I've said multiple times that firing him may have been the best action in certain contexts. We don't know the context though. So until then there's reason to believe that either could have been the better decision.

Why won't you address that no company would ever want the PR that comes with keeping on a manager that caters to racists?

If you can solve a problem equally with less resources, you should do it. That's all I'm saying.

Becoming known as the company that kept on a person that caters to racists in a managerial role costs a lot more than firing him and getting a new manager, which actually costs, what do you know, nothing.

If your reaction when confronted with racism is to panic and cater to them, you have no business being a manager, especially if your subordinated are people of color. There isn't a corporation in the country that would keep on a manager that responded like this manager would.

I won't say he's racist because we don't know, but his actions were so irresponsible that he basically invited more racists to come in demean his staff.

I won't argue for or against him being racist, because we really don't know. What we do know is that his actions catered to racists, no matter why he did them.

No corporation in America sans Breitbart or Stormfront would continue to employ someone after this. His actions damaged the company by making it look like a place you could go to and literally demand black people don't come close to touching your food. Maybe if you work at a small town diner you can get away with keeping your job, but a national corporation pretty much has to fire you, there's no other choice on their end.

Nope. Because the customer is the one who is the racist. The customer is the one who created the racism. There is no additional racism created by the restaurant. And that racism does not go away once the customer leaves the building.

If you remove the racist it actually does go away. If you appease them it doesn't, because now you've set a standard that racism is not only allowed but catered to.

Yeah, but it's racism on part of the customer, not the restaurant.

If the restaurant sees that request as reasonable and appeases the customer, it is indeed racism on their part.

Every restaurant is different. Some have no problem telling customers to take a hike. The one I worked for was huge on customer service. We always took care of their requests.

Why do you seem so angry at me to the point where you're accusing me of lying? That's really weird.

If the request you take care of is "Don't let a black person go near my food" then your restaurant didn't deserve customers at all. That's not a request, that's blatant racism.

Again, if your response as a manager is to panic and respond to blatantly racist demands by caving to them, you shouldn't be a manager.

And if you think a giant corporation like Olive Garden would ever deal with the negative of PR of keeping a manager that wouldn't let a white woman be served by a black person you're insane. This isn't the type of mistake you train someone and move on from, this is the type where you cut ties.

People hated it when it happened in the EU too.

Other EU writers were criticizing the decision, and this was before the prequels came out even. It was always a disliked thing. So why would Disney bring in so much disliked stuff.

This is such a stupid case of whataboutism that shows up constantly.

It's not whataboutism. People are acting like Disney killed the end of Ep. 6, when the EU did it a long time ago. People may not have liked it then, but it doesn't change the fact that that's where Disney got the idea from.

It's pretty bad, but there are some questions the article doesn't answer. Are these farms run by Starbucks or Nestle? The article just calls them suppliers. If they're just suppliers, do they sell beans to other companies? Who else is connected? I find it real hard to believe that they're the only culprits here.

I mean, if they're just buying beans from them is there anything they can do beside stop buying from them? If that's the case they don't control the farms hiring practices.

Changing your seat angle does not address the issues that make flying uncomfortable. The issues are a lack of room and being stuck in one place for a long period of time. What reclining does it change the angle of your back, it doesn't provide more space for your legs, it doesn't change that you are seated and it doesn't let you start moving around so your body doesn't have issues. What it does do is reduce the space around the legs of the person behind you and make them more cramped and reduces what little space they'd have to move even further. As such, there are no reasons to recline. This isn't an opinion, it is an irrefutable fact.

Reclining absolutely alleviates pain in my back, even if it's just a couple of inches.
