holy crap, i might have to check that out. i lost interest in Arena tbh. but not because of anything with Arena specifically, i just don't like how the last handful of MTG sets have turned out.

I dunno if they delisted Duels in the shop, but now that all cards are available or something, if you wanna do multiplayer/2HG, I'd be down for it. I love running green Elemental Bond decks.

good answer. i was pretty pissed about this for a long time too.

I stopped playing Duels last year, but have been playing a bit again, just to get some MTG in my life. All the cards are unlocked now and coins have been removed, so it's pretty easy to get into for people who want MTG to look like MTG (a.k.a. not Arena squares).

Wizards of the Coast cancelled Hour of Devastation for Magic Duels unceremoniously and abruptly, right in the middle of the block, a week or two before launch. I'll never forget that rage, that seething, that wall-punching insult to the faithful fans.

One tip is that there are many treasure chests hidden around the world that give you free recipes (among other things). I know there are some in White Orchard, often submerged, that you can find with thorough exploration. It's a good way to accumulate those suckers without putting in too much effort. A few other things:

• Blacksmith repair fees can take a lot of cash, so I would prefer to walk around with broken stuff (stat penalties) or repair it myself. I forget what the items are called, but you can buy 'em from blacksmiths to save some dough. As said, equipment gets outclassed easily, so just use a sword until it turns to crap, then switch to the next marginally better upgrade.
• There are a few times in the game where a "point of no return" fails several quests at once. The game should tell you when these are, but just in case, make sure to have backup saves.
• Quests have level recommendations that you can follow or ignore -- sometimes they can be soldiered through. However, if you get too high above a recommended level, the XP gains give diminishing returns. Most XP you get is from finishing quests, including main quests, so power-levelling should be done carefully.
• There's NG+ mode, but it only works with default (non-NG+) saves. This means you can't use a NG+ save to start another NG+ game. Equipment you carry over into a NG+ also gets quickly outclassed, so I don't recommend saving much besides witcher equipment.

Oh, and the second area you visit is about 100 times bigger than the tutorial area, so don't get too overwhelmed. Some areas, like the NE region, have way tougher monsters and aren't meant for Geralt of Noobia to prance into.
