Did a 11x400m workout (meant to do 10 and lost count) with 60 seconds between each rep. Started at 89 seconds and worked down to 82.

I probably have a sub-6 mile in me. I'm going to timetrial this next week.

haven't updated in a few days

ran a 20:51 5k on Sunday, this was a lot slower than I expected (Ran 20:57 before Quarantine Started) but realistically I have run only 5 sub-7 miles all month, and 3 of them were in that 5k. i definitely need some speed work, like 400m repeats on the track. thinking to try this out tomorrow.

indoor bike trainer is super cool, I've put in 24 miles on it so far. Running is still my priority, but I could see myself getting addicted to this otherwise. I get all sorts of numbers like this power chart:

i was able to hit 31 miles last week. aiming for 30ish again this week.

i think i will cap mileage at 40. that should be more than enough for me to beat my 20 min 5k goal.

tbh i wouldn't be surprised if i could do it now, but i've been staying away from the parks. i have no idea where to run 3.1 miles without interruption...

i may literally wait until nyrr open run comes back

my prediction is they wont open up everything at once. they'll start letting more people go back to work in may. people who have wfh capability will continue to wfh. restaurants, bars will remain closed. large gatherings and events still forbidden.

i honestly do not think we will get an "all clear" until the end of summer when we have the antibody testing that proves everyone had it already, or if we cure the whole thing.

have had a few days of no knee pain, but i can tell there is some weakness and that it could come back if i'm not careful. experimenting with 2 runs per day, and seeing if my knee likes this more than 7+ miles all at once.

5mi @ 7:30
2.5mi @ 9:24

one immediate advantage i notice about doubling is that i can mentally compartmentalize the day better. like pre-injury if i wanted to do a 7 mile day with a 5 mile tempo, i would end up hammering the 2 easy miles anyway.

this should be a good way to up my mileage without hurting myself because i'm too stupid to run an hour without hurting myself.

totally expected it since i came back with such a hard effort, but the knee pain is back at a 2/5 while running. on the bright side i dont feel anything at all while walking, even down stairs. so i do seem to be improving even though I keep making bad decisions.

NotYou posted...
I was right there with you a couple weeks ago. Last real run was on the 14th, and for a couple days after that it was very painful. My work requires me to go up and down stairs 10-15 times a day. Ouch. The next ~10 days there was a persistent dull ache, only when I exerted it. It's been better the past couple days, and I've started walking again. Even some very light jogging for 3 minutes today. I notice the discomfort is reduced when I focus on relaxing my feet while I run. I have a tendency to hold them very rigid, and I'm wondering if that's applying extra pressure on my knee. Trying to be looser and more relaxed, and hoping I can get back to running like I was before. Such a drag to be dealing with injury now when I'm stuck at my house and want to get into the best shape I can.

I was pretty certain that my issue was IT Band Syndrome (ITBS) which is actually more of a hip problem that causes pain in the outer knee. I googled a bunch of glute strengthening exercises that I've been doing daily.

After 3 days off, I managed to run for an hour with 0 pain today, which is very promising but what matters more is how I feel tomorrow. I have had a few runs with "1/5" or "2/5" pain in the last 2 weeks only to end up with "4/5" pain the next day.
