The third place match between the 2 games that lose in the semifinals seems like the most obvious candidate for a bonus match. That ends up being a fairly small rally that won't save Persona 5 against The Witcher 3 if its natural strength is well below The Witcher 3. The Persona fanbase is going to have to step up their rallying efforts even more just to compete against The Witcher 3. Both games appeared to have rallies, and they kind of canceled each other out. I estimated there were between 800 and 1200 rallied votes between both games combined, based on the percentage of registered users in these matches. P4G also barely won the overall raw vote (by 8 votes), but it was the registered user bonus that prevented the rallies from being successful. | LusterSoldier 05/06/20 4:04:21 AM #267 | X-Stat based rankings for the 2 most recent "favorite 5 game polls":  A couple of games have clearly gotten weaker, such as MGSV and Civ V. Persona 5 and FFV are games that I think have gotten stronger, but how much of that is actually due to Skyrim getting weaker is unknown. Skyrim looks to be the clear loser here. It got 28.31% in a 10-way poll back in 2018, but could only get 27.31% in an 8-way poll which looks like a clear drop in strength to me. GTAV looks to have remained fairly stable, which is rather unfortunate for it as P4G just happened to be a lot stronger than we gave it credit for. However, using the registered/anonymous user results are tricky here due to rallies affecting the final result in both round 2 and round 3 as both games shared a match day with Bloodborne which rallied in both rounds. There's also the problem of predicting who will end up with the registered user advantage once the 2 games finally do meet up in a direct match. Even though ME2 had the registered user advantage over RE7, that was not the case against RE2. RE2 did about 2.5% better with registered users. The best explanation for this that a game like RE2 was better equipped to get a registered user advantage since this site likes nostalgia and RE2 is a remake of a game that falls into the prime "nostalgia zone" time period for this site. ME2 did better with registered users against RE7, but RE2 ended up with the registered user advantage here. It could be that a game like RE2 was better equipped to get a registered user advantage since this site likes nostalgia and RE2 is a remake of a game that falls into the prime "nostalgia zone" time period for this site. The percentage of registered users was higher than usual for a match that took place after round 1, with roughly 54.33% registered users as a whole for these 2 matches. That was probably to be expected with this being the first day of matches after returning from the 6 day break, which was going to hurt anonymous users more than registered users. Online multiplayer has gotten weaker for different reasons, the biggest of which is centered around the average age of the site's users being over 30 and many people now have full time jobs that make scheduling online multiplayer sessions even harder now. Finding one specific date and time for an online multiplayer session that works for the greatest number of people is very difficult because any specific date and time you can come up with will have at least some people who can't play at that time for various reasons (currently working, visiting family or friends, etc). Given the logistical difficulties that now factor into scheduling online multiplayer sessions, it's no wonder a lot of the site has scaled back or even completely eliminated online multiplayer from the time they spend playing video games. You could make x-stat comparisons between any of the top 4 games from this poll and expect that they would be fairly close to what would happen in a contest.
