I tried to enjoy Supernatural, but a specific episode in Season 5 ("Twilight of the Gods") turned me off to it permanently. Just ... really didn't like where they went with that.

Radiant Historia is one of the best RPGs I have played. I like to think of it as the real sequel to Chrono Trigger.

Radiata Stories is a half-assed 'big cast' RPG (e.g. Suikoden) that the Star Ocean people made between failed Star Ocean games. ... IMO.

Magna Carta and its sequel both came out at a time of market saturation for JRPGs (despite being KRPGs), so I'm surprised anybody remembers that they exist. The timing-based battles are a little frustrating, but Legend of Dragoon helped me prep for that, at least a little bit.

I was kind of a cyberpunk fan for a while myself so the general concept interested me. Of course, in many games -- including Shadowrun -- there are always limits placed on how much you can upgrade. Usually they never let you extensively upgrade, let alone get to the level of a nearly-full prosthetic body (a la Motoko Kusanagi).

This is going to earn me another raspberry from PO, but going full cyborg is one reason to play Rifts.

I really liked Magna Carta, but I... no, wait, I think I'm thinking of something else whose name sounds familiar. The one I'm thinking of is a RPG that kinda has CCG aspects.

You might be thinking of Kartia, if not Culdcept or Lost Kingdoms.

Lots of good choices in this thread, but my pick is the original Shining Force. One of the easiest tactics-based RPGs to pick up and play, and I still go back to it every so often to see which underrated units I can build.

Compared to the 3DO, that ain't nothin'.

Then again, I got my Saturn secondhand with ten games for $35 U.S. on E-Bay in 2002.

While it does make me feel a bit warm and fuzzy to read people talking about L5R, my experience with it is limited to the D&D 3rd Edition Oriental Adventures version of that universe. Still had fun playing a character in that world.

The history of Sega consoles is full of consoles that got different receptions in different parts of the world. There are multiple versions of the Master System, for example, because it was extremely popular in Latin America and kept selling there long after it was done in other regions.

As for myself, I still love (and play) my Saturn and Dreamcast, as well as my Genesis (and Sega CD / 32X, though I have my doubts as to how long that drive is going to last).

Ooo, I can answer this one, since I play both series (including Cross Rays on my DS).

The SD Gundam G Generation franchise -- and it is a franchise, almost as big as SRW in terms of the number of games -- is, at its most basic level, Super Robot Wars featuring only Gundam units, but the customization, deployment, game play, etc. is different. Hard to explain without being overly technical. I find that G Gen is a step above SRW in terms of map design and unit variety, but it lacks any overarching story because it tends not to deviate from the story of the individual Gundam series that make up its level selection. It also tends to be a lot harder, with a much steeper difficulty curve unless you are playing one of the newer titles (e.g. G Gen Genesis, available on PS4 with English subs).

Reaffirming that I am the anti-PO, or that PO is the anti-me. Nothing wrong with that, of course.

Related to the above: I like Tales of Symphonia, but I acknowledge that it is derivative of many different games before it (e.g. Final Fantasy X ... and Grandia II ... and Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete ... and ultimately Breath of Fire II).

Original FF7 is do-able in twenty-five hours without missing any story content, in my experience. The remake took me thirty-three hours, and I only missed one side quest. Worth the money, IMO.
