Basically she see's it that is where you can see there is still hope for Ellie that she didn't make that decision. I think the people who wanted Ellie to kill Abby at the end are absolutely bonkers. That fight was heart sinking. Neil likes that people argue over it and struggle with it. But he doesn't like the interpretation that people think the game is wagging it's finger at you for killing dogs and then patting the dogs in flashbacks or whatever. There are multiple instances where another character tackles you out of the way or gets you to safety right on time but I cant think of a single instance in gaming where you can do the same for an NPC. Apparently Troy and Neil talked a lot about Joel's mindset before his death. It's a rather interesting observation I didn't really consider. He didn't once consider Abby a threat because she is the same age as Ellie and so he just had it in his mind to protect her and keep her safe. When he got to the group he was sizing them up. I think it's the best of the industry honestly. They all do a phenomenal job. It helps that the face mocap is spot on too (which I know is also due to the actors). That's on top of another sham marriage within that game. Ugh MGS4. Didn't he randomly fall in love with his step-sister in 2 as well? I think MGS1 was where he was handled the best and I can forgive the clunkiness there since it was a PS1 game. The others should have been handled better. | Darmik 07/08/20 7:49:25 PM #3 | Abby is also a mirror flip of Ellie in a lot of ways. But I think she more plays a mirror of Joel in TLOU1. She loses the biggest thing she cares about. She goes in a dark place for several years. She pushes away the people around her who care for her. Unlike Joel she has a change to get revenge but it just makes things worse for her. She eventually finds somebody new to live and fight for. Abby even ends up betraying her allies solely to save Lev. Which is exactly what Joel did at the end of the first game. She even fights in a similar method to him. I wonder if it ever clicks for her why Joel did what he did. She has that conversation with her father. She knows why but I wonder if her experience with Lev helps her understand why. Going by the post-game menu she has found the Fireflies. So I wonder what their new purpose will be. I do think there's room for a sequel here more than the first game but I still have no idea what it would be. I guess it would be about Ellie finding her purpose in the world. Maybe Tommy will die at the start of the game so we have a trilogy of games where a Miller dying is a catalyst for the events ahead heh. --- Kind Regards, Darmik |
