Theresa says that she and her husband had moved to Yokosuka after he had been stationed at the nearby Navy base. Upon moving into their new neighborhood, they set about delivering beer and chocolate to each of their neighborsincluding a man named Hiroshi Yamashita.

A few hours later, Yamashita visited the American familys home and presented them with toilet paper, stuffed animals for their daughter, and a note.

The note read I cant speak English. Thank you for the present. My name is Hiroshi Yamashita. Im 52 years old. [Im divorced] and I live alone.

Though the rest of the letter had some translation letters, Theresa inferred that the man was asking whether her husband was in the Navy and expressing his hope that the family would appreciate the toilet paper and toys.

At the end of the note, Yamashita said: Thank you for your friend operation.

hough he may have been thanking the family for their gesture of friendship, other internet users assume that he was referring to Operation Friendship, which was the United States response to the 2011 earthquake in Japan.

Needless to say, Theresa and her husband were in awe of the heartfelt note.

It was adorable! We had brought him a six pack and some chocolate and tried to introduce ourselves to him, wrote Theresa. A couple hours later he brought over this letter with a pack of toilet paper and some stuffed animals for our daughter.

Yamashita wrote this note himself with some help from a translate app. His mom dated an American Sailor when Yamashita was a child so he knew a small amount of English.

We were so impressed with his handwriting and we were totally not expecting a letter or a gift in return. Our introduction to him was a mix of Japanese words and pointing to Google Translate on our phone all while trying to hand him our gifts.

With several thousand Reddit users vying for an update on Theresas new friendship with her neighbor, she later published a photo of her daughter enjoying her new toysall courtesy of Yamashita.

[Yamashita] will be getting more presents, she added. We never expected anyone to be so nice back to us. Yamashita was a great neighbor! We did have daily morning chats, she mused. I had four elderly male neighbors who were all so sweet. We all exchanged gifts and food regularly for the four years I lived there. We would go to neighborhood festivals and have dinners together as well. I miss them all and think about them often.

In short, Theresa says that they did indeed end up sharing a wonderful friend operation of their own.

She comes back in CV and REV2 as the user said.

But there actually is a reason she doesn't come back much. In universe the plot is people like Leon and Chris become full time special forces agents fighting zombies and shit.

Claire gets involved more politically, trying to make governments aware of the zombie/bio weapon problem and forms a nurse task force to help deal with outbreaks

Exactly. So if you say "You should be suspended for this and lose your job/education because a mob is mad at you!"

How do you then justify it when the mob is mad at something else?

Besides "Well I don't agree with that mob."

I think being angry at the university here is silly. I feel bad for them.

Never become comfortable with mob mentality just because you're in the mob. That way madness lies. "Lots of people are angry" doesn't mean anything pragmatically.

but anyone with a brain can see that "being gay" and "showing up to protest a racially charged memorial with guns" aren't the same thing...

Not in the slighest and you know that full well. Stop doing insane strawmans because you have no argument.

My point was that "We're mad about this" isn't a justification for "consequences." that's mob mentality.

Sure it's satisifying when the people you're mad at face them, but that doesn't make it okay.

There's nothing hypocritical about wanting consequences for these folks and not for gay people, because the circumstances are context are different.

I'm attacking mob mentality, not hypocrisy.

if they went to a memorial with guns then them being gay would have nothing to do with it.

A woman who has footballs land in her garden "constantly" has lost her patience and donated them to charity.

Anny Kilbourne has lived at her home in Exeter for 12 years with a garden backing on to the local playing fields. She had become used to finding amateur footballers intruding on her property to retrieve their lost balls after mistakingly kicking them over the fence.

Anny believed youth football team Exeter Panthers were the culprits and she approached team supervisor Chris Leisk for an apology. But she claims she did not receive one, so she decided to confiscate the balls and give them away

But things escalated further when the matter was reported to police as theft - and Anny says she has been ordered by officers to pay 26 to replace them.

She says she has been told by police she will be interviewed and the matter could end up in court if she does not cough up.

Anny said: I'm an old woman who has always had a deep-seated respect for the police and the job they do, but now I find myself being harassed by them, in a situation in which I believe they shouldn't even be involved.

For 12 years Ive lived in Bettys Mead and I've constantly had footballs kicked onto my property. They are often followed by trespassing to recover them. The former has caused damage, the latter more, to a total of over 1,000."

Anne claims the Exeter Panthers ball struck her in the face and players didn't apologise

She recounted how she was in April hit in the face by a ball, the second in the same match. Anny says she refused to hand the footballs back, as she could see the club had others they could use to continue their game.

She continued: Naturally, I had no intention of keeping the football so I later donated them to a charity shop.

The matter was reported as a theft by the football club to the police and Anny claims that since then she has since been "hounded" by police through personal visits, emails and phone calls.

Anny said: Surely the civilised line is to stop trying to get money from me - the victim - and for all parties to sit down and work, with mutual respect, on a way to prevent this situation re-occurring?"

This year Exeter City Council erected a sign on the field asking users not to trespass on neighbouring properties to recover balls.

Team supervisor Mr Leisk, who is a police officer, said earlier this year a local resident approached the chairman after two balls had gone into her garden.

He said: "Our chairman was very apologetic about the situation and offered to provide the resident with all the relevant details of the insurance policies so that she could claim for any damage that had occurred.

The resident declined this stating there was no damage and at no point was an injury mentioned. The club is now aware the resident has disposed of them prior to the police speaking to her.

The police have asked the club's views on any form of action they may take and the club have confirmed they feel that it is only right for the resident to compensate the club for the 26 for the cost of the balls.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: While officers met with Ms Kilbourne, she raised concerns in relation to previous anti-social behaviour going back years linked to footballs being kicked into her garden and damaging her property; at no time previously had Ms Kilbourne been in touch with the police in relation to these matters.

"Ms Kilbourne has since refused to engage with police on this matter, despite numerous attempts to reach out to her and to find a solution.'

You're being crude on a serious subject.

If someone wants to die who are you to tell them against their will that they have to live in pain, agony and suffering? Soley because you demand it?

I'm for euthanasia. That doesn't mean I think it is okay to be cruel or selfish to others.

You're telling me you don't see a difference between someone filling an organ doner card and hanging themselves vs someone going into a classroom and shooting themselves in front of kids?

If anything the inconsistent view is "You have no control over your life and have to suffer in agony but I dont care if you truamatize or harras thousands of people." what kind of logic is that?

Quick and easy way to end it. Almost always successful as well. Not surprising that jumping in front of a train is a popular form of suicide. My uncle is a subway operator and bus driver for the TTC in Toronto. He had 2 people kill themselves by jumping in front of his train and 1 by jumping in front of his bus in the nearly 30 years he's been working there.

The thing is, if you kill yourself via a train you hinder thousands of people and possible traumatize a bunch more

It's pretty selfish

Well suicides ln general are considered as such

Ultimately it's up to you if you want to live or not.

But there is a difference between killing yourself in a peaceful way that only effects your direct family and potentially doctors/cops and killing yourself in a way that negatively affects thousands of people.

A man was killed after he jumped off a station platform and was hit by an oncoming train on Thursday. The impact flung him back onto the platform where he slammed into two commuters.

According to police, the incident occurred just after 4 p.m. at Sobudai-mae Station in Zama on the Odakyu line. Police said station surveillance camera footage showed the man jump off the platform in front of the Romance Car which was traveling at a speed of about 90 kilometers per hour at the time. The collision shattered the glass window of the observation car.

The man was sent flying back onto the platform where he hit two men, slightly injuring them. One male passenger on the train sustained a light injury.

Police did not release the mans name and said only that he was 25 and unemployed.

The train was on its way from Hakone-Yumoto to Shinjuku Station. Odakyu Electric Railway said the incident caused a 75-minute delay in train services that affected about 21,000 people.

Another fanservicey change is that in the original you find a letter from Chris in the police station openly talking about taking down Umbrella in Europe.

A lot of people made fun of it for the fact Chris knows that Umbrella ultimately runs the RCPD yet he openly leaves these letters lying around

So in this version they turned it into a letter about Chris being "On Holiday In Europe" as at least some kind of cover.
