Diving was ok, gave you another set of creatures to collect. My only issue was they would bubble all the time and it was just kind of annoying to listen to and look at while you were fishing.
And I didn't like the Pascal mechanic all that much, because it meant you would have to go diving everyday just to see if Pascal was in your town and there was no indication.

I liked the cafe. Gyroids were trash because they couldn't be re-purchased and there were too many to store.

Another huge plus for New Horizons, they give you massive amount of storage. Like I have 400 slots right now and you can increase it beyond that.

They also added more inventory slots and other Quality of Life changes like that

The only bad thing about the game is cut content, but it looks like they are going to do a slow trickle like Splatoon 2.

They cut the Cafe, Gyroids, Diving, Minigames, Tropical Fruit, some other stuff too that I'm forgetting

Houses and all stores can be moved, no placement in the game is permanent.
Public Works projects are replaced by having the ability to place any furniture outside, and there are massive pieces of furniture in this game that are the size of, if not bigger than Public Works in New Leaf
You can sell at any point in time of the day.
Saharah Wallpapers and Floors are animated now.
They removed all the terrible special visitors like Katie that made me dread visiting other people's towns.
You don't need friend codes or have to add people as friends to visit them.
The Villagers have personality again.
Villagers can't move in randomly and destroy your shit and build houses in places you don't permit. Only the first two villagers are truly random, you have agency over the rest and they implemented a reliable way to kick out bad villagers.
Tools are more useful now in the sense they used to take up store slots, but would have no purpose beyond the first couple days of the game.
Trees can be picked up, rocks can be destroyed.
Museum is way cooler.
They removed Beetle Island farming, which ruined the money grinding of new leaf.
Mystery Islands are way way way better. You randomly land on an island of several presets. Some of the islands have special properties like trash island, bass island, bamboo island, tarantula island etc.
Mystery Tickets make nook miles worth grinding for even after you collect all the items buyable with nook miles.
And they give you a constant stream of tasks to do to unlock nook miles. Which means you can play the game the whole day fulfilling little objectives if you choose to.

They literally do an in-universe reset so they can rehash the original trilogy plot line.

They reset it so that the Empire never lost, the Empire still controls the universe, Palpatine was reset as well. They make so that the previous 6 movies are completely inconseqential and have nothing to do with the last 3 movies besides cameos.

Then they undid all the lore previously established by making Rey into an omnipotent god with almost no explanation other than being related to Palpatine even though Palpatine was trained by a Sith lord for years. He wasn't naturally the way he was and even he had limitations in the first 6 movies

It's not perfect. ROB and Captain Olimar are too low probably, as well as some other weird placements.

But basically only a handful of characters have ever placed high in tournaments, I don't Ryu has ever performed well in a tournament

say what you want about episodes 1 and 2, but at the very least they build up and connect with the third movie and all the pieces laid out by those two movies fall into place and convincingly explain how Palpatine was able to take over the universe.

the last 3 are so horrible with a terrible payoff and undo the previous 6 films.
