at the FTC.

Winners of this type: Ethan, Tom, Aras, J.T., Jeremy, Wendell, Nick (arguable: Tyson, Mike, Ben, Chris U)

If Dean wins this season, he will fall under this type.

The Passenger-Seat Driver
The second-in-command of a dominant alliance who sees themselves as working with the leader, not under them. They are actively involved in the decision-making and even come up with some plans themselves. They always maintain one hand near the wheel and at the last second they grab hold and steer the game in their direction.

Winners of this type: Tina, Amber, Natalie W, Sophie, Denise (arguable: Wendell)

If Lauren wins this season, she will fall under this type.

The Free Spirit
The person who wins the game simply by being themselves. They are generally written off as a non-threat early on but as the numbers dwindle, their likability makes them a major jury threat. They are not very strategic, and may even argue that not having a strategy was their strategy. Fans generally see this as the least-conventional way to win the game.

Winners of this type: Vecepia, Bob, Fabio (arguable: Natalie W)

If Noura wins this season, she will fall under this type.

The Iron Fist
The authoritarian ruler of the game who micromanages every move and maintains a stranglehold over their alliance. They aggressively ensure that everything that happens in the game serves their best interest and are not afraid to let everyone know they are in charge.

Winners of this type: Parvati, Rob, Tyson, Tony (arguable: Richard, Brian, Earl, Kim)

There is no would-be Iron Fist left in this season.

The Stealth Assassin
This is the under-the-radar player who makes few moves but makes them count. They don't like attention being brought to them and their game and prefers to make a devastating move when their victim least expects it rather than a series of moves that add up to an impressive resume. Their mantra is "as long as it's not me."

Winners of this type: Sandra, Danni (arguable: Vecepia, Michele)

If Elaine wins this season, she will fall under this type.

The Mastermind
By far the most common winner type. This is the intellectual player who pulls the strings in the game, but does so in a quieter manner than the Iron Fist. It's very clear to the audience that they are calling the shots, but perhaps less obvious to the other players. Many fans consider this the "standard" way to win Survivor, and all of these winners frequently rank high on lists of the best winners.

Winners of this type: Richard, Brian, Yul, Earl, Todd, Kim, Cochran, Natalie A, Sarah (arguable: Parvati, Jeremy)

If Tommy wins this season, he will fall under this type.

The Comeback Kid
The player who finds themselves stuck in a deep social and/or strategic hole later in the game (often one dug with their own shovel) that appears at first to render them with no viable path to the finals. However, they either find a crack in the status quo that allows them to get back into the thick of it, or tenaciously fight their way to the end as an underdog. This type has become extremely common in recent seasons due to the plethora of twists and format changes allowing such comebacks to happen, and seems to have become one of the producers' favorite winner narratives.

Winners of this type: Jenna, Chris D, Mike, Michele, Adam, Ben, Chirs U (arguable: Danni, Fabio, Nick)

If Janet wins this season, she will fall under this type.

So obviously the one person left from this season that I didn't put into a type is Dan, mainly because I can't fit him into one, and frankly the thought of him winning seems so far fetched and would be the biggest anomaly in Survivor history that it isn't worth racking my brain around it.

What do you guys think? Like I said, I'm not set in stone on any of this, and am open to feedback and discussion.
