If youre hopeful for how Xbox will be this gen, you could show it a little differently lol

I interpreted this topic as some variation of hurr guess there isnt much of a difference in multiplatform games, better just get a PS5/gaming PC then!, which Im sure isnt an unpopular opinion at the moment

Darmik posted...
It's too early to tell.

Exactly. Ubi will Ubi and this is par for the course for them. You forget that AC4 also was a cross-gen that still did 30 FPS across all platforms? Just relax a little lol

Im more curious as to what the Series X port of Siege will be like. The game is already pushing limits with its engine on current platforms as-is.

Jesus Christ dude what are you even arguing at this point? You're arguing against things I'm not even saying.

Im not in some manic state. Its apparent youre disappointed in the Series X as a whole over a single fucking game that legitimately chose to cut the FPS for creative reasons and you believe that this is a sign of things to come for just about all third-party games coming to the Series X. Please let me know if any of that isnt true.

I mentioned that some games are not just shooting for 60 FPS, but 120 FPS standard and that Valhalla is currently the rule and not the exception here, thats all.

Rian still wrote TLJ as some sort of open-ended interpretation where the viewers imagination is supposed to make up for the actual reality that the next movie was supposed to cover, especially with that kid/broom scene.

JJs biggest sin in the story was all of his mystery box questions he wanted answered in the next/3rd movie. Anakins lightsaber had to be freaking explained in an encyclopedia book for fucks sake lol

My message is 60fps is better than 30fps. Xbox is focusing on this and it would be a shame if third party developers continue to not bother with it. Really isn't hard to understand. Responsive games automatically play and feel better than games where individual blades of grass have shadows or the eyeballs correctly reflect the environment.

And what Im trying to tell you is that Ubisoft =/= all developers. Hell, several developers are shooting for 120 FPS in their games with the Series X. Idk why you took one cross-gen, multi platform game as an indicator of things to come.

"We could be running at 100 fps if it was just graphics, but because of AI, we're still limited to 30 frames per second," -Ubisoft back in 2014 discussing AC Unity on XB1/PS4

Okay. And that's why most games on console will continue to be 30fps. Which is disappointing.

Oh look, your ulterior message.

Look, Darmik. Nobody is gonna build a gaming PC just because Assassins Creed Valhalla runs at 30FPS, and if they do, chances are they werent really that interested to begin with.

The Series X still looks better than the PS5, and thats ultimately what developers will be noticing as they program for both consoles.

There are two types of people who interpret this story.

  1. Those who valued the world building of TLOU1, enjoyed the ambitious ending and bleak nature of the world, and bought the second game with hopes of either expanding on Ellie and Joels relationship+ returning characters, or at the very least wish to see more of what they liked in the first game.
  2. Gaming voyeurs like the TC. Theyre quick to see the director as some sort of auteur whether or not they actually deserved that title. Emotions equal power, no matter how varied or inconsistent they are.
This explains it in greater detail, but let me pick my favorite part from it right away.

https://tinyurl.com/y9c56qdp

* Who is Ellie, Joel, Tommy, etc.?

* Voyeuristic (They are how the game presents them in TLOU2 as I watch the story unfold): I hated Ellie, I enjoyed playing Abby and beating Ellie, because she was such a b\*tch. I would not want to play as Ellie or Joel again, they are bad people. Abby is such a great and complex character.

* Immersion (They are how they were presented in TLOU1, as I follow them in their growth): I hated that the game makes Ellie look bad, makes Joel stupid, just to prop up Abby. What is this bullsh\*t, my immersion is breaking so hard I can see the hand of Anita holding Neil and pummeling him from behind. Abby is presented as great by making everyone else sh\*t.

* What is the goal of the game?

* Voyeuristic (To see the story unfold in a post apocalypse): The ending is not too dark, it is Mature rated, and people are butt-hurt that characters die? The setting is post apocalypse, dark things happen. It was a good and unexpected twist, made me feel different emotions.

* Immersion (It is a story of a father doing anything to save his daughter): The ending was shit, it invalidated most if not all character growth from TLOU1 and Joel and Ellie both act completely out of character, the tone and goal of the game is destroyed. This game and this ending sucks.

* How did you feel when Abby killed Joel?

* Voyeuristic (Surprised, but intrigued in this development, this is an interesting twist I am watching): What an interesting turn of events! And now I get to play as Abby and see her side of the story, how great and innovative! I can now flex my intellectualism and think about all the interesting emotions the game made me feel and contemplate philosophy.

* Immersion (**PISSED BEYOND BELIEF**, Joel and Ellie are the main characters I identify with): WTF!? How can you just kill of the main characters without having a them go through an emotional arc or fulfilling their role? What is the point of this change? And now we play as Abby? WHO CARES ABOUT ABBY WE ARE NOT HERE TO SEE ABBY AND YOU KNEW, OR ELSE WHY IS THE CHARACTERS ON THE BOX STILL JOEL AND ELLIE! Who made this sh\*tty story?

It is a series that benefits from 60fps btw. They play great on higher framerates on PC.

Oh, Im sure just about every game could benefit from a higher frame rate. But thats not the same as wanting to keep a game at a STABLE frame rate. Origins and Odyssey already can reach 4K/30FPS. Im sure the idea is to keep things as familiar as possible for the devs for this entry.

The main benefits to a game from frame rate, namely fluidity, are SUPER important for multiplayer games like fighters and FPS titles. For a third person single player game, this isn't true, and if the designers decide "more foliage, rays, physics, in game population, and on screen effects > more fluid animations," that's actually a valid call. Less so for resolution, unless the devs are putting in ultra fine details.

Its nothing more than Ubisofts decision to aim for good visuals over a potentially variable frame rate or resolution. AC isnt exactly a game that would benefit majorly from 60FPS and Im sure Ubi knows most people wouldnt care either way.

it's weird how many assumptions you're making to discredit the views of others.

am I saying that your views, or my views, or anyone else's views have to align with them? no. I feel that what anyone feels about a product is valid, even if it's contrary to how most people might feel, but I put more merit in those who have experienced that product more than those who haven't.

Reviews are ammo. Not say you're specifically doing this, but all these reviews have done is persuade the game's defenders (who were probably gonna buy the game regardless of the scores) that all the people who were turned off by the leaks were apparently wrong and should not be listened to.

I got the Platinum trophy for the first game. Why WOULDN'T I want to get this game unless it was an absolute abomination of a story, which it is?

Personally I think it'll be funnier to see how people react to the second half all on their own; people can have their 10/10 scores, so long as I'm not obligated to admit being "wrong" about them. I already knew nothing would stop this game from being critically acclaimed by at least a few reviewers.

they're omitting most of the first half, as well

and just because they're not going over details due to NDAs, or whatever you call them, it doesn't mean that their scores aren't genuine.

It kinda does. I haven't read many of those reviews but unless they specifically mention completing the game in any of them, for all we know they could have been legitimately thinking the game was 10/10 in the first few hours (although idk how that's still even possible), but the second part could've easily changed that vibe.

It's like how so many reviewers gave MGS5 a 10/10 and for all we know most of them only finished the first few chapters, and I'm sure almost none of them got to "Chapter 2".

it didn't affect Skillup's review, Kotaku's, etc., who all had issues with the game.

According to the police report, 2 officers tried placing Rayshard Brooks under arrest -- after they say he failed field sobriety testing. In the video, you can see the officers wrestling with Rayshard on the ground for nearly 30 seconds.

When Rayshard stood up, cops say he had taken a taser from one of the officers -- the other cop opened fire with his taser, and Rayshard started running away. Both cops started chasing him from behind ... and within seconds 3 shots were fired at Rayhsard.
