TopicSomething in Deep Space Is Sending Signals to Earth in Steady 16-Day Cycles

"But while we know where it is, we still dont know what it is. To that point, the beat of the FRB suggests that it might be modulated by its surroundings. If the source of the FRB is orbiting a compact object, such as a black hole, then it might only flash its signals toward Earth at a certain point in its orbital period. That scenario could potentially match this recognizable 16-day cycle.

Its also possible that we are witnessing a binary system containing a massive star and a super-dense stellar core known as a neutron star, according to a study published on arXiv on Wednesday by a separate team that looked at the same data. In that model, the neutron star would emit radio bursts, but those signals would be periodically eclipsed by opaque outflowing winds from its giant companion."

Well look at that. That explains it and makes sense, a pulsar rotating a black hole every 16 days. Wowie.

Can't it just be a slow rotating pulsar that has signals pulsating every 16 days somehow? I mean there's a lot of phenomenon. But if it's 16 day cycles it's clearly something just doing that as part of its nature vs ALIENS.

It was fine. I feel like the author likely became pressured to keep up with the other series seeing as they were trying to place it on the same pedestal as One Piece, which likely led to the poor idea to increase the scope of the story way too much.

It lost popularity for some reason and therefore was rushed into an ending. It at least ended admirably though. I absolutely loved the ending, couldn't say much for bleach though or SPACE ALIENS BROUGHT NINJAS TO EARTH.

Speaking as a guy who was 260 and went down to 160 (6 feet tall). Both matter, but to prove a point that exercise is significant, I exclusively did exercise and changed nothing of how I ate still ate like shit and lost all of the weight through those means. I had an agenda to prove CICO works for both diet and exercise if you do either exclusively or in combination. When people say you can't outrun a bad diet they're fucking liars, you totally can outrun a garbage diet, it just takes a shit ton of running to do it.

But this is coming from a guy who biked and then eventually started running, going from 30 minutes daily to 2 hours of exercise daily maintaining a high heart rate.

Exercise WILL work if you do A LOT OF IT.

This was primarily cardio I did no strength training, but my legs look pretty crazy considering I never did lifting with them.

Thing is most people aren't willing to put in 2 hours of hard sweating exercise that leaves you gassed daily or can be motivated to get to that point. And when I mean 2 hours of exercise I mean I maintained a heart rate of 160+ the whole time and dipped no lower, this shit is hard to do.

Now all I need is just about 30-1 hours worth of maintenance exercise to stay at the weight I'm at without having to change the stupid shit I eat.

This sums up why this sort of thing happens. Although I should add, the whole procedure being a 8-14 hour long operation with months leading up to it makes this absolutely nerve wrecking for the patient. To come all the way to hospital, get in a gown, be briefed by resident doctors and have IVs started and get your own room only to be told the organ is no good is torture and terribly cruel. I don't wish what we went through last night on anyone. It's not just the operation being called off, but the months of anticipation leading up to this moment that make this absolutely heart breaking when it happens, I don't work right now and I watch over my dad because he doesn't feel comfortable without someone with him at all times and I've had to see him deteriorate into this condition slowly and hear him talking about how he feels weak and how tired he is, he has trouble going to the bathroom too, it's just a nightmare. So when we got the call last night we were very excited that he would be in much better shape soon, it was a very emotional night...now it's as if we never got the call and I'm sitting here still a bit traumatized about the whole incident, imagine how my father feels...

I'm sorry about what happened, but the saying for aviation of regulation is written in blood applies disturbingly to medicine. This type of stuff has happened before to devastating effect. I hope he gets what he needs on time.

what the hell? why did they do that??? lawsuit, maybe?

Watch the scrubs My Lunch episode, and then go about screaming as to why doctors don't just start transplanting the moment they think they have viable organs to transplant. They probably thought they had a viable one, called him in to get prepared and during testing found out it wasn't actually viable or contaminated or diseased in some way. Transplants need to happen quickly so it's more effective to have the patient come in and be told sorry not today. Than to be told it's cool you can chill at home we'll test and by the time we find out it's positive, you take your 1-3 hour drive here OOPS ORGAN EXPIRED.

I think in most cases a patient would rather have the sorry organ is bad can't give it to you right now, than to be coming in later at a convenient time and "miss" a chance because the organ just expired.

I think a lot of people might not know what scared straight is. It's even implied in the name, bad kids that get scared straight, but I guess people don't know about it at all or what the reference. It works for what you're doing, but I think the lady at the end is right, probably maybe speed it up? Other than that the other jokes worked out pretty well.

Maybe relax a bit on the fill in the gap words you use like dude, bro, and shit. It's not really bothersome, but you can work on it and get more crisp and concise. Or you can use it to really push that stoner outlook you have. But these are words you seem to use to fill in or emphasize a point. In a five minute bit it might not show up, but if you go for longer stand ups, people will definitely notice and probably hold it against you. I don't know why I'm even commenting on it, I seemed to notice it. Not like I'm a standup expert or anything, but it can work or work against you is what I was trying to say.

Watching the second video, seems like you'll do just fine with the heckling from Jack. I did like the self racism bit, you could probably work with that a bit more.

But like everyone said, you're definitely in full control on the stage and don't feel intimidated at all and that's a great first step.

What matters here, is what scent was the candle? Maybe you should play a prank and get an x-wing smelling candle and replace another one of his candles with it.

Can't you just have a beast mode PC and then do like streamlink with your cheaper laptop? I do it from my phone and it often works out fine, just need a good internet connection on both ends. Yeah I play MTG arena on my phone via steam link. But you can do the same with other games and through a PC-Laptop connection. You may want to consider that avenue.

Just make sure the gaming PC has a solid upload connection and the gaming laptop has a decent internet connection and you should be all set.

He is an self proclaimed award winning journlist with a number of followers and he put her picture and name out there to the public not just chewed her out.

I get that putting the picture and name is horrible but not something that warrants a public outreach of 30k. There have been people that get screamed at right to their faces that constantly stay professional and get chewed out you see it constantly on r/trashy, but I don't see 30k for those guys. Retail workers have had much worse than this lady. I get it if the guy doxed her and provided and address and she was getting threatened and people trashed her house and broke her windows why she would get 30k and I'd totally understand it. But none of that happened.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N10LNtAfLYU

#10 looks like they should get the 30k compared to a guy that seems to have just called the cops and then had them verify that it was true about the pricing discrepancy. Otherwise, why would the guy claim he had a police report verifying the whole thing? I mean...come on. Compared to being yelled at and having your cash register and drinks poured over you. Your picture and your name posted on a tweet calling you a jerk for not following the law seems tame compared to that and not worthy of 30k public outreach in my eyes. It doesn't even seem like she was treated horribly in person considering the cops didn't arrest anyone.

And again I know that it is a display model showing as 1 cent, but the cops supposedly came in and said the matter should be settled in court seems like they somewhat agreed with David. I wouldn't have but hey that's the court's job not mine. So not only is he possibly right but it doesn't seem like he treated her too horribly compared to most retail customer freakouts. Certainly not enough to go get 30k.

Any law types here, does that guy actually have any legal basis for demanding to be sold the toothbrush? Either way, these annoying assholes should not be enabled.

https://blog.mass.gov/consumer/massconsumer/the-price-is-right-the-massachusetts-item-pricing-law/

"If there is a discrepancy between the price listed on the shelf or item and the price that it rings up at, the consumer must be offered one of two corrections:

If the item costs more than $10 and rings up higher than the advertised price, $10 must be deducted from the lowest advertised price.
If the item costs less than $10 and rings up higher than the advertised price the item should be given as free."

You're legally obligated by law to sell it as advertised no matter what. However the other poster is right it is listed as display, rather than the toothbrush. This will be up to the courts to decide if they choose to proceed down this path. But honestly a legal battle is something neither person wants to do.

But I don't know why she got 30k for basically being chewed out? It happens to retail people all the time. Am I confused? I don't see anything indicating he made a viral meme about her. Basically said this woman didn't follow the law and it's messed up. Which is somewhat true. You are obligated to sell at the advertised price even if your scanner is off if there's a sticker. The guy says the police confirmed it so it isn't a joke either they must've brought up the display point. Again meaning this will have to go to court and it's likely target loses, but both will be out of money essentially.

Do you drink milk? If not then why? It doesnt hurt the cows..,

As far as I know milk isn't drank because it exploits cows. In order to get milk you force a cow to breed to have a calf. Then you take away the calf and constantly milk them. At which point they milk forever if you keep milking them. Supposedly the milking hurts if you don't do it constantly, and also they're supposed to naturally stop when the calf grows older. So basically you're taking their child away, and forcing them to make milk which hurts them. Oh also you keep injecting hormones occasionally to INCREASE milk production too. So now they're making even more milk than normal.

Basically I was told would you do this to a woman?

All of this hurts the cow and exploits them.

Honestly makes sense. I've asked what if you just had a cow that had a calf by normal means and raised a calf normally if you continued milking the cow normally and not when it was uncomfortable if it was fine. I was still told it was unethical because normally the cow stops. On this part I sort of disagree. But ehh there's a lot of moral stuff here.
