Well 74% of mass shootings in the last few years have been committed by right-wingers compared to 2% by left-wingers perhaps that sheds some light?

He got replaced by like jimmy Clausen or some scruffy with no argument by anyone yet he became some invaluable piece for a franchise to have once he wore cop pig socks, ignored the anthem and praised castro while telling people voting didnt matter.

He has also never said anything profound or engaged in any challenge over his belief and world view. Kneeling during the anthem obviously didn't help the country at all and has only divided it more. He could have called attention in way better ways and actually articulated real legislative reform which is the only way to solve this, but he just wants to preach oppression and anger, not solutions.

No, my viewpoint is that one shouldn't be expected to pretend as if the way the country has treated you is OK, regardless of whether the anthem is playing or not. If someone wants to stand during the anthem, that's fine. If someone wants to sit for the anthem, that's fine. If someone wants to kneel during the anthem, that's fine.

But expecting people who have dealt with racism their whole lives to just act like everything is A-OK just because the anthem is playing... That's ridiculous.

Black people are essentially being asked to act like we're 100% OK with a country that has treated us like shit for centuries. That's why they don't coexist.

Uhh, that is an answer. Protesting is typically controversial, so naturally, protesting during the anthem is controversial. Doing a sit-in in a restaurant you aren't allowed to eat in is controversial. Trying to vote when you aren't allowed is controversial.

What I don't understand is why people feel the need to repeatedly try to ignore what said protests are about even after given a direct explanation of what they're about. IMO, it's either a desire to be offended or a desire to downplay or ignore what the protest is about because said subject matter makes people uncomfortable.

* Nobody is going to notice or care about someone kneeling after scoring a touchdown because nobody is going to keep up with all of the "this player's rando relative or high school teammate died yesterday of a heart attack, so he's kneeling/pointing to the sky" storylines that happen in the NFL every single season
* People think it's controversial because people are stupid and perceive any slight remotely associated with the flag as an attack on America especially if someone with a little melanin in their skin is involved, even after having things explained to them 50 times. Meanwhile, they'll violate flag codes themselves without batting an eye

Yes, BLM has momentum NOW. It most certainly didn't when it started, nor did it have momentum when Colin Kaepernick started protesting. And I guess I'm just tired of dealing with racist situations in my own life. I'm tired of having the police called on me when I'm just living my life. I'm tired of people assuming I don't belong in certain areas. I'm tired of people assuming I'm responsible for all crime in a certain neighborhood. I'm tired of people following me around stores when I'm shopping.

Millions and millions of people watch NFL games every week. Doing the protest during a time where millions of people are watching is the method of giving the movement a ton of visibility.

Said visibility then sparked tons of instagram posts, interviews, and press conferences.

And here we are today, with people around the NFL actually starting to say they were wrong for treating Kaepernick the way they did.
